Abstract

The invention described is a portable and foldable module for exhibition and sale of articles, said module including a left side panel and a right one, each formed by an upper half hinged to a lower half; the upper half of each panel can fold over the lower half; the module also has a left post and a right post divided into two halves, each half of the left and right panels are hinged to the corresponding post on the same side. Rotating shelves are fitted between the two posts and are attached in horizontal, inclined or vertical position. A base foldable in the frontal portion and a pair of support mounts hinged to the side panels bear the module which includes a board located above the shelves. The module includes fasteners which keep the halves of the both panels joined when the module is folded.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention is related to the techniques used in the manufacture and design of furniture, and more particularly, it is related to a module for displaying and selling items, portable and foldable.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Since the beginning of commerce, the human being has been in need of exhibiting or displaying the items he intends to trade, for which, at first he did it by stacking them on each other and directly on the floor.

As the human being progressed in his knowledge of the different materials at his disposal, he was designing different and varied devices that allowed him to exhibit his articles in a more practical and functional way. Until a few years ago, the material most used in the manufacture of devices or furniture for display was metallic, very resistant material, but at the same time very heavy, making the display a static or fixed furniture. Nowadays, the material that has gradually been replacing, among others, the metallic one, in the manufacture of this type of furniture, is the plastic material, equally resistant, and yet much lighter, making the display case a more versatile piece of furniture and portable

According to the above, in the state of the art there is a wide variety of devices or display units, such is the case of the furniture described in Mexican Patent No. 133,869, which is related to improvements to a folding house and portable, wherein said improvements are characterized in that a case or box manipulable by a side handle and comprising a lower portion or box and an upper portion or lid, wherein two pairs of folding legs are added externally to said box, which at the unfold to its open position hold the box in its elevated position.

Likewise, the device described in Mexican Patent No. 148,954 is found, which refers to the improvements in a portable display system, said improvements being characterized because they comprise a plurality of panel assemblies, which, each of said assemblies comprises a detachable front panel and a removable rear panel, a shore strip that includes at least first and second peripheral supports to hold and place the detachable panels in a parallel and confronted relationship. Similarly, in the Mexican patent No. 155,193 improvements are described to a folding advertising display device, consisting of two or more drawers stacked one on top of the other, capable of being foldable flat through their folding edges, said drawers being in parallel superimposed and separated from each other, and their major exterior faces house photographs or advertising prints, said improvements being characterized in that the drawers are supported laterally by two vertical uprights whose lower edges constitute the support base of the display on the plane of a table or counter .

In the Mexican patent application No. 9204598 a portable display assembly is described, which includes a plurality of vertical frame units that are adapted to be interconnected at intervals spaced by scissor type connectors. Said connectors each include a pair of rigid and elongated elements, pivotally joined in their middle portions, forming scissor arms arranged opposite, where each pair of arms is structured to join one of the respective frame units, placed adjacently, such that they place the frame units in a parallel orientation.

A modular display system is described in the Mexican patent application No. 9602937, which comprises a support base for receiving and supporting the total weight of the modular display in its upright position, a plurality of flat panels that will contain the promotional displays, said panels having joining means for joining, interconnecting and holding said panels together in a selected configuration, and a top stop or cover at the upper end of at least one of the panels to give robustness and firmness to the structure of the display .

On the other hand, is the Mexican patent No. 212,227 of the same author as the one of the present one and is related to improvements to a convertible portfolio in display module of products and services that can be assembled and dismantled, comprising a centerpiece prior to the portfolio that opening it allows a display module to be formed by joining a bottom screen that contains side and front laminated panels joined by hinges, said hinges being riveted to the tubular panels and to the centerpiece or shelf where the products are placed to exhibit.

A collapsible-folding shelf is described in US Patent No. 5,193,466, it consists of a display device as a shelf closed by the back, it has panels of corrugated material structured by means of tabs connected to grooves, it has shelves which are held by cords in position horizontal when said shelf is in use, however this shelf being made of cardboard cannot withstand heavy items.

Likewise, a portable folding system is described in US Patent No. 4,436,135, comprising a plurality of recessed shelves composed of two fixed boards within a strip at its edges. Eight shelves are joined together to be able to bend and unfold between a folded position in which all the shelves are arranged in a parallel mallet and an unfolded position, in which the shelves are open in any different position, including a continuous wall, however , this system does not include shelves to make flashy items and present them in an appropriate way to the consumer.

