Description

Description
METHOD FOR SERVICING GARMENTS BUSINESS BY USING A WIRED OR WIRELESS NETWORK
Technical Field
[1] The present invention relates to a technique for servicing garments business using a wired or wireless network, and more specifically, to an apparel business system and method capable of suitably providing a user-based custom-tailored apparel business using a wired or wireless network. Background Art
[2] Recently, with the advancement in communication and wired and wireless network technologies, business models for opening virtual shopping malls (e.g., shopping mall websites for general commerce, auction, reverse auction or the like) on the Internet and selling online a variety of products (e.g., vehicles, various kinds of electronic products, office equipment, sporting goods, digital books, apparel, or the like) are successively developed to provide their own services.
[3] Such websites display products, which are to be sold, in cyberspace. Clients (i.e., buyers or prospective buyers) connect to a desired website through a network such as the Internet and purchase desired products (or articles). Payment for such on-line purchase is made through, for example, electronic money, credit cards, deposit without passbook, or the like. Then, the products that clients have purchased are generally delivered to the relevant clients (the buyers) through a home delivery company or the like.
[4] Furthermore, websites for selling apparel online through a network such as the
Internet are opened to provide their business services. Such websites provide on-line sales services for various kinds of apparel whose design is standardized by size.
[5] On the other hand, in the case of off-line apparel sales systems, many specialty stores in which only the apparel designed by s professional designer is sold are successfully operated unlike the stores that sell a variety of general apparel. It means that more people than expected desire to purchase apparel of a personalized design meeting their tastes rather than generally designed apparel.
[6] Accordingly, if a website allows a client visiting the website to automatically purchase custom-tailored apparel of a desired design fit for the client's body size rather than sells apparel of a generalized (standardized) normal design when selling apparel online through a network such as the Internet, further upgraded apparel sales services can be provided to many people who have diverse and individual taste in apparel. However, there is currently no proposal or suggestion for the aforementioned business techniques.

[19] The above and other objects and advantages of the present invention will become apparent to those skilled in the art by reading the following descriptions of the preferred embodiments of the present invention in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.
[20] Hereinafter, preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described in greater detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.
[21] The spirit of the present invention is that when selling apparel online through a network such as the Internet, an apparel business method of the present invention is configured to create a unique 3D avatar image of a client (i.e., an apparel on-line service user) substantially corresponding to the body size of the client through a 3D body scan method, provide a variety of design option information for designing apparel in a desired form and provide custom-tailored apparel services desired by the respective clients through an apparel image masking method where the 3D avatar image wears custom-tailored virtual apparel contents created using the design option information, unlike the aforementioned conventional method of merely selling online only apparel having a design standardized by size as in an existing website. Through the technical features of the present invention, the object of the present invention can be easily accomplished.
[22] Fig. 1 is a block diagram showing the configuration of an apparel business system suitable for providing apparel business using a network according to the present invention. The system for providing apparel business comprises a wired client group 102 including a plurality of wired clients 102/1 to 102/n, a wireless client group 104 including a plurality of wireless clients 104/1 to 104/n, a mobile communication network 106, a network 108, an apparel business server 110, a member information database (DB) 112, a contents DB 114, and a manufacturer server 116.
[23] Referring to Fig. 1, each of the wired clients 102/1 to 102/n in the wired client group 102 corresponds to a personal computer or a wired communication terminal which can be connected to the apparel business server 110 through the network 108 using a network connection means such as the Internet, and provides three-dimensional (3D) avatar image information (3D pattern data) created through a 3D body scan process and other member information (e.g., name, sex, address, e-mail address, wired/ wireless terminal number, or the like) to register a relevant user in the apparel business server 110 as a service member such that the relevant user can receive apparel business services provided according to the present invention.
[24] To this end, each of the wired clients 102/1 to 102/n is provided with an internal or external scanner or the like for the 3D body scan of a user. The 3D pattern data obtained through such a 3D body scan process are transmitted to the apparel business server 110 through the network 108 together with the other member information provided (inputted or selectively inputted) by the user for the membership registration. Here, the network 108 means a wired communication path selectively including the Intranet or the Internet according to the construction environments.
