Abstract
Address voltage pulses (Va) are applied to a plurality of signal electrodes (A) and scan voltage pulses (-Vy) are applied to odd lines of scan electrodes (Y) in a first period (TA1) of an address period (TA). A first auxiliary pulse (-Vxal) with the same polarity as those of scan voltage pulses is then applied to odd lines of sustain electrodes (X), during which a second auxiliary pulse (Vaa) with the same polarity as those of the address voltage pulses is applied to the signal electrodes, and then a third auxiliary pulse (Vxa2) with the same polarity as those of sustain voltage pulses (Vs) is applied to the odd lines of the sustain electrodes (X) to sustain the priming effect after address discharge. Subsequently, the address voltage pulses are applied to the signal electrodes (A) and the scan voltage pulses are applied to even lines of the scan electrodes (Y) in a second period (TA2) of the address period.
