Abstract
L'invention propose une structure d'un carter cylindre (10) d'un moteur à combustion interne, pour la circulation d'un liquide de refroidissement, le liquide circulant au travers d'un passage d'alimentation (16), d'une première chambre d'eau (24) enveloppant longitudinalement un premier côté des parois des cylindres (14), d'une seconde chambre d'eau (32) enveloppant longitudinalement un second côté des parois des cylindres (14), et d'un passage de sortie (18). Selon l'invention, la première chambre d'eau (24) du carter cylindre (10) comporte une partie supérieure (26) destinée à la circulation du fluide le long de chaque cylindre en direction de la partie supérieure du carter, et une partie inférieure (22) permettant une circulation longitudinale du fluide dans la partie basse du carter cylindre (10), les deux parties (22 et 26) étant reliées l'une à l'autre par des orifices principaux (28) permettant la distribution du fluide de la partie inférieure (22) à la partie supérieure (26).
Description
STRUCTURE DE REFROIDISSEMENT D'UN CARTER CYLINDRE
La présente invention concerne le refroidissement des moteurs à combustion interne. En particulier, l'invention se rapporte à une structure d'un carter cylindre pour la circulation d'un liquide de refroidissement dans le moteur.
Le carter cylindre contient les chambres de combustion du moteur, et présente des cavités, dites chambres d'eau, dans lesquelles circule un fluide de refroidissement. Les circuits de refroidissement, et en particulier la structure des chambres d'eau, sont conçus pour éviter les points chauds dans le moteur, et obtenir une bonne répartition des températures entre chaque chambre de combustion.
La publication FR 2 858 357 propose une structure de refroidissement de moteur, dans laquelle le liquide de refroidissement circule parallèlement à l'axe des cylindres. Un passage d'alimentation dans le carter délivre le liquide dans une première chambre d'eau d'un coté des cylindres. Le liquide de refroidissement traverse ensuite une chambre d'eau dans la culasse, et passe enfin dans une seconde chambre d'eau de l'autre coté des cylindres. La répartition du fluide sur chaque poste de combustion est réalisée dans le passage d'alimentation, en dimensionnant le diamètre de l'alésage du passage. Cependant une telle structure ne garantie pas une circulation parallèle à l'axe des cylindres, et sa réalisation reste complexe et onéreuse à mettre en oeuvre.
Le but de l'invention, est de proposer une structure de refroidissement d'un carter cylindre améliorée, de conception simple, et permettant une distribution équilibrée du flux de liquide de refroidissement parallèlement à chaque cylindre.
Dans ce but, l'invention propose une structure d'un carter cylindre d'un moteur à combustion interne, dont la première chambre d'eau comporte une partie supérieure destinée à la circulation du fluide le long de chaque cylindre en direction de la partie supérieure du carter cylindre, et une partie inférieure permettant une circulation longitudinale du fluide dans la partie basse du carter cylindre, les deux parties étant reliées l'une à l'autre par des orifices
principaux permettant la distribution du fluide de la partie inférieure à la partie supérieure.
Selon d'autres caractéristiques de l'invention, les orifices principaux peuvent se situer au niveau de chaque fût de cylindre pour répartir le liquide de refroidissement sur chaque cylindre.
La section des orifices principaux peut varier en fonction de l'éloignement de ces orifices par rapport au passage d'alimentation. Notamment, la section des orifices principaux peut diminuer avec l'éloignement des orifices par rapport au passage d'alimentation. La première chambre d'eau du carter cylindre peut comporter des orifices secondaires reliant la partie supérieure et la partie inférieure de la première chambre d'eau, et permettant de redresser le flux de liquide provenant des orifices principaux au sein de la partie supérieure. Les orifices secondaires peuvent se situer au niveau de chaque interfût de cylindre. La partie inférieure de la première chambre d'eau peut posséder des passages de matière, situés au niveau des interfûts, et dans l'axe des vis de serrage de la culasse pour permettre la transmission des efforts de serrage des vis vers la structure basse du carter cylindre.
La seconde chambre d'eau du carter cylindre peut comporter, comme dans la première chambre d'eau, une partie supérieure et une partie inférieure, les deux parties étant reliées l'une à l'autre par des orifices, se situant au niveau de chaque fût de cylindre, et dont la section peut varier en fonction de l'éloignement des orifices par rapport au passage de sortie.
