Abstract
The present invention is about a fast biodiesel production process, called NOBA process, where transesterification reaction and separation of glycerol take place concurrently using novel reactor configurations. The NOBA process consists of reacting vegetable oil/waste oil with methanol in the presence of a homogeneous catalyst (NaOH) in novel type reactors in which transesterification and glycerol separation occur concurrently. The process results in rapid production of biodiesel with high yield. The process has also a method for purification of biodiesel using hot water.
