- the cross section can be any shape including circular, rectangular, trapezoidal, polygonal, combinations thereof, and the like.
- top and bottom end closure structures 14, 16 have cross sections that are similar to that of the tubular structure 12.
- the top and bottom end closure structures 14, 16 are tapered such that each is easily received in an open end of the tubular structure 12.
- the top end closure structure 14 defines a top wall 20 that includes a raised portion 18.
- the raised portion 18 defines a cavity 22 and includes a structure for receiving and positioning a scent emitter 24, as shown in FIG. 2.
- the scent emitter 24 is a means for storing a scent, such as a piece of paper, swatch label, or fabric that has been scented.
- a scent such as a piece of paper, swatch label, or fabric that has been scented.
- the piece of paper may be soaked in a scented liquid or printed with a scented ink.
- the scent emitter 24 may be a scented liquid, gas, or solid that is placed within the expelling package 10.
- the scent emitter 24 can be a micro-encapsulated fragrance or a fragrance coating that is sprayed or otherwise applied onto an inner surface of the expelling package 10.
- vents in the form of apertures 26 are included in the top wall 20 such that air may flow through or past the scent emitter 24 and in and/or out of the chamber C of the expelling package 10.
- the size, number, and arrangement of apertures 26 are merely design decisions. In alternative embodiments, air flows through vents such as tubes, porous membranes, manifolds, baffles, and the like.
- the expelling package 10 further includes means for expelling a scent or otherwise means for expelling air from the chamber C. As shown in FIG. 3, the tubular structure 12 can be compressed to force air through the apertures 26.
- the air in the chamber C is scented by the scent emitter 24 or otherwise forced past the scent emitter 24 to expel a scent or scented air from the expelling package 10.
- FIGs. 4-8 An alternative embodiment of an expelling package 30 is shown in FIGs. 4-8.