Similarly, in US Patent No. 6,098,820, a folding shelf resistant to inclination is described, the shelf includes a plurality of panels, where the items to be displayed are placed, which are held in an erect form by a plurality of rear support sections, which, in turn, are held in a position deployed by a pair of flaps held in a fixed position.

On the other hand, even when some of the devices of the prior art are disassembled or foldable, they comprise only a table or shelf, supported on legs, which makes them suitable for the promotion and sale of services, or, for a limited display of articles.

In the same way, as mentioned earlier, the exhibitors or metal furniture, have the disadvantage of being too heavy, in addition to the fact that to assemble and disassemble them it takes some time and the use of screws to join the different parts that make them up and of at least one screwdriver to fix said screws, limiting their use to a fixed piece of furniture.

However, a solution to these problems is described in Mexican Patent No. 233,812, of the same author as that of the present invention, and which is a folding and portable display module constituted by a pair of side panels between which are arranged a plurality of shelves that can be fixed in vertical, horizontal or inclined positions, this module can be folded essentially in half and easily transported, the module comprises, in addition to the shelves, a front base, a board in the part upper and support brackets on the back of the front panels.

The module of said Mexican patent No. 233,812 allows to have great versatility in the manner in which the articles are displayed, however, one of its disadvantages is that tubular profiles are needed to construct the frame of the Shelves and board. Likewise, the shelves are difficult to fix in inclined positions or in a completely vertical position since the pins used to fix them are not completely accessible, the reason for the above is that the pins are mounted on the horizontal surface of the shelves, and as they are brought to an upright position, the pins are hidden and are only accessible by folding the wrist and placing the hand in an upright position. In addition, it has been seen that this module does not have means for the halves in which it is folded to remain fixed, so that the module constantly opens and loses its folded position.

As a result of the foregoing, it has been sought to eliminate in a practical, simple and economical way the inconveniences of the furniture or display devices found in the current technique, designing a module for displaying items, portable and foldable, which, by design and construction, in addition to allowing the display of articles in an efficient manner, allow to display graphics such as posters, posters, large format labels, among others; Likewise, it can be folded and deployed in a fast and simple way, besides being moved from one place to another with great ease and being stored in a very safe way.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

Taking into account the inconveniences of the furniture or display devices of the current technique, and in particular of the display module of the Mexican Patent No. 233,812, the present invention provides a module for display and sale of portable and foldable items, of extremely construction simple, practical and functional, and yet of high efficiency for the display of articles, the module of the present invention comprises the following elements that are shared with the module of Mexican Patent No. 233,812: a) a shaped left side panel by an upper half and a lower half that are articulated together; such that the upper half can be folded over the lower half; b) a right side panel formed by an upper half and a lower half that are articulated together; wherein the upper half can be folded over the lower half; c) a left post being divided into a lower half and an upper half, where each half of the left side panel is articulated joined to the respective half of the left post in order to move outward and inward; d) a right post being divided into a lower half and an upper half, where each half of the right side panel is articulated joined to the respective half of the right post in order to move outward and inward; e) a plurality of rotating shelves located between both side panels, the shelves being mounted between both posts so that they can be moved from a horizontal position to a vertical position; f) a front folding base located between the lower halves of both side panels and mounted to the posts; g) a pair of support brackets, each of them is located and articulated jointly to the lower and rear part of one of said side panels, said support brackets making contact with the floor; and, h) a board located above the shelves between both side panels and being connected between both posts.

In the module of the present invention, when the shelves are in a horizontal position they support the items to be displayed and when they are in a vertical position they work together with the board to display graphic material in the front part of the module.

To fold the module, the shelves are placed in an upright position, and the side panels move on the pole to which they are attached in the direction of the back of the module; then, the upper half of the side walls is rotated on its lower half by bending the module in half, so that both halves of the side panels make contact and remain in the middle of the shelves in the manner of a sandwich; finally, the base folds up to finish folding the module.

