Abstract

The invention relates to the field of cholesterol-regulated genes, specifically, to the MAC 30 gene and its regulation by cholesterol and statins. The invention provides isolated nucleic acids encoding a MAC30, characterized in that the coding sequence of said gene is at least 70% homologous to SEQ ID No. 1 provided herein. The invention further provides isolated proteins having MAC30 activity encoded by the nucleic acid of the invention. The invention also provides antibodies directed against the said protein.
