Abstract

La présente invention concerne la migraine et l'identification d'un marqueur de gène associé à la migraine. L'invention concerne en outre des séquences d'acide nucléique, et des séquences de protéine de ce locus ainsi que leur utilisation pour évaluer, diagnostiquer, pronostiquer ou traiter la migraine afin de prévoir la réponse au médicament chez un patient migraineux et d'identifier les agents qui modulent la fonction dudit marqueur ou de ladite protéine. L'invention concerne également des essais de criblage utilisant un tel gène ou une telle protéine ou des fragments de ceux-ci afin d'identifier des composés, qui sont bénéfiques pour les patients migraineux ou souffrant de troubles associés à la migraine. Enfin, l'invention concerne des procédés pour produire des modèles animaux de migraine par la modulation de l'expression de KCNK18 et/ou la modulation de l'expression de facteurs qui modulent l'expression de KCNK18.
