Abstract

The present invention relates to a cost account system for providing a specialized service to specific customers using an exclusive EPG in two-way DMB environments and a method thereof capable of showing any information for selecting and watching any programs provided by a digital broadcasting to a subscriber of a receiving terminal or a service user, showing any program according to the preferring manner of the user, providing means for watching and utilizing a shopping information, financial information, game information, educational information, sports information, life information (traffic information and news) and two-way advertisement information, etc. through an external specific information, providing a basic electric program guide service to best customers by various providers in the various areas such as credit card/finance/stocks/currency/education/wire and wireless communications/internet portals/ad agency/travel/aviation/home shopping/internet shopping malls etc., integrating advertisement information of each provider, goods/services price comparison information, community information usage, membership management information, consulting information, and accounting information etc. into a single application, and effectively settling accounts related to the watching of the program contents and the purchase of various goods so as to cut down the expenses of the subscribers.

Technical Field

[1] The present invention relates to a cost account system for providing a specialized service to specific customers using an exclusive EPG in two-way DMB environments and a method thereof, and more particularly to a cost account system for providing a specialized service to specific customers using an exclusive EPG in two-way DMB environments and a method thereof capable of showing any information for selecting and watching any programs provided by a digital broadcasting to a subscriber of a receiving terminal or a service user, showing any program according to the preferring manner of the user, providing means for watching and utilizing a shopping information, financial information, game information, educational information, sports information, life information (traffic information and news) and two-way advertisement information, etc. through an external specific information, providing a basic electric program guide service to best customers by various providers in the various areas such as credit card/finance/stocks/currency/education/wire and wireless communications/ internet portals/ad agency/travel/aviation/home shopping/internet shopping malls etc., integrating advertisement information of each provider, goods/services price comparison information, community information usage, membership management information, consulting information, and accounting information etc. into a single application, and effectively settling accounts related to the watching of the program contents and the purchase of various goods so as to cut down the expenses of the subscribers. [2] Recently, according to the development of digital broadcasting and mobile communication techniques, it has been highly concerned about a digital broadcasting service capable of watching the digital broadcasting in moving. Especially, it has been highly concerned about a DMB (Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) using a mobile communication terminal.

[3] In the DBM, various multimedia broadcasting can be watched on multi-channel through a personal portable terminal or a receiver for car having a nondirectional receiving antenna in traveling.

[4] Generally, the DMB service system includes a data transmitting center, a satellite, and receiving devices (for example, a mobile communication terminal, a receiver for car or home and so forth). The data transmitting center serves to compress and modulate the digital multimedia broadcasting data (for example, image, sound and data signals and so on) and then, transmit them to the satellite. The satellite serves to receive the signals from the data transmitting center, amplify and covert them, and resend the converted signals to the ground. The receiving devices serve to receive the resent signals from the satellite and demodulate and decompress them and then, convert them into to original signals to be outputted.

[5] The Digital broadcasting service is excellent in terms of channel efficiency in comparison with the analog broadcasting service. That is, in the analog broadcasting, only a program is existed in one physical channel. However, in the digital broadcasting, several programs can be transmitted to one physical channel at the same time. Accordingly, the digital broadcasting service can simultaneously provide many programs.

[6] In the meantime, so as to easily select the desiring programs of users and raise the understanding of the users on the watching programs, an EPG (Electronic Program Guide) or a MINI EPG has been recently provided.

[7] The broadcasting station (or a service operator (SO) of a cable broadcasting) can provide various program information to the viewer through the EPG service, so that the corresponding viewer can note the program information. For example, the EPG service can provide various EPG data such as the channel information, past, present or future program titles, program abstract information, program beginning time or ending time and so on.

[8] Generally, the EPG data can be provided by periods or during a change thereof.

[9] In the meantime, the DMB provide high voice quality and high-definition broadcasting of CD or CVD class to the user through the personal portable information terminal (cellular phone, PDA, PMP etc.) or the terminal for car in traveling. Here, the providing systems have three systems such as a system A, a system Dh, and a system E. The system A conforms to a European digital broadcasting standard (OFDM; Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) of satellite and terrestrial DMB. The system Dh adopts the mixing manner such as the satellite DMB based on the terrestrial DMB. The system E adopts a code division multiple manner almost identical with a CDMA (code division multiple access).

[10] The DMB can provide the satellite DMB service and the terrestrial DMB ad described later.

