Abstract

L'invention concerne la production d'acides gras et, plus particulièrement, la production d'acide arachidonique (ARA) et d'acide eicosapentanoïque (EPA) d'acides gras polyinsaturés (PUFA) dans des cellules fongiques génétiquement modifiées, notamment, des cellules de Saccharomyces cerevisiae métaboliquement modifiées avec une teneur élevée en ARA et en EPA. L'invention se rapporte particulièrement à l'accroissement de la teneur en PUFA dans l'organisme hôte au moyen, par exemple, de diverses sur-expressions du cytochrome b5 et de la réductase du cytochrome b5 impliquées dans la désaturation d'acide gras, et de l'expression hétérologue du cytochrome b5 et de la réductase de cytochrome b5 ainsi que de l'expression de synthases d'acides gras hétérologues.