However, in the present invention, some additional elements are included that are not described in the module of Mexican Patent No. 233,812 but which offer an advantage with respect to its usefulness, said elements are first fixing means that hold together the halves of both panels when the module is folded, such means are provided on the outer face of each half of both side panels. When the module is folded in half, the first fixing means of each half are put in contact preventing the halves of the side panels from separating.

In addition, a notable improvement with respect to the invention of patent No. 233,812 relates to the fact that the shelves do not include tubular frames, more specifically, in the present invention, the shelves are formed by a plate that includes a flange ascending on each of its lateral sides and a pair of lamellae one of which is provided at the front edge of the plate and the other at the rear edge, the lamellae are joined to the plate and connect both transversely eyelashes, in such a way that the eyelashes and the lamellae form a fence to place the articles, which replaces the frame used in the module of the patent No. 233,812. The advantage of this characteristic is obvious: less material is needed to manufacture the module, resulting in cheaper and less weight.

In a preferred embodiment of the module, second fixing means are provided to fix the shelves either the panels or the posts in different positions, these second fixing means are preferably pins that are mounted on the rear sheet of each shelf and inserted in cooperating holes provided in the side panels and in the posts, due to the location of said second fixing means they are always accessible to the hand with the extended wrist, which solves another of the disadvantages of the previous art module of the same author.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

Referring in particular to the accompanying drawings, and more specifically to Figures 1 to 4 thereof, there is shown a module 10 for display and sale of items, portable and foldable, constructed in accordance with a particular modality Preferred of the present invention, which should be considered only as illustrative, but not limiting thereof. The module comprises in general terms: a left side panel 20 formed by an upper half 21 and a lower half 22 that are articulated together with one another by means of an intermediate hinge 23, which allows the upper half 21 to be bent over the lower half 22

On the other side of module 10, there is a right side panel 40 also formed by an upper half 41 and a lower half 42 that are articulated together with each other by another intermediate hinge identified as 43; Which allows the upper half 41 can be folded over the lower half 42 when the module 10 is folded.

The left side panel 20 is articulated jointly to a left post 30, which is divided into an upper half 31 and a lower half 32 that are coincident with the upper and lower half 21 and 22 of the left side panel 20, that is, they are practically equal in size. The panel 20 and the left mounting post 30 are articulated by means of the internal hinge 33 (Figure 2) that runs vertically between said elements 20 and 30.

Similarly, the right side panel 40 is hingedly connected to a right post 50, which is divided into a lower half 52 and an upper half 51 that are coincident with the lower halves 42 and upper 41 of the right side panel 40. The panel 40 and the right post 50 are articulated by means of the internal hinge 53 (see Figure 4) that runs between said elements 40 and 50.

The upper and lower halves 21, 41, 22 and 42 of the side panels 20 and 40 are provided with first fixing means that hold the halves of both side panels together when the module is folded as will be explained later, said first fixing means in the embodiment described are the cooperating portions of hooks and fibers (sailboat®) 11, other fixing means such as male-female couplings, hooks or the like are also possible to fulfill the same function.

In Figures 1 to 4, a plurality of rotating shelves 60 located between both side panels 20 and 40 can also be observed, the rotating shelves are mounted by their lateral ends to the left and right posts 30 and 50 such that the Rotating shelves 60 may move from a horizontal position, such as that seen in Figures 1 and 2, to a vertical position, such as that of Figures 3 and 4. Preferably, four rotating shelves 60 are provided in module 10.

In the present invention, second fixing means are provided to fix the rotating shelves 60 with different degrees of inclination, in the embodiment described, said second fixing means are pins 61 that are inserted in cooperating holes 62 provided in the side panels. 20 and 40 and at posts 30 and 50, the pins 61 allow to fix the shelves 60 in intermediate positions between their vertical position and their horizontal position, the pins 61 can be clearly seen in Figure 2.

On the other hand, to give stability to the module 10 it comprises a folding front base 70 located between the lower halves 22 and 42 of both panels lateral 20 and 40, in addition the front base 70 is mounted to the left and right posts 30 and 50.

From the rear of the module 10, a pair of left and right support brackets 81 and 82 can be noticed, each of them is located and articulated jointly to the bottom and rear of one of said side panels 20 or 40 Specifically, the left support bracket 81 is attached to the left side panel 20 by means of the hinge 83 (Figure 2) and the right support bracket 82 is attached to the right side panel 40 by means of the hinge 84 (Figure 4), the hinges 83 and 84 are preferably plastic hinges, although other types of hinges can also be used. The supports 81 and 82 give stability to the module at its rear.