[25] In addition, it is apparent that users of the respective wired clients 102/1 to 102/n can receive apparel business services provided according to the present invention even though they are not registered in the apparel business server 110 as a service member.
[26] Next, each of the wireless clients 104/1 to 104/n in the wireless client group 104 corresponds to a wireless terminal (e.g., personal communication service (PCS) terminal, cellular phone, personal digital assistant (PDA), international mobile communications (IMT) 2000 terminal, digital mobile broadcasting (DMB) phone, handheld computer or notebook computer having Internet connection means, or the like) which can be connected to the apparel business server 110 through the mobile communication network 106 or the network 108 including a plurality of base stations, base station controllers, mobile communication exchanges, wireless application protocol (WAP) gateways, and the like. Similarly to the above wired clients 102/1 to 102/n, each wireless client provides a function of allowing the users to receive apparel business services according to the present invention. To this end, the wireless client is provided with an internal or external scanner or the like for the 3D body scan of a user.
[27] Furthermore, the apparel business server 110 provides a certain wired or wireless client connected through the network 108 or both the mobile communication network 106 and the network 108 with the apparel business services according to the present invention. To this end, although it has not been specifically illustrated in this figure, the apparel business server 110 comprises an avatar creation module for creating body size information (e.g., height, shoulder width, chest size, arm length, leg length, neck size, and the like) of a relevant user based on the 3D pattern data provided by the wired or wireless client and then creating a 3D avatar image corresponding to the relevant user, a contents creation module for creating custom-tailored virtual apparel contents based on custom-tailor information selected by the user using design option information (e.g., apparel type, apparel material, collar, color, pocket type, pocket position, user's own initial, and the like) provided by the server for the custom-tailored apparel business, and a fitting module for allowing the 3D avatar image to wear the created custom-tailored virtual apparel contents.
[28] That is, the apparel business server 110 provides the user with the 3D avatar image created using the 3D pattern data provided by the user for the custom-tailored apparel business. The apparel business server also creates the custom- tailored virtual apparel contents based on the custom-tailored information selected by the user, allows the 3D avatar to wear the created custom-tailored virtual apparel contents and shows the 3D avatar wearing the apparel contents to the user.
[29] To this end, the member information DB 112 stores a variety of member information (other member information and body size information) including 3D avatar images, and the contents DB 114 stores contents information such as design option information.
[30] In addition, when the user requests the server to manufacture custom-tailored apparel corresponding to the custom-tailored virtual apparel contents which the user has selected and constructed, the apparel business server 110 creates a corresponding request for quotation and sends the request for quotation to the manufacturer server 116 through the network 108. If a quotation is received from the manufacturer server 116 in response to the request for quotation, the apparel business server forwards the quotation to the relevant client (a wired or wireless client). When the relevant client requests the server to manufacture the custom-tailored apparel, the apparel business server provides a function of placing an order for manufacturing the custom-tailored apparel while sending the shipping information (e.g., recipient name, shipping address, wired/wireless terminal number, and the like) together with the manufacturing request.
[31] Next, the manufacturer server 116 is, for example, a personal computer (PC) system, server system or the like possessed by an apparel manufacturer. When a request for quotation containing the design option information (e.g., apparel type, apparel material, collar, color, and the like) is received from the apparel business server 110 through the network 108, the manufacturer server calculates manufacturing costs consumed in manufacturing the custom-tailored apparel in accordance with the design option information, creates a quotation including the calculated custom-tailored apparel manufacturing costs and then transmits the created quotation to the apparel business server 110 through the network 108.
[32] In addition, if the apparel business server 110 receives a request for manufacture of the custom-tailored apparel together with the shipping information, an operator (or a worker) of the manufacturer server 116 manufactures the relevant custom- tailored apparel in accordance with the design option information and delivers the manufactured custom-tailored apparel to the shipping address through a home delivery service or the like.
[33] On the other hand, although it has been described in the present invention that the body size of a relevant user is automatically created based on the 3D pattern data provided by the user through a 3D scanner, the present invention is not limited thereto. It is apparent that option menu information is provided to the user such that the user can select the user's body size through the option menu information.
