Abstract

This invention relates to a communication method enabling construction of sentences, in particular, and the preferably portable device for implementation thereof. To this end, it offers a communication method for deaf and/or deaf-mute persons enabling sentence construction, this method being implemented via a device comprising: input and/or selection means (1) comprising keys, a processing module (2), a database management module (2), a display module (3) capable of including a screen; a memory module (4, 5), a storage module for at least one database (6), characterized in that it includes the following steps: a) displaying of general themes, b) acting on a key corresponding to a general theme, c) scrolling of information relating to the general theme thus selected, d) selection of appropriate relative information by acting on the corresponding key, e) storing the selection in memory, f) displaying the phrase or message thus constructed on the screen and/or vocalization of said message by means of voice synthesis.

COMMUNICATION METHOD FOR MUETS AND / OR MUTS AND ITS DEVICE FOR IMPLEMENTING THE SAME

The present invention relates to a communication method for particular a sentence construction and its preferentially portable device implementation. It applies more particularly, but not exclusively, to persons provisionally or permanently and totally or partially dumb and / or dumb using or not using sign language or to anyone preferring not to show an accent, stuttering, difficulty in articulating. The invention can be applied to elderly persons who have suffered cerebral injury, persons who no longer have vocal cords or tongues following an operation for cancer, and children with autism. Finally, paralyzed and tracheotomized persons may use a larger device.

In general, during their daily activities and movements, dumb and / or dumb people need to get in touch with other people.

To communicate, they most often use an erasable slate or sign.

This solution is not rewarding, not fast and can be cumbersome.

There are also devices with physical keys for composing syllables and other more sophisticated devices using a display and a data entry mode but they are often bulky and require lengthy manipulation, detrimental to the conversation. These devices are bulky and heavy and can not be stored in a shirt or jacket pocket.

On the other hand, these devices do not make it possible to fully anticipate the composition of common and repetitive sentences, or to give an instantaneous answer by using complex sentences, because of the incompressible delay necessary to perform the input.

The object of the invention is to solve these disadvantages, in particular:

• decreasing the time required to formulate a message;

• by anticipating the writing of a message according to the circumstances

• further adapting language complexity to a person's disability level and to writing or conceptualizing what they want to communicate;

Adapting to the user according to his possibly associated handicap by using in particular touch keys both virtual and virtual, a virtual key being fully customizable;

• by allowing to display the message composed on a screen, which allows to guarantee a great discretion.

Another advantage of the system is to seek to save time on a classic keyboard input that can annoy the speaker because it is carried out letter by letter. The system offers a whole set of features that fully or partially saves the typing of words or the number of clicks and allows you to anticipate phrases or words that occur repeatedly in a regular conversation.

In addition, the system is visually adjustable for comfort for people with a vision disorder and can adjust for example the size of characters entered or the keyboard but also the size of pictograms or video sequences of sign language. The finger can also be used as a stylus when choosing large keys

For this purpose, it proposes a communication method for dumb and / or deaf-mutes allowing sentence construction, this method being implemented by a device comprising:

a display module that can include a screen;

a treatment module;

The keys may be physical and / or virtual, such as those of a keyboard. The physical and / or virtual keys can be animated or configurable. In the case of animated keys, they may consist for example of an icon representing a general theme.

The method may further enable the speech synthesis of all or part of the constructed sentence.

The device may further comprise a speech synthesis module, means for controlling said speech synthesis and listening means such as earphones, a headset or a speaker.

The speech synthesis can be triggered automatically with each selection or by using a specific key after having partially or entirely composed a sentence.

The device may include visual means for tracking the speech utterance and the progression of the sentence. The syllables of the sentence may change color or be highlighted as and when they are spoken so that the disabled person, especially the deaf person, can know when the sentence is over.

Alternatively, a progress bar of the sentence utterance may be displayed.

According to one variant, the device according to the invention may comprise a virtual alphanumeric touch keyboard of the QWERTY, QWERTY or ABCD type or else customized in particular according to the frequency of use of the input keys. The advantage of the thematic solution is also to prepare questions or comments in a given circumstance, for example questions on a file for a meeting and to delete the file after the meeting.

In contrast to free keyboard input, this theme mode assumes a pre-keyboard phase. For example, pressing the "Enter" key twice may create a colored frame around the phrase. You just have to touch the frame at any point so that the text is automatically vocalized. A phrase can also be selected by song by selecting the word or phrase with the stylus and clicking on the "play" button, but this precise selection requires a manual address.

According to another variant, the user has an abbreviated keyboard that allows to configure a personal virtual keyboard with eg 59 keys. The relative and / or additional information may correspond to sounds recorded for example musical or emitted by a person. The relative and / or additional information may correspond to pictograms, that is to say to a simple and / or animated drawing. Advantageously, this mode does not require mastering the alphabet.

The relative and / or additional information may correspond to pre-written sentences or to animated sequences in sign language.

Of course, the device according to the invention may comprise means for selecting the different general themes.

This device can be useful in various ways:

It may allow the user to present himself by displaying a message presented in a graphic form such as a slide that can be full screen and including text and / or images, possibly accompanied by a voice synthesis of this message. This way of presenting oneself at a distance is not disparaging for the speech impaired, as can the use of an erasable slate or a sign.

On the contrary, the vector having a strong technological connotation, the use of the system is rewarding.

For example, the most common message may be "I'm dumb" and on a second slide "would you like to help me? And on a third "thank you". The passage from one slide to another is done, either automatically and timed, or by means of an action on a key of the device. The mute person chooses one or more animated sequences representing what it means, in sign language, the corresponding sentence is displayed and / or is translated into speech synthesis. For example, the three signs corresponding to "me", "want", "eat" will be converted to "I want to eat".

The device may include or use a search engine to allow, in the opposite direction, the interlocutor not knowing the sign language to search on the basis of keywords a complete preprogrammed sentence that is validated and scheduled according to the chronology of the sign language and corresponding to an animated sequence. The selected phrase can be translated into sign language using a corresponding animated sequence. According to one variant, the device according to the invention may be shaped to be used with a mobile phone or the method may be integrated into mobile phones called "smartphones" which integrate a pocket computer.