[11] The terrestrial DMB provides a multimedia broadcasting for mobile reception using vacant twentieth VHF channels. Here, three blocks can be separated from one channel. Accordingly, it is anticipated that two video channels or one video channel and 3-4 audio channels come out of one block. Also, the terrestrial DMB aims at a free broadcasting for the most part automobile DMB. [12] The satellite DMB puts broadcasting signals through the satellite differently with the terrestrial DMB. Also, the satellite DMB adopts a receiving manner using a repeater called as a gap filler. Here, the satellite DMB plans to operate through a total of 39th channels including eleven video channels, twenty five audio channels, three data channel and so on. Also, the satellite DMB service aims at a low cost.

[13] However, the conventional digital multimedia broadcasting service aims at only a universal service and the EPG service thereof provides only the limited broadcasting program information and broadcasting provider customer service information in the range of limited transmitting bandwidth. Also, in order to supplement the service business model of free or low cost, the necessity of the subscriber-based increase and additional gains creation is gathering strength.

[14] Moreover, the businesses in the various areas such as credit card/ finance/stocks/currency/education/wire and wireless communications/internet portals/ ad agency/travel/aviation/home shopping/internet shopping malls etc., reach uppermost limit of the subscriber-based increase and additional gains through the existed medias (an analog broadcasting, wire and wireless Internet, newspapers and so on). Accordingly, the necessity of the raising of customer's allegiance, affiliating marketing and e-commerce for aiming at advertisement and sale of goods and services, and customer service by using the DMB broadcasting media and the terminal is gathering strength. In the meantime, Moreover, since the EPG is extremely utilized as a service application of the DMB users, the means for providing each service of the affiliated providers and charging account and cutting down the expenses of the providers and users all together has been demanded.

Disclosure of Invention Technical Problem

[16] Accordingly, the present invention has been made to solve the above-mentioned problems occurring in the prior art, and an object of the present invention is to provide a cost account system for providing a specialized service to specific customers using an exclusive EPG in two-way DMB environments and a method thereof capable of showing any information for selecting and watching any programs in a digital broadcasting through an exclusive EPG and providing means for watching and utilizing a shopping information, financial information, game information, educational information, quiz information, sports information, life information, two-way advertisement information, specific goods service catalog information, goods/services price comparison information, a VOD (video on demand) list for goods/service advertisement and sale, community information, membership management information, consulting information, and accounting information etc.

[17] Another object of the present invention is to provide a cost account system for providing a specialized service to specific customers using an exclusive EPG in two- way DMB environments and a method thereof capable of providing a basic electric program guide service to best customers by various providers in the various areas such as credit card/finance/stocks/currency/education/wire and wireless communications/ internet portals/ad agency/travel/aviation/home shopping/internet shopping malls etc. and integrating a shopping information, financial information, game information, educational information, quiz information, sports information, life information including news etc., two-way advertisement information, specific goods service catalog information, goods/services price comparison information, community information (user review and professional comments) usage, membership management information, consulting information, and accounting information etc. into a terminal application.

[18] Further another object of the present invention is to provide a cost account system for providing a specialized service to specific customers using an exclusive EPG in two-way DMB environments and a method thereof capable of charging marketing/ sales/customer service fees to DMB providers/terminal manufactures/exclusive EPG affiliated providers based on the affiliated business such a development and operation of the exclusive EPG terminal applications and providing the exclusive EPG applications on predetermined conditions such as no charge selectively, no charge within a given period, no charge in using given money or markings, mileage point settlement etc, whereby cutting down the expenses of the providers and users all together.

[19] Further another object of the present invention is to provide a cost account system for providing a specialized service to specific customers using an exclusive EPG in two-way DMB environments and a method thereof in that the DMB providers can consign all of the business process works related to the exclusive EPG such as development and operation of the exclusive EPG, a terminal backwards compatible test demanded by the DMB provider, service quality tests including a network test, various service contents management, an exclusive EPP application download of PUSH or PULL type through broadcasting or communication networks, an optimizing process for filtering, changing and transforming the contents, and a settlement agency, etc., so that the DMB provider can proceed the affiliating business without investigating the technical items and the affiliated providers can proceed the affiliating business without understanding the DMB techniques etc. inexpensively.

