Abstract

A steam turbine type power generating apparatus comprises first and second radial steam turbines (1, 2) driven by the steam from a steam generating source (10), a permanent magnet generator (3) coaxially connected to the first and second radial steam turbines (1, 2) and driven by the first and second radial steam turbines to generate an electric power, and an inverter (4) for controlling the frequency of the power generated by the permanent magnet generator (3) and the numbers of rotation of the permanent magnet generator (3). Consequently, the lowering of the power generation efficiency, that may occur when the pressure and temperature of the excess steam supplied to the steam turbines vary, can be suppressed.
