Abstract
The present invention relates to an energy saving device (60) and more particularly, to an energy saving device which is adapted for use with an electric appliance, for example which requires charging and/or has a 'standby mode'. The invention provides an energy saving device that comprises: a means to sense power drawn from an electricity supply and a means to sense a condition of an appliance. A switch is operable to isolate the appliance from the mains supply and a processor determines when the switch isolates the mains supply. Thus the energy saving device decouples an appliance or charger from a supply once charged or switched to a standby mode.