La partie inférieure de la seconde chambre d'eau peut posséder des passages de matière, situés au niveau des interfûts, et dans l'axe des vis de serrage de la culasse pour permettre la transmission des efforts de serrage des vis vers la structure basse du carter cylindre.
L'invention sera désormais décrite dans des exemples en référence aux dessins annexés suivants : - la figure 1 est un schéma en perspective du carter cylindre selon un premier mode de réalisation de l'invention; - la figure 2 est une vue de dessus du carter cylindre de la figure 1 ;

En référence aux figures 1 à 5, illustrant un premier mode de réalisation de l'invention, un moteur à combustion interne comprend un carter cylindre 10 et une culasse (non représentée) fixée sur le carter cylindre 10. Le carter cylindre 10 ainsi que la culasse sont, généralement, des pièces moulées en acier, en fonte ou en aluminium.
Le carter cylindre 10 présente quatre fûts de cylindre 14, disposés en ligne dans la longueur du carter cylindre 10. Ces fûts de cylindre 14 forment les chambres de combustion du moteur, dans lesquelles les pistons sont placés.
Le carter cylindre 10 comprend aussi un passage d'alimentation 16, des chambres d'eau 24 et 32, et un passage de sortie 18, destinés à la circulation d'un liquide de refroidissement dans le moteur.
Le passage d'alimentation 16 est situé à une extrémité du carter cylindre 10. Dans cet exemple le passage d'alimentation 16 est situé dans la largeur du côté de la face avant 2 du carter cylindre 10. L'entrée de ce passage d'alimentation 16 est connectée à une pompe.
Le passage d'alimentation 16 débouche sur la partie inférieure 22 d'une première chambre d'eau 24, en formant un coude avec cette dernière. Cette partie inférieure 22 est dénommée répartiteur 22.
Le répartiteur 22 se situe dans la partie basse du carter cylindre 10, et s'étend sur toute la longueur du carter 10, en enveloppant les cotés latéraux par rapport à la ligne des cylindres 14, de la partie inférieure des parois des fûts 14.
Le répartiteur 22 possède des passages de matière 44 situés dans l'axe des alésages 46 pour la fixation des vis de serrage de la culasse, et dans les plans passant au niveau des interfûts 42 perpendiculairement à la ligne des cylindres 14. Ces passages de matière 44 permettent la transmission des efforts de serrage des vis de la culasse vers la structure basse du carter cylindre 10. Avantageusement les alésages 48 pour la fixation des chapeaux palier à la partie basse du carter cylindre 10, sont dans l'axe des passages de matière 44 et des alésages 46 pour la fixation des vis de serrage de la culasse. De cette manière, les efforts de serrage de la culasse et des chapeaux palier, s'opposent dans le carter cylindre 10.
La partie supérieure 26 de la première chambre d'eau 24 est destinée à la circulation de liquide de refroidissement le long des parois des fûts 14, et parallèlement à l'axe des cylindres. La partie supérieure 26 de la première chambre d'eau 24 est nommée chambre de montée d'eau. Cette chambre de montée d'eau 26 s'étend sur toute la longueur du carter 10 au dessus du répartiteur 22, et enveloppe les côtés latéraux par rapport à la ligne des cylindres 14, de la partie supérieure des parois des fûts 14. La partie supérieure 26 de la première chambre d'eau 24 du carter cylindre 10 communique avec le répartiteur 22 par des orifices principaux 28. Les orifices principaux 28 sont situés au niveau de chaque fût 14. La section des orifices principaux 28 est calibrée de manière à obtenir une distribution homogène du flux de liquide de refroidissement sur chaque cylindre 14. La première chambre d'eau 24 débouche sur la face supérieure 4 du carter cylindre 10 par des orifices de sortie 30.
