A peg (2), particularly a clothes peg, including a plate-shaped end part (4) which is connected with mainly plate-shaped primary holder parts (6), and connected with a mainly plate-shaped secondary holder part (8), where the primary holder parts are constituted by substantially mutually parallel holder parts (6) projecting from opposing sides of the end part, where the secondary holder part is constituted by a tongue- shaped holder part (8) projecting from the end part and disposed midway between the substantially parallel holder parts (6), and where the primary holder parts (6) opposite the end part (4) and spaced apart therefrom are interconnected by means of a traversing holder part ( 10) .
Description
Peg, particularly clothes peg
Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a peg, in particular a clothes peg, of the kind specified in the preamble of claim 1.
Background of the Invention
The best known clothes pegs of wood or plastic consists of two peg parts of wood or plastic, which are resiliently interconnected by means of helical spring provided between the peg parts, the spring having laterally projecting end parts that engage traversing grooves externally of opposing sides of the peg parts. This means that prior art clothes pegs of the mentioned kind have limited application in practice, which is largely limited to the direct purpose of application, namely to suspend clothes and similar pliable items on a tight line or clothes-line.
Object of the Invention The object of the invention is to indicate an improved peg, particularly clothes peg, which by means of simple technical measures can provide an improved holding force, and which at the same time provides the peg with further application options.
Description of the Invention
The peg according to the invention is characterised in that the primary holder parts are constituted by substantially mutually parallel holder parts projecting from opposite sides of the end part, that the secondary holder part is constituted by a tongue-shaped holder part projecting from the end part and disposed midway between the substantially parallel holder parts, and that the primary holder parts opposite the end part and spaced apart therefrom are interconnected by means of a traversing holder part. By simple technical measures, the peg may hereby provide an improved holding force as well as the peg is provided further application options at the same time.
Beside its primary purpose as clothes peg, the peg according to the invention may find alternative application as suspension for e.g. dishtowels, towels or similar flat items of
fabric or other pliable material, as the said end part of the peg for this alternative purpose may be designed with one or more holes for mounting on a wall by means of screws.
The peg according to the invention is suitably designed so that the connection between the tongue-shaped holder part and the end part is bent so that the holder tongue is offset in plane outwards in relation to the primary holder parts.
With the object of facilitating to position the peg correctly on e.g. a clothes line, it may be advantageous to design the peg so that at a short distance from the end part, the primary holder parts are designed with traversing elevations which together with the tongue-shaped holder part form a traversing holder groove, which e.g. is adapted for receiving a clothes line or corresponding line-shaped suspension means.
m order to facilitate passing the peg down over a clothes line and a suspension item, this may be designed in an advantageous way so that an outer free end part of the tongue-shaped holder part is designed with an outwards sloping end part.
With the intention of achieving improved holding force from the peg according to the invention, this may be designed so that an inner part of the tongue-shaped holder part extends conically in direction away from the end part, i.e. has increasing width. In a simple way is hereby achieved a kind of wedge action, i.e. a piece of cloth is wedged behind the thick part of the holder tongue if the piece of cloth is pulled.
The peg according to the invention is made of a suitable plastic material, e.g. POM (polyoxymethylene), by injection moulding. POM is characterised by great strength, rigidity and hardness, good chemical and environmental properties and low moisture absorption. Alternatively, the peg according to the invention can be made of another suitable plastic material, e.g. PP (polypropylene), by injection moulding.
According to a further alternative, the peg, particularly the clothes peg, according to the invention can be made of a suitable metal alloy by casting. Or, according to a further alternative, be made of a suitable metal by press forging.
A further alternative will be an very environment-friendly clothes peg which is made of a suitable natural material, e.g. comminuted straw, which is compressed by using a suitable bonding agent.