[34] In addition, although it has been described in the present invention that a manufacturer server for providing the apparel business services with the custom-tailored apparel requested by a user (a custom-tailored apparel buyer) is separately provided, the present invention is not limited thereto. It is apparent that the custom-tailored apparel manufacturing services performed by the manufacturer server can be performed directly by the apparel business server.
[35] Furthermore, it is also apparent that the system can be constructed to comprise a plurality of manufacturer servers rather than having only one manufacturer server, so that the custom-tailored apparel business can be serviced in a competitive pricing method such as competitive bidding. In this case, the apparel business server sends a request for quotation, which is determined in accordance with the custom-tailor information selected by a user (a perspective buyer of custom-tailored apparel), to a plurality of manufacturer servers in multicast mode, receives a quotation from the manufacturer servers and then places an order for manufacturing the custom-tailored apparel to a manufacturer who proposes the lowest or most reasonable price based on the quotation, so that the custom-tailored apparel business can be provided to the users at a lower price.
[36] Hereinafter, a process of providing apparel business services through a network using the apparel business system so configured according to the present invention will be described.
[37]
[38] [First Embodiment]
[39] Fig. 2 is a flowchart illustrating a process of providing apparel business using a network according to an embodiment of the present invention.
[40] Referring to Fig. 2, if a certain client (e.g., a wired or wireless client user) connects to the apparel business server 110 through the network 108 or both the mobile communication network 106 and the network 108, a main menu screen (i.e., a main menu screen including an apparel service request item) for executing the apparel business is provided to the relevant client and displayed on a display panel (step 202).
[41] Next, the relevant user scans his/her body using an internal or external 3D scanner and transmits the created 3D pattern data to the apparel business server 110 (step 204).
[42] In response thereto, the apparel business server 110 creates a 3D avatar image using the 3D pattern data provided by the relevant client and also creates body size information (e.g., height, shoulder width, chest size, arm length, leg length, neck size, and the like) of the relevant client (i.e., user) based on the 3D pattern data (step 206). The created 3D avatar image information and body size information are temporarily stored in the member information DB 112.
[43] At this time, although it has been described in the present embodiment that the body size of a relevant user is automatically created in accordance with the 3D pattern data provided by the user through a 3D scanner, the present invention is not limited thereto. It is apparent that the option menu information is provided to the user such that the user can select the user's body size through the option menu information.
[44] In addition, the apparel business server 110 provides the created 3D avatar image to the relevant client through the network 108 or both the mobile communication network 106 and the network 108. As a result, the 3D avatar image, i.e., the other self of the client, is displayed on a display panel of the relevant client (step 208). Here, the displayed 3D avatar image is an avatar that moves three-dimensionally according to an operation of the user (i.e., the operation through keyboard, mouse or the like).
[45] Next, if the relevant user requests an apparel service by selecting an apparel service item on the main menu (step 210), the apparel business server 110 searches the contents DB 114 to retrieve a design option menu including a plurality of option items used to select, for example, an apparel type, apparel material, collar, color, pocket type, pocket position, user's own initial and the like, and transmits the retrieved design option menu to the relevant client through the network 108 or both the network 108 and the mobile communication network 106. As a result, the design option menu including a plurality of option items is displayed on the relevant client's display panel (step 212). Here, each of the option items contains options (e.g., red, yellow, blue, white, black, beige, or the like in the case of color) or the like for manufacturing the custom-tailored apparel desired by the user.
[46] Therefore, the relevant client user can request the apparel business server to create the custom-tailored apparel contents desired by the user through a simple selecting operation using the respective option items of the design option menu displayed on the display panel.
[47] That is, if it is determined in step 214 that the relevant client user completes selecting all of the design option information, the apparel business server 110 creates custom-tailored virtual apparel contents based on the design option information selected by the user (step 216) and then allows the 3D avatar image to wear the created custom-tailored virtual apparel contents (step 218). As a result, the 3D avatar image wearing the created custom-tailored virtual apparel contents is displayed on the relevant client's display panel, and thus, the user can determine whether the selected custom-tailored apparel is fit for the user using the displayed 3D avatar image.