Une seconde chambre d'eau 32 du carter cylindre enveloppe les côtés latéraux par rapport à la ligne des cylindres 14, des parois des fûts 14 opposé à la première chambre d'eau. Cette seconde chambre 32 s'étend sur toute la longueur du carter cylindre 10, et sur toute la hauteur des fûts de cylindre 14. La seconde chambre d'eau 32 débouche sur la face supérieure 4 du carter cylindre 10 par des orifices d'entrée 34. La seconde chambre d'eau 32 est reliée au passage de sortie 18 dans sa partie inférieure. Ce passage de sortie 18 débouche sur une face latérale 6 du carter cylindre 10, afin d'être raccordé au circuit de refroidissement hors du carter 10. Le circuit de refroidissement hors du carter 10 peut être composé d'élément de refroidissement du liquide comme un radiateur, d'une pompe et de tout autre élément utilisé dans ce type de circuit.
Les orifices de sortie 32 de la première chambre d'eau 24, et les orifices d'entrée 34 de la seconde chambre d'eau 32, situés sur la face supérieure 4 du carter cylindre 10, correspondent à des orifices d'entrée et de sortie de la chambre d'eau de la culasse.
Le fonctionnement de l'invention est le suivant : Le liquide de refroidissement entraîné par une pompe, située à l'extérieur du moteur, pénètre dans la première chambre d'eau 24 du carter cylindre 10, par le passage d'alimentation 16. Le passage d'alimentation 16 alimente le répartiteur 22 de la première chambre d'eau 24, dans lequel le fluide circule dans la longueur du carter 10.
Le répartiteur 22 permet au liquide de refroidissement d'alimenter la première chambre d'eau 24 sur toute sa longueur. La séparation entre la partie supérieure 26 et la partie inférieure 22 de la chambre d'eau 24, est réalisée par des orifices principaux 28 dont les sections sont calibrées de manière à obtenir une distribution homogène du flux de liquide de refroidissement dans la chambre de montée d'eau 26 de la première chambre d'eau 24. Le fluide circule dans la chambre de montée d'eau 26 le long de chaque cylindre en direction de la partie supérieure du carter 10. Les orifices principaux 28 permettent d'équilibrer le débit entre les différents cylindres 14. Pour cela, leur section est calibrée en fonction de leur éloignement du
passage d'alimentation d'eau 16. La section des orifices principaux 28 diminue avec l'éloignement des orifices principaux 28 par rapport au passage d'alimentation d'eau 16.
La chambre de montée d'eau 26 du carter 10 alimente la chambre d'eau de la culasse. Après avoir traversé la culasse dans le sens de la largeur du moteur, le liquide de refroidissement redescend dans la seconde chambre d'eau 32 du carter cylindre 10, avant d'être évacué par le passage de sortie 18 sur une face latérale 6 du carter cylindre 10.
Selon un autre mode de réalisation, en référence aux figures 6, 7 et 8, la partie supérieure 26 de la première chambre d'eau 24 du carter cylindre 10 communique avec le répartiteur 22 par des orifices principaux 28 comme dans le premier mode de réalisation, et par des orifices secondaires 40 placés au niveau des interfûts 42. La section des orifices secondaires 40 est calibrée de manière à obtenir un écoulement vertical localement au niveau des interfûts 42, permettant une séparation des flux provenant des orifices principaux 28, en les redressant verticalement du fait de l'énergie cinétique plus élevée du flux provenant des orifices secondaires 40.
Un des avantages de ce mode de réalisation, est de redresser chaque flux provenant des orifices principaux 28 à l'aide des flux créés par les orifices secondaires 40, et ainsi obtenir une meilleure répartition du liquide de refroidissement entre les cylindres 14.
L'invention n'est pas limitée aux deux modes de réalisations décrits précédemment. Elle peut être appliquée selon d'autres variantes, comme, par exemple, en ajoutant un répartiteur pour l'évacuation du liquide de la seconde chambre comme sur la figure 9. Selon cette variante, la seconde chambre d'eau 32 du carter cylindre 10 comporte, comme dans la première chambre d'eau 24, une partie supérieure et une partie inférieure, les deux parties étant reliées l'une à l'autre par des orifices dont la section peut varier en fonction de l'éloignement des orifices par rapport au passage de sortie. La partie inférieure de la seconde chambre d'eau possède des passages de matière 44, situés au niveau des interfûts 42, et dans l'axe des
vis de serrage de la culasse pour permettre la transmission des efforts de serrage des vis vers la structure basse du carter cylindre 10.
