Description

DISPOSITIVO ELECTRÓNICO ACTIVO MEJORADO DE COMPATIBILIDAD PARA REMOLQUES IMPROVED ACTIVE ELECTRONIC DEVICE FOR COMPATIBILITY FOR TRAILERS
El ámbito pues de la invención es el sector de la automoción, concretamente el de los accesorios para remolques, semiremolques y caravanas (en adelante remolques).OBJECT OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to a microcontroller-based electronic system for the electrical connection of trailers, semi-trailers or caravans to vehicles, more specifically for the power supply of the various electrical light signaling circuits, automatically adapting to the electrical characteristics of the own vehicle The scope of the invention is therefore the automotive sector, specifically that of accessories for trailers, semi-trailers and caravans (hereinafter trailers).
The object of the invention is to provide a system that allows the connection of trailers to vehicles in a manner compatible with the self-test systems. Systems that more and more vehicles incorporate, even different from each other; and that they do not work properly when a trailer equipped with light signaling is attached to these vehicles. And, on the other hand, that allows to inhibit the parking sensor of the vehicles that incorporate it when said trailer is connected to the vehicle, in order to eliminate false proximity alarms.
ESTADO DE LA TÉCNICASTATE OF THE TECHNIQUE
In recent years, the incorporation of self-test or "check-control" systems in cars has been generalized, which are intended to verify the correct condition of various vehicle systems. In relation to the invention presented, reference will be made only to the self-test systems that evaluate the state of the electrical signaling circuits.
The principle of operation of these systems consists in the comparison of values of electric current (intensity) pattern with real values measured in the vehicle.
In the event that the circuit tested is in a defective state, the current intensity consumed by it would show a significant disparity with the pattern and the corresponding indication would be activated.
The trailers incorporate a signaling system that is necessary to connect to the vehicle. On cars not equipped with self-test systems; that is to say, of traditional technology, this connection can be made directly, by means of the parallel coupling of the signaling lamps of the trailer to those of the vehicle.
This, however, implies a significant modification of the total electric current consumed with respect to the original circuit, a circumstance that the self-test systems detect and interpret as a result of a faulty installation. Therefore, it is necessary, from the electrical point of view, to separate the signaling circuit of the vehicle from that of the trailer, so that the original circuit is not affected.
On the other hand, an increasing number of vehicles incorporate an obstacle detection system in their rear part to help the parking maneuver. Therefore, when a trailer is connected to one of these vehicles, the proximity of the trailer itself causes the corresponding acoustic or light indication to be activated; becoming necessary the inhibition of said sensor in this last case.
Finally, in case of having to activate the light fog signal in the vehicle; When a trailer is connected, it turns out that the light of the trailer itself and that of the vehicle would be activated simultaneously, which produces a light effect on the rear of the confusing vehicle, which in some countries is prohibited. Therefore, it is necessary to automatically disconnect the fog lamp from the vehicle when the trailer is connected; so in the case described in this paragraph and in the It is essential to automatically detect the presence of a trailer connected to the vehicle.
OF THE INVENTION The improved active electronic device for compatibility with trailers that the invention proposes solves in a fully satisfactory manner the aforementioned problem, in the different aspects mentioned.
The system of the present invention is fed directly with the battery voltage of the vehicle so that two signals for the battery voltage and its return arrive from it. In addition, the device has 7 input signals to inform the device about the activation or deactivation of the same number of car lights, each connected to a module to report this eventuality to the 7 circuits or modules that process each of said above-mentioned activation or deactivation signals; as a consequence, through the 7 outputs of the device, the voltage and current needed to turn on each of the trailer lights is generated.