Detailed Description of the Invention The clothes peg 2 shown in Figs. 1 — 7 includes a predominantly plate-shaped end part 4 which is connected at opposite sides with predominantly mutually parallel narrow plate-shaped primary holder parts 6, a secondary, also predominantly plate-shaped tongue-shaped secondary holder part 8 which is connected with the end part 4, and which is disposed between the primary holder parts 6.
Opposite the end part 4, the primary holder parts 6 are interconnected by means of a transverse holder part 10 which is disposed spaced apart from an outer end 12 of the
tongue-shaped secondary holder part 8, so that there is formed a closed suspending hanger 14 of the clothes peg 2.
As most clearly shown in Figs. 3 and 4, the connection between the holder tongue 8 and the end part 4 are bent at 11 , so that the holder tongue 8 is offset in plane outwards in relation to the primary holder parts 6. At a short distance from the end parts 4, the holder parts 6 are designed with elevations 16 which together with the bent connection 11 of the holder tongue 8 form a transverse holder groove 18, e.g. for a clothes line 20.
Figs. 3 and 4 furthermore illustrate that an outer end 12 of the holder tongue 8 extends obliquely outwards, so that it becomes easier to insert e.g. a clothes line 20 in the holder groove 18, possibly for fixing a piece of clothes or a towel on the clothes line by means of the clothes peg 2.
The end part 4 may possibly be designed with one or more holes for mounting the peg 2 on a wall, so that the peg 2 can be used for suspending towels, dish towels, facecloths or similar pliable items which may just be passed upwards behind the holder tongue 8 in order to be fixed by wedging between this and the primary holder parts 6.
An innermost part of the holder tongue 8 is designed conically in such a way that the width of the cross-section of the holder tongue 8 is increased outwards with increasing distance from the end part 4, thus achieving hereby a wedge action in a simple way, i.e. pulling in a piece of cloth fixed between the holder tongue 8 and the holder parts 6 only makes the piece of cloth wedge itself more firmly.
The closed suspension hanger 14 may e.g. be used for suspending a clothes hanger, as a hook 24 (Fig. 11) of a usual clothes hanger may be suspended in a secure way in the suspension hanger 14, i.e., for example, the wind cannot inadvertently displace the clothes hanger along a clothes line 20 by suspending on the clothes line 20.

Fig. 10 illustrates how the clothes peg 2' may readily be stacked rather densely, which is particularly advantageous by packing and shipping clothes pegs according to the invention, which is also the case with the preferred embodiment of the clothes peg 2, cf. Figs.. 1 - 7, which may correspondingly be stacked quite densely, as the holder tongue 8 of a clothes peg 2 fits in the corresponding hollow at the rear side of the holder tongue 8 by an adjacent peg in the stack etc.
As previously mentioned, the peg according to the invention is made of a suitable plastic material, e.g. POM (polyoxymethylene), by injection moulding. POM is characterised by great strength, great rigidity and hardness, good chemical and environmental properties and modest moisture absorption. Alternatively, the peg according to the invention can be made of another suitable plastic material, e.g. PP (polypropylene), by injection moulding, hi other words, the peg according to the invention is made of a non-corroding plastic material, which is added UV stabiliser to make the peg more resistant to UV radiation, so that the service life of the peg is considerably prolonged.
The peg can be made in desired colours, i.e. the peg can be made in a customer- specific colour. Finally, it is to be mentioned that particularly the plate-shaped end part 4 and the plate-shaped holder tongue 8 are suited for customer-specific commercial print.
Claims
1. A peg (2), particularly a clothes peg, including a plate-shaped end part (4) which is connected with mainly plate-shaped primary holder parts (6), and connected with a mainly plate-shaped secondary holder part (8), characterised in that the primary holder parts are constituted by substantially mutually parallel holder parts (6) projecting from opposite sides of the end part, that the secondary holder part is constituted by a tongue-shaped holder part (8) projecting from the end part and disposed midway between the substantially parallel holder parts (6), and that the primary holder parts (6) opposite the end part (4) and spaced apart therefrom are interconnected by means of a traversing holder part (10).
2. Peg (2), particularly clothes peg, according to claim 1, characterised in that the connection between the tongue-shaped holder part (8) and the end part (4) is bent (11) so that the holder tongue (8) is offset in plane outwards in relation to the primary holder parts (6).

Peg (2), particularly clothes peg, according to claim 1, characterised in that at a short distance from the end part (4), the primary holder parts (6) are designed with traversing elevations (16) which together with the tongue-shaped holder part (8) form a traversing holder groove (18), which e.g. is adapted for receiving a clothes line (20) or corresponding linear suspension means.
4. Peg (2), particularly clothes peg, according to claim 1, characterised in that an outer free end part (12) of the tongue-shaped holder part (8) is designed with an outwards sloping end part.
5. Peg (2), particularly clothes peg, according to claim 1, characterised in that an innermost part (22) of the tongue-shaped holder part (8) in direction away from the end par (4) extends conically, i.e. has increasing width.
6. Peg (2), particularly clothes peg, according to any preceding claim, characterised in that it is made of a suitable plastic material, e.g. POM (polyoxymethylene), by injection moulding.
7. Peg (2), particularly clothes peg, according to any preceding claim, characterised in that it is made of a suitable plastic material, e.g. PP (polypropylene), by injection moulding.
8. Peg (2), particularly clothes peg, according to any preceding claim, characterised in that it is made of a suitable metal alloy by casting.
9. Peg (2), particularly clothes peg, according to any preceding claim, characterised in that it is made of a suitable metal by press forging.
10. Peg (2), particularly clothes peg, according to any preceding claim, characterised in that it is made of a suitable natural material, e.g. comminuted straw, which is compressed by using a suitable bonding agent.
