Abstract

The invention relates to a method for reducing the differences between the tensile stresses in flexible elements (38), such as yarns, which are transported in slip-free manner guided through the pinch of two cylindrical transport rollers (10, 11) pressed against each other and driven for rotation. The method comprises the steps of : (a) placing upstream of the transport rollers a number of driven cylindrical drive rollers (1-7), and guiding the elements through a certain overall angle of encirclement alpha over the drive rollers and subsequently guiding said elements through the pinch; (b) driving the drive rollers in the transport direction of the elements at a peripheral speed which is greater than the transport speed defined by the transport rollers, such that the tensions in all elements are' reduced by the same factor; (c) measuring the tensile stresses in the elements in the area between the final drive roller and the transport rollers and generating a measuring signal; (d) controlling the drives of the transport rollers on the basis of the measuring signal; and (e) subjecting all elements downstream of the transport rollers to a stretch which is almost equal for all elements. The invention also relates to a device for carrying out the method.