[48] Next, the relevant client user may request a quotation for the virtual apparel custom-tailored by the user (i.e., a quotation for production costs of real custom- tailored apparel). If the quotation is requested (step 220), the apparel business server 110 creates a request for quotation including the design option information provided by the user and transmits the request for quotation to the manufacturer server 116 through the network 108 (step 222).
[49] In response thereto, the manufacturer server 116 calculates production costs consumed in manufacturing the custom-tailored apparel in accordance with the design option information (e.g., apparel type, apparel material, collar, color, and the like) recorded on the request for quotation, creates a quotation including the calculated custom-tailored apparel production costs and then transmits the quotation through the network 108 to the apparel business server 110 which in turn forwards the received quotation to the relevant client. As a result, the quotation including the production costs for the apparel the user wishes to custom-tailor is displayed on the relevant client's display panel (step 224).
[50] Therefore, after checking the production costs for the custom-tailored apparel that the user wants, the relevant client user can determine whether to place an order for manufacturing the apparel. If the user requests an order for manufacturing the custom- tailored apparel (step 226), the apparel business server 110 requests the relevant client user to provide the shipping information including, for example, a recipient name, shipping address, wired/wireless terminal number and the like. If the relevant client user inputs the shipping information accordingly (step 228), the apparel business server receives the shipping information and provides the shipping information to the manufacturer server 116 through the network 108 together with a manufacturing request message, so that an order for manufacturing the custom-tailored apparel can be placed (step 230). Here, the recipient of the custom- tailored apparel may be a person who requested the manufacture of the corresponding custom-tailored apparel or another person (e.g., parents, brother or sister, friend, lover or the like) whom the user wishes to receive the apparel.
[51] Subsequently, if a message notifying that the manufacturing order has been formally placed is transferred from the manufacturer server 116, the apparel business server 110 creates an order confirmation message corresponding to the ordering message and provides the order confirmation message to the relevant client through the network 108 or both the network 108 and the mobile communication network 106 (step 232). After checking the order confirmation message displayed on the display panel, the relevant client user can recognize that the order for manufacturing the custom-tailored apparel requested by the client user has been normally placed. Here, it is also apparent that the order confirmation message can be provided in the form of an SMS message to the relevant client user's wireless terminal.
[52] As a result, the manufacturer will manufacture the corresponding custom-tailored apparel according to the design option information and forward the manufactured custom-tailored apparel to the shipping address through a home delivery service or the like.
[53] It has been described in the present embodiment that only a process of creating desired custom-tailored apparel into apparel contents and allowing a 3D avatar image to beforehand wear the created contents in order to manufacture the custom-tailored apparel. However, it is apparent that if the user requests the manufacture of the custom-tailored apparel, the order is accepted and then the production costs for the custom-tailored apparel can be in advance paid using a credit card, electronic money, deposit without passbook, fund transfer, or the like. Since the payment techniques are generally known in the art, the detailed descriptions thereof will be omitted herein.
[54] According to the present embodiment, therefore, upgraded apparel sales services can be provided to many people who have diverse and individual tastes in apparel, and thus, the desire of the users for diverse services can be effectively satisfied. Mode for the Invention
[55] [Second embodiment] [56] Fig. 3 is a flowchart illustrating a process of providing apparel business using a network according to another embodiment of the present invention.
[57] Referring to Fig. 3, a method for providing apparel business according to the present embodiment is different from the first embodiment in which the user personally places an order for manufacturing the custom-tailored apparel to a designated manufacturer server, in that it provides apparel business through a bidding method where the apparel business server simultaneously sends a request for quotation from the relevant client user to a plurality of manufacturer servers and allows a user (a perspective buyer of custom-tailored apparel) to personally select a desired manufacturer based on the quotations received from the respective manufacturer servers.
[58] Thus, the processes of steps 302 to 320 in Fig. 3 are substantially the same as those of steps 202 to 220 shown in Fig. 2. Therefore, for the simplicity of descriptions, steps 302 to 320 will not be described herein in order to avoid unnecessary descriptions.
[59] That is, if a relevant client user requests a quotation for the virtual apparel custom- tailored by himself or herself (i.e., a quotation for production costs of real custom- tailored apparel) in a state where a 3D avatar image wearing custom-tailored virtual apparel contents created according to the design option information selected by the user is displayed on the relevant client's display panel, the apparel business server 110 creates a request for quotation including the design option information provided by the user and then simultaneously transmits the request for quotation to a plurality of predetermined manufacturer servers (e.g., manufacturer servers registered as a member company) through the network 108 (step 322).
