Abstract

The invention relates to a method for adjusting an idle stroke (hL) of an actuator (30), preferably a piezoelectric actuator (30), in a metering valve (1), particularly a fuel injector (1) or a head assembly (3) of a fuel injector (1), wherein an idle stroke (hL) of the actuator (30), associated to a activation reference voltage (U10) required for a predefined reference stroke (h10) of the actuator (30), is adjusted in the metering valve (1) in such a way that the idle stroke (hL) is selected to be so much larger than the activation reference voltage (U10) is low.
