Abstract

Disclosed is a solid solution crystal phosphor wherein the host crystal is composed of an inorganic compound having a crystal structure identical with that of a CaSiAlN3 crystal. This phosphor is a yellow light-emitting phosphor represented by the composition formula below, which contains Ce as a luminescent center ion, while having an emission peak wavelength within the range of 550-600 nm. Ca1-x-ySrxAlSiN3:Ce3+y (In the formula, x and y respectively satisfy 0 < x < 1 and 0.001 ≤ y ≤ 0.1, or alternatively satisfy 0 ≤ x < 1 and 0.005 ≤ y ≤ 0.1.) This phosphor has excellent characteristics, and enables to obtain white light by itself when it is used in combination with an excitation light source which emits blue light.