The final element of the module 10 is the board 90 located above the shelves 60 between both side panels 20 and 40 and being fixedly attached to both left and right posts 30 and 50. The board 90 is generally formed by a single-plate piece that includes a perimeter fold, which allows the board to be joined through its lateral sides to the left and right posts 30 and 50. When the shelves 60 are in a horizontal position as in Figures 1 and 2 they support the items to be displayed, and when they are in an upright position as in Figures 3 and 4 they work together with the board 90 to display graphic material such as posters, illustrations, stickers, etc.

In relation to the above, it is important to refer to Figures 5 and 5A in order to make a comparison between one of the rotating shelves 60 of module 10 of the present invention and a shelf 400 of the module of the prior art of the Mexican patent 233,812 . In Figure 5, a perspective view of the rotating shelf 60 is shown, which is mounted between the left and right mounting posts 30 and 50 and below the board 90. This shelf 60, as well as each of the remaining shelves of the module 10 is formed by a plate 63 that integrally includes an ascending flange 64 on each of its left and right side sides, in addition, the shelf 60 is formed by two lamellae 65, one of which is provided on the front edge of the plate 63 and the other at the rear edge, the lamellae 65 that are attached to the plate 63 and transversely connect both tabs 64, such that the tabs 64 and the lamellae 65 together form a fence to place the items to be displayed. For its part, the shelf 400 of the prior art shown in Figure 5A, is formed by a frame 405 composed of segments of tubular profiles and a completely flat plate 410 attached to the frame 405.

Another important difference is that, on the rotating shelf 60 of Figure 5, the lamella 65 that is located on the rear edge of the shelf 60 has mounted on each side end a pin 61 which is received in one of the cooperating holes 62 formed in the upper halves 21 and 41 of the side panels and posts 30 and 50, while on the shelf 400 of the prior art illustrated in Figure 5A its pins 425 are attached on a flange 420 of the same plate 410, this makes an important difference since having the pins mounted on the lamellae 65 and not on the plate makes it easier to access in order to manipulate the pins, since the Hand never has to be folded as the shelves are brought to an upright position.

Each of the rotating shelves 60 is rotatably joined to the posts 30 and 50 by means of the shafts 66 that cross the side tabs 64 of the shelf 60 and are inserted into the posts 30 and 50 being anchored in solid inserts 67 which located inside the left and right post, the inserts 67 are segments of a solid material such as plastic or wood and are separated along the tube and their number on each post 30 and 50 coincides with the number of shelves 60 that has the module 10. The inserts 67 allow to mount the shelves 60 to posts 30 and 50 very safely.

In the subsequent Figures, the manner in which the module 10 is being folded will be shown. From, Figures 6 and 7, it can be seen to upper left and right support brackets 91 and 92 that are joined in an articulated manner to the back of the board 90 by hinges 93 and 94, which it is also preferred that Be plastic hinges. When the module 10 is in its "deployed" position, said upper support brackets 91 and 92 are fixed to the upper halves 21 and 41 of the side panels 20 and 40 to prevent them from moving from their place, managing to give structural rigidity to the entire module 10. In particular, the upper left support 91 is fixed to the upper half 21 of the left side panel 20 and the right support support 92 to the upper half 41 of the upper right panel 40. For this purpose , each of the upper support brackets 91 and 92 has male terminals 95 that are received in female terminals 24 included in the upper halves 21 and 41 of the side panels 20 and 40.

To fold said upper support brackets 91 and 92 left and right, the male terminals 95 are removed from the female terminals 24 by moving one in the direction of the other by the back of the board 90. To facilitate this disconnection of the upper support brackets 91 and 92, they include ears 96 that have a size such that they protrude with respect to the edge of the side panels 20 and 40 when the module is deployed, the ears 96 facilitate the disconnection of the supports upper support, since on its surface the thumb or palm of the hand can be placed to push them.

