Hubs 50 are aligned with each other such that they substantially (within a few mm) share a common axis when lid 20 is in the closed position as shown in Figs. 4 and 5. Each hub 50 has a pair of retaining fingers 52 that are adapted to securely retain a media disc 54 on hub 50 within container 2. Each retaining finger 52 includes a vertical leg 56, a shoulder 58, a locking flange 60, and a horizontal arm 62. Arms 62 are wedge-shaped when viewed from above to provide room for the arms 62 on the other hub to be disposed in the space between arms 62 when the lid is closed as shown in Figs. 4 and 5.
  • Each locking flange 60 is adapted to be disposed over the edge of media disc 28 to retain disc 28 on hub 2.
  • Locking flanges 60 are sized and configured to allow disc 28 to be forced over opposed locking flanges 60 with a snap fit connection.
  • Flanges 60 may have angled upper surfaces with opposed underlying locking surfaces disposed perpendicular to the finger to lock discs 28 in place.
  • Each flange 60 has a height that is less than half of the thickness of disc 54.
  • Retaining fingers 52 on the base hub are rotated a quarter turn (90 degrees) from retaining fingers 52 on lid hub so that fingers 52 overlap each other when the container is closed as shown in Figs. 4 and 5.
  • This overlapped configuration allows the overall height of the container to be reduced resulting in a thinner container.
  • fingers 52 on lid 20 are disposed on a reference line 70 that is substantially perpendicular to living hinges 32 and 34 while fingers 52 of hub 50 on base 10 are disposed on a reference line 70 that is substantially parallel to living hinges 32 and 34.
  • Other configurations are contemplated wherein reference lines 70 and 72 remain disposed at 90 degree angles regardless of their orientation with respect to the hinges.
  • Another advantage to the overlapped finger configuration is that the flanges 60 may be configured to be trapped between media discs 54 as shown in Figs. 4 and 5.
  • Hubs 50 may also include positioning fingers 80 disposed between retaining fingers 52.
  • Each positioning finger 80 includes a vertical leg 82, a shoulder 84, and a horizontal arm 86.
  • Arms 86 are wedge-shaped when viewed from above to match the size and shape of arms 86.
  • arms 86 are slightly spaced from arms 62 when the container is closed. This configuration allows the container to close without any interference from the hubs.
  • the arms 62 and 86 are close enough, however, to engage and provide support to the base and lid in situations where a compressive force is applied to the container.
  • arms 62 and 86 are configured to engage each other when the container is closed to provide this support.
  • each hub 50 includes a shelf 90 that is raised above the upper surface of walls 12/22. Shelf 90 is used to add rigidity to the container at the locations of hubs 50. Shelf is also used to lift media discs 54 off of walls 12/22 as shown in Figs. 4 and 5.

Abstract

L'invention porte sur un contenant pour supports de stockage de contenu multimédia comprenant une base et un couvercle avec un moyeu disposé à la fois sur la base et sur le couvercle.
