Description
MECHANISM TO STOP CAR DOORS IN DESIRED POSITION
This invention object is a mechanism for stopping the car doors in desired position that enables stopping the car doors when opening or closing in the desired position between closed and completely opened doors and also fixing this position.
The technical problem that is being successfully solved by this presented invention is a construction solution of the problem of stopping the car doors in whichever position between the closed and completely opened car doors.
With existing construction performance of car doors, the car door can stop only in two or mostly three positions that are usually defined with grooves in guiding devices of car pivot bush. The car doors (specially heavier car doors) can stop in a controlled way somewhere at the half of opening and at completely opened doors. In these positions, certain force is needed to move the doors. The problem, that occurs at exiting the car in a narrow space (e.g. garage, parking lot) is that we have to hold the door as they cannot be stopped at the half and not to bump into the car, parked on the neighbour lot or to the wall of the garage.
One known solution that enables the door to stop in any position is to use a hydraulic cylinder as a stopping element. The shortcoming of this
solution is principally in a quite big force that is needed to move the door from the position, besides the hydraulic cylinder is sensitive to weather conditions (heat - cold) so that in cold weather, even greater force is needed to move the door. In this invention, the set technical issue is solved with help of stopping mechanism that fixes the car doors in a desired position with help of breaking plate, that fixes the connection bar between the door and the body shell of the car according to the status of micro switch, driven by the bar, fixed in the housing, slidable implemented between two springs. I will explain the invention more in detail based on case study and pictures, showing:

Picture 4 mechanism to stop car doors in desired position according to the invention from side view and partial cross-section at closing the door.
Picture 5 mechanism to stop car doors in desired position according to the invention in plan view at opening the door.
Picture 6 mechanism to stop car doors in desired position according to the invention from side view and partial cross- section at stagnation of the door;
Picture 7 mechanism to stop car doors in desired position according to the invention in plan view at opening the door.
Picture 8 schematic diagram of car door stopping mechanism in desired position according to the invention installation to the car door.
Picture 9 schematic diagram of additional sensors installation for the mechanism for stopping the car doors in desired position according to the invention.
Mechanism to stop car doors in desired position after the invention is shown at the presented pictures It consists of connection bar 1 , which is attached to the car body shell one end through hole 19, the other end of the bar slides through the housing 2 of mechanism stopping part. In housing 2, there is a braking plate 3 set, lifting tampers 7, 8 braking plates, electric motor 6 with an axis, that have a right thread 4 on one half, on the other a left thread 5, micro switches 9, 10, while the housing 2 has
the rammer 13 attached, the rammer is slidable set in housing 12 between two springs 14, 15. Housing 12 has a plug 16, which can, according to the housing 12 position, push the micro switch 17. The housing 12 is set to the car door through the plug with hole 10. Sensor 11 of connection bar 1 motion is set into the housing 2 of stopping mechanism.
I will explain the functioning of mechanism for stopping the car door in desired position after the invention based on presented pictures. Pictures
1 and 2 show the position of the mechanism when opening the doors, pictures 4 and 5 show the position of mechanism after invention at closing the doors and pictures 6 and 7 show the position of mechanism when the doors are in stagnation.
When we open the door, we use a certain force that moves the housing
12 in a way as shown on pictures 1 and 2. In this case the spring 14 is stretched, spring 15 is pressed, micro switch 17 is not activated, the lifting tapers 7, 8 are distanced, micro switch 20 is concluded, the braking plate
3 is released and connection bar 1 can smoothly slide through the housing
2 of mechanism after invention, which means, that we can move the door.
In the moment when we want to stop the door in a certain position, the force on the door stops to work and so springs 14 and 15 can be returned into its primary (unburdened) position (picture 6 and 7). In this moment the plug 16 pushes the micro switch 17 that starts the electric motor 6. The lifting tapers 7, 8 move together by threads 4 and 5 of the axis and so lift the braking plate that stops the motion of the connection bar 1. When the
lifting tapers 7, 8 come together; the micro switch 10 stops the functioning of the electric motor. The micro switch 10 is pushed by plug 20 of lifting taper 7. This way, the doors are fixed in the desired position.
Further opening of the door repeats the described situation; closing the door sets the situation as shown on pictures 4 and 5. Evasion of housing 12 in a way, that plug 16 deactivates the micro switch 17, presses the spring 14; the spring 15 is stretched, lifting tapers 7, 8 are distanced, concluded micro switch 20 stops the functioning of the electric motor 6 when the lifting tapers 7, 8 are completely distanced, the braking plate 3 is released and connection bar 1 smoothly slides through the housing 2 of mechanism after invention, which means that we can move the doors.
Picture 8 shows the schematic diagram of setting the mechanism for stopping the car doors in desired position after the invention into the car doors. Besides the setting of mechanism after invention, there is micro switch 22 installed at internal handle 21 of the door. This micro switch deactivates the micro switch 17 when the internal handle is pulled - this enables smooth opening of the car doors.
Bar 1 sliding through the housing 2 is detected also with sensor 11 of connection bar 1 motion. In case when sensor 11 would not detect bar 1 sliding and the force to the door is not strong enough to activate the micro switch 17, sensor 11 activates the electric motor 6 by itself. Electric motor 6 so lifts the lifting tapers 7, 8 into lifted position, which fixes the bar 1. The
same way it transfers the signal to the sensor 11 in the case, when the doors are moved with activated micro switch 17.
Picture 9 shows schematic diagram of installation of additional sensors of mechanism for stopping the car doors in desired position after invention; that enables stopping the car also when facing a barrier, invisible to the driver (e.g. low fence etc). In this case, the additional sensors 20 that detect the barrier enable activation of motor 8 that lifts the lifting tapers 7, 8 and also braking plate 3 that fixes connection bar 1.
