Abstract

The invention relates to a transverse drive for a cylinder of a printing press, comprising a roller bearing (3) for mounting a printing press cylinder (2) with a degree of axial freedom, a torque motor (8) as rotary drive for the printing press cylinder (2), wherein the rotor (7) of the torque motor (8) is rigidly connected to a shaft journal (4) on the printing press cylinder (2) and a shaft journal extension (11) projecting over the torque motor (8) which engages with a linear drive (12) permitting a transverse movement of the printing press cylinder (2) with adjustable stroke.