[20] Further another object of the present invention is to provide a cost account system for providing a specialized service to specific customers using an exclusive EPG in two-way DMB environments and a method thereof capable of selectively or con- centrativly providing the information of the corresponding provider to the user of the DMB service as a single application called as "EPG", thereby providing convenience in usage of DMB terminal to the customer and raising allegiance to the DMB provider and affiliated provider.

[21] Further another object of the present invention is to provide a cost account system for providing a specialized service to specific customers using an exclusive EPG in two-way DMB environments and a method thereof capable of effectively settling accounts related to the program contents watching, purchase of various goods, advertisement, discount/accumulated coupon providing, mileage accumulation and usage thereof in each service provider, whereby cutting down the expenses of the providers and users all together.

[22] Further another object of the present invention is to provide a cost account system for providing a specialized service to specific customers using an exclusive EPG in two-way DMB environments and a method thereof in that service providers holding a knowledge and an experience on the DMB and the developments thereof without having the service and development of the DMB for main industry thereof can easily and inexpensively utilize mobile/personal/multi-channel multimedia information, voice call/internet browser/SMS (Short Message Service)/MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service)/E-mail/Chatting/Image sensor based contents recognition/Integrated content browser/Photo and voice recognition/Location based service information, context information such as user's emotion provided in the mobile terminal for discriminative service and advertisement and sale of goods about the best customers.

[23] Further another object of the present invention is to provide a cost account system for providing a specialized service to specific customers using an exclusive EPG in two-way DMB environments and a method thereof capable of providing the basic EPG service for aiming to promote the customer loyalty and advertise and sell the goods and services by the providers in the various areas such as credit card/ finance/stocks/currency/education/wire and wireless communications/internet portals/ ad agency/travel/aviation/home shopping/internet shopping malls according to the development of the internet techniques such as a media technique, a wireless communication network or a web 2.0 and a preferring first data filtering service as a single application called as "EPG".

Technical Solution

[25] To accomplish the objects, the present invention provides a cost account system for providing a specialized service to specific customers using an exclusive EPG (Electronic Program Guide) in two-way DMB (Digital multimedia Broadcasting) environments comprising: a DMB provider service means for transmitting receiving broadcasting signals and program detail information according to a DMB transmission standard, controlling and managing yes or no of a service use of a mobile terminal subscriber, charging and settling a user fee on the DMB service of the mobile terminal, transmitting corresponding signals according to a management and schedule information of the exclusive EPG application, transmitting a corresponding information at the request of two-way advertisement information from the mobile terminal subscriber, and serving to accumulate points or cyber money according to the service use of the mobile terminal subscriber to scale, utilize the accumulated points or cyber money, or use a coupon issued by watching or usage of the two-way advertisement contents; an exclusive EPG provider service means for performing a service usage function for the DMB provider service means, downloading and managing applications capable of providing a data service transmitted by an exclusive EPG affiliated provider service means, providing shopping information, financial information, game information, educational information, quiz information, sports information, life information, two-way advertisement information, specific goods service catalog information, goods/services price comparison information, community information, membership management information, consulting information, and accounting information transmitted by the exclusive EPG affiliated provider service means to a specific area of the exclusive EPG through a DMB network, mobile network, and internet communication network, managing records of advertising contents, transforming the contents provided by the exclusive EPG affiliated provider service means according to the DMB environments, settling accounts during accumulating or using of the points and cyber money on a purchase or use of the goods and services through the exclusive EPG, performing an authentication and management of the mobile terminal of the subscriber, and performing process connection and interface functions according to orders of material and immaterial goods and services through the exclusive EPG or shopping malls; the exclusive EPG affiliated provider service means for managing the advertising information such as the shopping information, the financial information, the game information, the educational information, the quiz information, the sports information, the life information, the two-way advertisement information, the specific goods service catalog information, the goods/services price comparison information, the community information, the membership management information, the consulting information, and the accounting information transmitted through the exclusive EPG, managing the providing contents and membership information for membership authentication of the affiliated provider, executing an authentication for connecting to the exclusive EPG provider service means about yes or no of the permissions, and serving to accumulate the points and cyber money according to the providing of the contents and goods/services through the exclusive EPG and settle the accounts on the usage thereof; and the subscriber mobile terminal for transmitting the broadcasting signals from the exclusive EPG or basic EPG for providing the service.

