Abstract

 ブラックマトリクス14及びカラーフィルタ層15を有するカラーフィルタ基板10と、画素電極部22を有する画素電極基板20との間に、垂直配向型の液晶分子を含有してなる液晶層30が配置された液晶表示装置として、カラーフィルタ基板10において線状に延びるように設けられるブラックマトリクス14の少なくとも一部の線状部分を、画素電極基板20側に向かって突出しかつ該少なくとも一部の線状部分に沿って線状に延びるように形成された突起構造物16を有するものとする。
