Abstract

A head separated camera (1) is composed of a camera head (2) having an imaging element (5), and a camera control unit (3) for controlling the camera head (2). The camera head (2) is removably attached to the camera control unit (3), and is provided with a driving section (6) for driving the imaging element (5) based on a clock signal, and a data storage section (8) for storing camera head data set for each camera head (2). The driving section (6) of the camera head (2) drives the imaging element (5) by using the camera head data. Thus, the head separated camera with improved camera head compatibility is provided.