L'invention ne se limite pas non plus au cas des moteurs à quatre cylindres en ligne comme décrit dans les exemples. Elle s'applique aussi pour toutes autres architectures de moteur, comme celles en V, en W, à plat ou en étoile, et quelque soit le nombre de cylindres, chaque banc de cylindres pouvant être considéré comme l'exemple de base du moteur en ligne et auquel s'applique l'invention.
Dans tous les modes de réalisations, toute la structure de circulation du liquide de refroidissement est créée lors du moulage du carter cylindre. Le calibrage de la section des orifices principaux ne nécessite donc aucun alésage supplémentaire, ni l'utilisation d'éléments supplémentaires comme des inserts à la coulée. Ces caractéristiques donne donc un avantage économique à l'invention.
Claims
1. Structure d'un carter cylindre (10) d'un moteur à combustion interne, pour la circulation d'un liquide de refroidissement, le liquide circulant au travers d'un passage d'alimentation (16), d'une première chambre d'eau (24) enveloppant longitudinalement un premier côté des parois des cylindres (14), d'une seconde chambre d'eau (32) enveloppant longitudinalement un second côté des parois des cylindres (14), et d'un passage de sortie (18), caractérisée en ce que la première chambre d'eau (24) du carter cylindre (10) comporte une partie supérieure (26) destinée à la circulation du fluide le long de chaque cylindre en direction de la partie supérieure du carter (10), et une partie inférieure (22) permettant une circulation longitudinale du fluide dans la partie basse du carter cylindre (10), les deux parties (22 et 26) étant reliées l'une à l'autre par des orifices principaux (28) permettant la distribution du fluide de la partie inférieure (22) à la partie supérieure (26).
2. Structure d'un carter cylindre (10) selon la revendication 1 , caractérisée en ce que les orifices principaux (28) se situent au niveau de chaque fût de cylindre (14) pour répartir le liquide de refroidissement sur chaque cylindre.
3. Structure d'un carter cylindre (10) selon une des revendications précédentes, caractérisée en ce que la section des orifices principaux (28) varie en fonction de l'éloignement des orifices (28) par rapport au passage d'alimentation (16).
4. Structure d'un carter cylindre (10) selon une des revendications précédentes, caractérisée en ce que la section des orifices principaux (28) diminue avec l'éloignement des orifices (28) par rapport au passage d'alimentation (16).

Structure d'un carter cylindre (10) selon une des revendications précédentes, caractérisée en ce que la première chambre d'eau (24) du carter cylindre (10) comporte des orifices secondaires (40) reliant la partie supérieure (26) et la partie inférieure (22) de la première chambre d'eau (24), lesdits orifices secondaires (40) permettant de redresser le flux de liquide provenant des orifices principaux (28) au sein de la partie supérieure (26).
6. Structure d'un carter cylindre (10) selon la revendication 5, caractérisée en ce que les orifices secondaires (40) se situent au niveau de chaque interfût (42) de cylindre (14).

Structure d'un carter cylindre (10) selon une des revendications précédentes, caractérisée en ce que la partie inférieure (22) de la première chambre d'eau (24) possède des passages de matière (44), situés au niveau des interfûts (42), et dans l'axe des vis de serrage de la culasse pour permettre la transmission des efforts de serrage des vis vers la structure basse du carter cylindre (10).

Structure d'un carter cylindre (10) selon une des revendications précédentes, caractérisée en ce que la seconde chambre d'eau (32) du carter cylindre (10) comporte une partie supérieure et une partie inférieure, les deux parties étant reliées l'une à l'autre par des orifices, se situant au niveau de chaque fût de cylindre (14).
9. Structure d'un carter cylindre (10) selon la revendication 8, caractérisée en ce que la section des orifices reliant la partie supérieure et la partie inférieure de la seconde chambre d'eau (32), varie en fonction de l'éloignement des orifices par rapport au passage de sortie (18).
10. Structure d'un carter cylindre (10) selon une des revendications 8 ou 9, caractérisée en ce que la partie inférieure de la seconde chambre d'eau (32) possède des passages de matière, situés au niveau des interfûts (42), et dans l'axe des vis de serrage de la culasse pour permettre la transmission des efforts de serrage des vis vers la structure basse du carter cylindre (10).
