Abstract

The invention relates to the field of lipolytic enzymes, more specifically, to ester hydrolases involved in cholesterol metabolism. Therefore, the invention provides isolated nucleic acids encoding a neutral cholesterol, ester hydrolase activity, whereby the coding sequence of said gene is at least 70% homologous to SEQ ID No. 1 2 provided herein. Furthermore, the invention provides isolated proteins having the said activity encoded by the nucleic acid of the invention. In yet another aspect, the invention provides an antibody directed against the protein as mentioned hereinabove.
