Abstract

Disclosed is a reforming catalyst used in a method for producing hydrogen or a synthetic gas, which essentially contains copper and further contains at least one element selected from nickel, cobalt and platinum group elements. These elements are present in the form of metal oxides, and at least a part of the metal oxides has a spinel structure. This reforming catalyst is excellent in heat resistance, while being greatly improved in the activity per unit surface area. Such an excellent reforming catalyst enables to obtain an excellent fuel cell system.
