Abstract

Disclosed are discharge lamps that stimulate the production of vitamin D in a person exposed thereto, and more specifically, to discharge lamps which over a predetermine exposure period stimulate a person's production of vitamin D without causing significant facultative pigmentation or melanin oxidization. Moreover, the present invention is also directed to discharge lamps that in addition to stimulating a person's production of vitamin D, emit photons that rejuvenate the collagen/elastin matrix that supports the person's skin, cartilage and bone.