[26] Preferably, the DMB provider service means comprises: an EPG information transmitting portion for transmitting the receiving broadcasting signals, channel tuning essential information, program detail information to the subscriber mobile terminal according to a DMB transmission standard; a DMB service subscriber managing portion for managing the data for demand and receipt of the DMB service subscriber and controlling and managing yes or no of the service use of the mobile terminal subscriber according to separate managing items of service type during providing of the exclusive EPG service; a charge settlement portion for charging, demanding, and receiving the user fee on the DMB service of the mobile terminal in consideration of the authentication and purchase information of the exclusive EPG provider service means and the exclusive EPG affiliated provider service means; an exclusive EPG application downloading portion for downloading the exclusive EPG application and transmitting it to the broadcasting network or the mobile communication network according to the management and schedule information of the exclusive EPG application; an exclusive EPG advertisement contents providing portion for transmitting the shopping information, financial information, game information, educational information, quiz information, sports information, life information, two-way advertisement information, specific goods service catalog information, goods/services price comparison information, community information, membership management information, consulting information, and accounting information received by the exclusive EPG affiliated provider service means to the DMB network or the mobile network and internet communication network; a two-way contents providing portion for transmitting the two-way advertisement to the mobile terminal at the request of the two-way shopping information, financial information, game information, educational information, quiz information, sports information, life information, two-way advertisement information, specific goods service catalog information, goods/services price comparison information, community information, membership management information, consulting information, and accounting information; a cyber money managing portion for serving to accumulate the points or the cyber money according to the service use, the billing, or the amount received of the mobile terminal subscriber to scale and utilizing the accumulated points or cyber money; and a DMB provider service controlling portion for generally controlling each element thereof electrically connected to each element.

[27] Preferably, the DMB exclusive EPG provider service means comprises: an exclusive EPG provider service application downloading portion for receiving the data of the exclusive EPG affiliated provider service means having the service usage function for the DMB provider service means so as to provide the data service; an exclusive EPG advertising contents providing and managing portion for transmitting the shopping information, financial information, game information, educational information, quiz information, sports information, life information, two-way advertisement information, specific goods service catalog information, goods/services price comparison information, a VOD (video on demand) list for goods/service advertisement and sale, community information, membership management information, consulting information, and accounting information to the DMB provider service means 100 and generating and managing the basic data on the charging and settlement in connection with the DMB provider service means; a contents transforming portion for transforming the contents provided by the exclusive EPG affiliated provider service means according to the DMB environments; an exclusive EPG provider service two- way contents providing portion for transmitting the two-way advertisement to the subscriber mobile terminal at the request of the two-way advertising information and providing the two-way service to the subscriber mobile terminal according to the data request and the reply thereof between the DMB provider and the exclusive EPG service provider; an exclusive EPG provider service settling portion for settling accounts on the exclusive EPG download, advertisement transmittance and subscriber authentication and the information usage fee related to the goods/services through the exclusive EPG and the price comparison information of the goods/services etc. and performing the settlement according to the accumulation or usage of the points and cyber money on the coupon and good/service purchase provided by the exclusive EPG; an exclusive EPG service subscriber managing portion for performing the authentication and management of the mobile terminal of the subscriber; an e-commerce integration processing portion for performing the process connection and the interface functions according to orders of material and immaterial goods and services through the exclusive EPG or shopping malls; and an exclusive EPG provider service controlling portion for generally controlling each element thereof electrically connected to each element. [28] Preferably, the exclusive EPG affiliated provider service means comprises: an exclusive EPG advertisement contents providing portion for managing the shopping information, the financial information, the game information, the educational information, the quiz information, the sports information, the life information, the two- way advertisement information, the specific goods service catalog information, the a VOD (video on demand) list for goods/service advertisement and sale, the goods/ services price comparison information, the community information, the membership management information, the consulting information, and the accounting information transmitted through the exclusive EPG; a wire and wireless contents managing portion for managing the contents provided through the wire and wireless internet; an exclusive EPG affiliated provider service member management and authentication portion for managing the subscriber of the exclusive EPG affiliated provider, any information necessary for yes or no of service subscription and authentication for usage permission, and executing the authentication thereof; an exclusive EPG affiliated provider service settling portion for settling accounts in relation to the customer and other provider according to the service providing of the affiliated provider, accumulating the points and cyber money according to the providing of the contents and goods/services through the exclusive EPG, and settling the accounts on the usage thereof through the credit card or cellular phone and so on; an e-commerce integration processing and charging portion for receiving and transmitting order request information based on any information processed from the exclusive EPG provider service means for performing the process connection and the interface functions according to orders of material and immaterial goods and services through the exclusive EPG or shopping malls and charging accounts on this; and an exclusive EPG affiliated provider service controlling portion for generally controlling each element thereof electrically connected to each element.

