Abstract

A floating platform structure for supporting a load on a body of water is provided, having a platform and a plurality of variable volume floatation chambers downwardly depending with respect to the platform. Each floatation chamber has a closed upper end associated with the platform and a movable closed bottom end adapted for floating on the surface of water. Each floatation chamber has an internal chamber volume between the upper end and the bottom end that in operation is variable and responsive to the local level of the water with respect to which said corresponding bottom end is floating. The floatation chambers have a working fluid at least during operation of said platform, and at least in operation, the floatation chambers are in open fluid communication one with another.