When the upper support supports 91 and 92 have been removed, the side panels 20 and 40 are free in order to be able to fold, for this, simply said side panels 20 and 40 are moved one in the direction of the other by the rear part of the module 10 as illustrated in Figure 7, where it can be seen that the right side panel 40 moves on the hinge 53 and the left side panel on the hinge 33 which, although not seen in this figure, was shown in Figure 2. At the end of this movement, the side panels 20 and 40 are adjacent to the rear part of both the rotating shelves 60, the board 90 and the base 70 as shown in Figure 8 where the module 10 is mainly supported by the base 70.

Then, as shown in Figure 9, the upper half 21 and 41 of the side walls is rotated on its lower half 22 and 42 by folding the module 10 in half thanks to the intermediate hinges 23 and 43, at the end of this movement both upper and lower halves of the side panels make contact and remain in the middle of the shelves 60 in the manner of a sandwich. Although it is not seen in Figure 9, at the end of the movement represented in this figure, the cooperating portions of hooks and fibers (sailboat®) 11 shown in Figure 7 make contact by keeping both halves of each of the side panels fixed 20 and 40 of module 10.

Reference is now made to Figures 10 to 12 to describe the base 70 and the way in which it is folded in the module 10, as mentioned, the base 70 serves to give stability to the module 10, and in the modality that described is formed by a horizontal plate 71 joined between the lower halves 32 and 52 of posts 30 and 50; a foldable plate 72 articulated jointly to the upper part of the horizontal plate 71 by means of bolts 73. The base 70 also includes a pair of lateral fins 74 and 75 articulatedly connected to the horizontal plate by means of hinges 76 and 77, which are preferably plastic hinges In the deployed position of module 10, the lateral fins 74 and 75 project outwardly from the horizontal plate 71, said fins

74 and 75 have the shape of a right triangle, where its longest side is in contact with the lower face of the folding plate 72 and its base is in contact with the floor. Both lateral fins 74 and 75 include an ear 78 that is inserted into cooperating grooves 79 provided in the folding plate 72. The lateral fins 74 and

75 and the folding plate 72 is held fixed to each other by means of second cooperating portions of hooks and fibers (sailboat®) 12 that are provided both on the wings 74 and 75 as well as on the underside of the folding plate 72. To fold the base 70, the hook and fiber portions (sailboat®) 12 are disengaged and each ear 78 is removed from its respective slot 79; then, the folding plate 72 is turned upwards to be on the lower shelf 60, in addition it is held fixed to the lower halves 32 and 52 of the posts by means of third cooperating portions of hooks and fibers (sailboat®) 13 which are provided with preferred way in the lower halves 32 and 52 of the posts and on the folding plate 72.

Subsequently, the fins 74 and 75 are turned one in the direction of the other to be on and in contact with the horizontal plate 71, said fins and the horizontal plate include fourth cooperating portions of hooks and fibers (sailboat®) 14 to keep them fixed, whereupon the module is finally folded as shown in Figures 13 and 14, achieving an extremely compact, almost flat position, on one side of the module 10 is the base 70 and on the other, the upper half of the module , where the board 90, some of the shelves 60 and below them the side panels 20 and 40 can be distinguished. The module in this position can be inserted into a sheath and easily transported from one place to another. The module does not open, because the halves of the side panels are fixed.

The manufacturing materials of the module are mostly plastic materials, in those joints between the halves of the side panels and of these with the posts it is preferred to use metal hinges, although it is possible to use other hinges or similar means to achieve the articulated joint between the elements that need to be joined in this way.

In accordance with the above description, it can be seen that the module for display and sale of articles, portable and foldable of the present invention, has been designed to obtain a very simple, practical and functional construction furniture, and yet, of a high efficiency for the display of articles, which, can be folded and deployed in a quick and simple way, capable of being moved from one place to another with great ease and to which innumerable modifications can be made, such as the number of the elements that compose it, the arrangement and material of said elements, the hinges as well as the fixing means, among others.

Even though specific modalities of the present invention have been shown and described in the foregoing, it should be emphasized that numerous modifications to such modalities are possible but without departing from the true scope of the invention. The present invention, therefore, should not be restricted except by what is established in the state of the art and by the spirit of the appended claims.