These ignition control modules or circuits, independent of each other, are composed of two resistors that receive an input signal and control the switching voltage of a NMOS medium power transistor and high input impedance, through the door of the same and whose output is made through its drain which, together with a third resistor, allows the control of the activation and deactivation of a PMOS power transistor, the latter providing a voltage equal to the battery voltage and the current necessary to Each light set by resistance. The seven input signals to inform each of the devices, their respective ignition control circuits and their outputs are each connected to the following lights: left brake light, right brake light, position lights, light fog lamp, left turn signal light, right turn signal light and reverse light. On the other hand, as mentioned at the beginning of this section, it presents a modular design that allows its adaptation to the number of lights needed by installing the same number of input signals, ignition control circuits and outputs. According to another feature of the invention, the device circuit will be integrated on a four-layer printed circuit board, according to a preferred embodiment, with an architecture that minimizes electromagnetic emissivity, by means of mass planes distributed by both layers. .
The microcontroller incorporated in this invention is responsible for executing 3 control algorithms programmed in it. The first one allows the detection of the connection or not of a trailer in order to inhibit or activate, where appropriate, the parking sensor of the vehicles; said detection is performed by activating a signal for the detection of current consumption.
Consequently, the vehicle parking sensor would be inhibited by disconnecting the power from the vehicle. The second is responsible for checking the status of the trailer lights, activating an acoustic and luminous alarm in case of failure in any of them; by checking the existence of consumption that would indicate that the operation is correct, or the absence thereof, indicating a failure in said light. The third party is responsible for detecting the activation signals of the vehicle lights and, consequently, activating the corresponding trailer (s); while allowing the rear fog lamp to be switched off, keeping the trailer itself activated.
The three algorithms are based on a technique of "polling" or cyclic verification. In any case, the first two described are only processed when there is no vehicle light activated; otherwise, these algorithms remain on hold. However, the aforementioned algorithms are able to discriminate between three types of "check-control": at the beginning of the connection of the vehicle systems, during normal operation of the vehicle at regular intervals of time (in the range of milliseconds) or a mixed type, that is, self-test at the beginning and during normal vehicle operation.
Todos los algoritmos descritos están codificados en lenguaje ANSI-C.All the described algorithms are encoded in ANSI-C language.
This algorithmic approach based on a microcontroller allows, when necessary, to modify the behavior (detection and signal processing) of the device, adapting to the specific characteristics of each vehicle or range of vehicles.

And Pl, common to all modules, by which the battery voltage and its return are connected. PREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION
In view of the figures outlined, it can be seen how the system for the electrical connection of trailers to vehicles that is recommended is composed of a series of modules (Ml) to (M7), each of which is associated with the ignition control or switching off the lamps of the trailer lighting system and all under supervision and control of MC Module.
The critical design condition will be given by the module that supports higher consumption, and therefore higher temperature. Said subsystem will be the one that groups the two trailer brake lights, consisting of two 21 W lamps. Due to the difference in power supplied by said module with respect to the others; these, of lower consumption, will allow to group several lamps of different signals but of simultaneous ignition under the control of a single subsystem, such as for example the position lights together with those of the license plate (5W lamps).
Each of the modules will have a power input from the vehicle's battery, a connection input of the corresponding lamp or lamps of the car to said module, and an output for the supply of the equivalent lamps arranged on the trailer.
Therefore, the signals on and off the trailer lights will be determined by the on and off of the rear lights of the vehicle; being, in any case, under control. of the MC Module that supervises the general operation of the device, as well as the periodic verification that these lights are in operation and no fault has occurred. It is not necessary to take the positive pole of the vehicle battery to the trailer lamps, as with any of the current commercial devices. On the other hand, the maximum dynamic consumption per module is 12,12mA, which guarantees compatibility with the "check-control" systems. In addition, due to the low ohmic losses of the PMOS transistor output power there is no degradation of the light output of the trailer lamps.
Therefore, the circuit will be designed to withstand the most conditions • unfavorable operation, which would correspond to the simultaneous operation of all lights, at the maximum temperature mentioned above.
The operating frequencies of the device, the voltages, and the intensities are at all times in very distant values to those that could present a danger to the operation of the different electronic devices of the vehicle.
