Abstract
This invention relates to Wave Energy Converters - WEC. The core is an innovative power-take-off, called GPTO, which comprises a gyroscope (5), or multiple gyroscopes (5) in parallel, mounted on a crankshaft (30) driven by a rotary tie-rod (24). The output is an electrical generator (20, 21) or an hydraulic pump (84). The GPTO works like a gearbox aimed to gear up waves motion. The GPTO has been adapted to an innovative WEC, which works based on the point absorber theory. The WEC is a submerged device whose floater has an innovative waterproof sealing system (40); an innovative floater translation system (54); a new spring system (49) and a large cylindrical body (23). Due to GPTO amplitude limitations, to double the electrical power output two kind of series association of individual GPTO are described, both of which have one single half-sized generator (73) for two GPTO (74, 75).