Claims

NOVELTY OF THE INVENTION REIVINDICATIONS

1. A module for displaying and selling items, portable and foldable, of the type comprising: a) a left side panel consisting of an upper half and a lower half that are articulated together; such that the upper half can be folded over the lower half; b) a right side panel formed by an upper half and a lower half that are articulated together; wherein the upper half can be folded over the lower half; c) a left post being divided into a lower half and an upper half, where each half of the left side panel is articulated joined to the respective half of the left post in order to move outward and inward; d) a right post being divided into a lower half and an upper half, where each half of the right side panel is articulated joined to the respective half of the right post in order to move outward and inward; e) a plurality of rotating shelves located between both side panels, the shelves being mounted between both posts so that they can be moved from a horizontal position to a vertical position; f) a front folding base located between the lower halves of both side panels and mounted to the posts; g) a pair of support brackets, each of them is located and articulated jointly to the lower and rear part of one of said side panels, said support brackets making contact with the floor; and, h) a board located above the shelves between both side panels and being connected between both posts; where to fold the module the shelves are placed in an upright position, and the side panels move on the pole to which they are attached in the direction of the back of the module; then, the upper half of the side walls is rotated on its lower half by bending the module in half, so that both halves of the side panels make contact and remain in the middle of the shelves in the manner of a sandwich; finally, the base is folded up so that the module reaches its folding position of the module, which is characterized in that it additionally comprises: i) first fixing means that hold the halves of both panels together when the module is folded, the first fixing means being provided on the outer face of each half of both side panels and which are put in contact when the module is folded in half, preventing the halves of the side panels from separating in the folded position of the module.

2. A module for displaying and selling items, portable and foldable, in accordance with claim 1, further characterized in that said first fixing means are selected from cooperating portions of hooks and fibers, hooks and male-female couplings.

3. A module for displaying and selling items, portable and foldable, in accordance with claim 2, further characterized in that said first fixing means are cooperating portions of hooks and fibers.

4. A module for displaying and selling items, portable and foldable, in accordance with claim 1, further characterized in that each of the shelves comprises: a plate that includes an ascending flange on each of its lateral sides; and, a pair of lamellae one of which is provided at the front edge of the plate and the other at the rear edge, the lamellae are attached to the plate and connect both tabs transversely, such that the tabs and the lamellae form a fence to place the items to be displayed.

5. A module for display and sale of articles, portable and foldable, according to claim 4, further characterized in that the module additionally comprises second fixing means for fixing the shelves to the panels or to the posts in different positions.

6. A module for displaying and selling items, portable and foldable, in accordance with claim 5, further characterized in that said second fixing means are pins mounted on the rear sheet of the shelf and inserted into cooperating holes provided in the side panels and posts.

7. A module for displaying and selling items, portable and foldable, in accordance with claim 1, further characterized in that the posts include inside inserts of a solid material where the shelves are rotatably mounted by means of shafts provided in their lateral sides.

8. A module for displaying and selling items, portable and foldable, in accordance with claim 1, further characterized in that it comprises four rotating shelves.

9. A module for displaying and selling items, portable and foldable, in accordance with claim 1, further characterized in that the module comprises additionally upper support supports that are articulated to the back of the board; said upper support brackets being fixed to the upper halves of the side panels in order to prevent the side panels from moving when the module is deployed.

10. A module for display and sale of articles, portable and foldable, according to claim 9, further characterized in that each of the upper support brackets includes male terminals that are received in female terminals included in the upper halves of the side panels in order to fix said upper support brackets.

11. A module for displaying and selling items, portable and foldable, in accordance with claim 9, further characterized in that the upper support brackets include ears, which have a size such that, when the module is deployed, they protrude with with respect to the rear edge of the side panels; the ears serving as a support surface where the thumb or palm of the hand is placed to disconnect the support brackets from the side walls.

A module for display and sale of articles, portable and foldable, in accordance with claim 1, further characterized in that the base comprises: i) a horizontal plate joined between the lower halves of the posts; ii) a folding plate articulated jointly to the upper part of the horizontal plate; iii) a pair of lateral fins joined in an articulated manner to the horizontal plate and that include an ear that is inserted in cooperating grooves provided in the folding plate; where, to fold the base the ears are removed from the grooves and the folding plate is lifted and fixed to the posts, while the lateral fins are fixed to the horizontal plate.

13.- A module for displaying and selling items, portable and foldable, in accordance with claim 1, further characterized in that the board is formed by a single-piece sheet that includes a perimeter fold.
