Abstract

The invention relates to a distribution network for broadcast data which is received at a receiving means location. The network typically includes a plurality of cable connections which carry the data in an RF or more typically an optical mode into which the same is converted at the receiving means location. A plurality of decoding means locations are connected to the common receiving means via the network and each of the decoding means receives substantially all of the received data simultaneously from said receiving means. The receiving means may include a satellite antenna and LNB for receiving data transmitted by satellite and also antenna for receiving digital terrestrial television data and/or digital audio broadcast data. The decoding means at each location can be independently controlled by a respective user at that location to request any of the data received at the receiving means simultaneously. Thus each user can control, without the need to refer to or be impacted by the user selections made on other decoding means connected to the system at that time.