[29] Preferably, the exclusive EPG affiliated provider service means further comprises a customer consulting and processing portion for storing and managing any data on a customer dissatisfaction, an inquiry on goods, a service subscription, and a cancellation of the service through the EPG.

[30] Preferably, the exclusive EPG affiliated provider service means further comprises a campaign executing and managing portion for storing and managing event and promotion information so as to provide the promotion information to the subscribe mobile terminal through the exclusive EPG.

[31] Preferably, the exclusive EPG provider service application can download the applications through push or pull methods between the mobile terminal and the exclusive EPG provide service means.

[32] Preferably, the subscriber mobile terminal can be operated in each of satellite and terrestrial DMB middleware or an integrated satellite and terrestrial DMB middle ware, and operated through a firmware manner without the DMB middleware.

[33] Preferably, the exclusive EPG can meet standard requirements of each of the satellite DMB and the terrestrial DMB and the integrated exclusive EPG is capable of receiving the satellite DMB and the terrestrial DMB signals all together.

DMB broadcasting programs, recent ring back tones, ring sounds, a VOD clip, popular MP3, and contents copyright holders/durations/characteristics/addresses/prices etc. on today's best UCC (User Created Contents) provided through mobile/wireless Internet.

[39] Preferably, the exclusive EPG can be mixed with or separated from a basic EPC in terms of a function, a service identity such as a brand or logo of the exclusive EPG affiliated provider can be exposed as an image icon or a text if necessary, and the image icon or text can be converted into a specific wire/wireless internet WAP page during clicking or selecting thereof in the mobile terminal.

[40] Preferably, the exclusive EPG can provide broadcasting programs of the affiliated providers in addition to the DBM broadcasting program in case of terrestrial/ cable/satellite broadcasting providers, inform the subscriber of the mobile terminal of a prescribed-time subscribed through a reservation record menu or a reservation watching menu by means of a specific sound or a bell sound of the terminal, and reserve a STB remote operation by information synchronization with a STB (Set Top Box) existed in user's home.

[41] Preferably, in the exclusive EPG, the subscriber of the mobile terminal can always upgrade to a new version with all/partial download and upload synchronization techniques through various memory cards such as a USB memory card, a CF memory card, a compact flash I?II, a secure digital card (SD card), a multimedia memory card (MMC), a smart media card (SMC), a memory stick (MS), xD picture card, etc., an exclusive connector, or a near field communication technology such as a Zigbee or Bluetooth etc. by using interface manners of a PC or a mobile terminal.

[42] Preferably, the EPG information transmitting portion serves to manage the information provided from the exclusive provider through the DMB network and the mobile and wireless communication network and the transmitting time thereof according to a network division, basic/exclusive EPG division, affiliated provider division, advertising contents ID, advertising contents, available period, transmittance opening time, duration and so forth. [43] Preferably, the DMB service subscriber managing portion serves to manage customer information such as a membership ID, cellular phone No., resident registration No., application date for exclusive EPG using, application date for integrated request etc. on the customers of the exclusive EPG affiliated provider for requesting or admitting the exclusive EPG service provided by the exclusive EPG provider so as to integrally charge the related fees.

[44] Preferably, the charge settlement portion serves to manage the customer information on the coupon ID, available period thereof, application standard, yes or no of double usage, discount charge or rate, highest discount charge or rate etc, so as to settle the charge on the customer of the exclusive EPG affiliated provider.

[51] Preferably, the exclusive EPG advertising contents providing and managing portion serves to collect and manage contents, type, transmitting time, size, and success or failure of transmittance of the contents provided to the DMB provider through the exclusive network, Internet, USB in a case that the exclusive EPG advertising contents is transmitted through the DMB provider so as to settle the agency fee thereof and collect and manage other information on the contents, type, transmitting time, size, and success or failure of transmittance of the contents in a case that the exclusive EPG advertising contents is directly transmitted to mobile and wireless communication network so as to settle the agency fee thereof.

[52] Preferably, the contents transforming portion serves to transform the contents for wire and wireless internet provided by the various exclusive EPG affiliated providers to the exclusive EPG application contents capable of recognizing and expressing in the exclusive EPG application.