[60] In response thereto, each of the manufacturer servers calculates production costs required in manufacturing the custom-tailored apparel in accordance with the design option information (e.g., apparel type, apparel material, collar, color and the like) recorded on the request for quotation, creates a quotation including the calculated custom-tailored apparel production costs and then transmits the quotation to the apparel business server 110 through the network 108.
[61] Next, the apparel business server 110 collects the quotations transferred from the respective manufacturer servers within a predetermined period of time (step 324). In step 324, t denotes a period of time elapsed after the request for quotation has been transmitted to the manufacturer servers, and n denotes a predetermined time waiting for accepting the quotations (e.g., 5 seconds, 10, seconds, 15 seconds or the like).
[62] Next, after the predetermined period of time has been elapsed, the apparel business server 110 creates a quotation list containing manufacturer names, custom-tailored apparel production costs, designers and the like using the quotations transferred from the respective manufacturer servers and provides the quotation list to the relevant client (step 326). As a result, the quotation list is displayed on a display panel of the relevant client (step 328).
[63] Therefore, the relevant client user can determine whether to place an order for manufacturing the apparel after checking the production costs of the desired custom- tailored apparel from the quotation list (step 330). If the user selects one of the plurality of quotations and requests the manufacture of the custom-tailored apparel corresponding to the selected quotation (step 332), the apparel business server 110 requests the relevant client user to send the shipping information including a recipient name, shipping address, wired/wireless terminal number and the like, and the relevant client user will input (provide) the shipping information accordingly (step 334).
[64] Subsequently, the apparel business server 110 creates a manufacturing request message including the shipping information and provides the message through the network 108 to the manufacturer server which has sent the quotation selected by the user to thereby place an order for manufacturing the custom-tailored apparel (step 336). Here, the recipient of the custom-tailored apparel may be a person who requested the manufacture of the corresponding custom- tailored apparel or another person (e.g., parents, brother or sister, friend, lover or the like) whom the user wishes to receive the apparel.
[65] Subsequently, if a message notifying that the manufacturing order has been formally placed is transferred from the relevant manufacturer server, the apparel business server 110 creates an order confirmation message corresponding thereto and provides the message to the relevant client through the network 108 or both the network 108 and the mobile communication network 106 (step 338). After checking the order confirmation message displayed on the display panel, the relevant client user can recognize that the order for manufacturing the custom-tailored apparel requested by the client user has been normally placed.
[66] As a result, the manufacturer selected by the user will manufacture the corresponding custom-tailored apparel according to the design option information and forward the manufactured custom-tailored apparel to the shipping address through a home delivery service or the like.
[67] Similarly to the aforementioned first embodiment, the apparel business method according to the second embodiment of the present invention is configured in such a manner that if the user requests the manufacture of the custom-tailored apparel, the order is accepted and then the production costs for the custom-tailored apparel can be paid in advance using a credit card, electronic money, deposit without passbook, fund transfer, or the like.
[68] According to the present embodiment, therefore, upgraded apparel sales services can be provided to many people who have diverse and individual tastes in apparel, and thus, the desire of the users for diverse services can be effectively satisfied, as described in the aforementioned first embodiment of the present invention.
[69] Furthermore, since the present invention provides custom-tailored apparel business through a bidding method where a request for quotation is simultaneously sent to a plurality of manufacturer servers, there is an advantage in that the user can be provided with the custom-tailored apparel business at a lower cost.
[70]
[71 ] [Third Embodiment]
[72] Fig. 4 is a flowchart illustrating a process of registering a member using a 3D avatar according to a further embodiment of the present invention.
[73] Referring to Fig. 4, if a certain client (e.g., a wired or wireless client user) connects to the apparel business server 110 through the network 108 or both the mobile communication network 106 and the network 108, the apparel business server 110 retrieves a main menu screen including a plurality of items and provides the main menu screen to the relevant client through the network 108 or both the network 108 and the mobile communication network 106 (step 402).
[74] Next, if a relevant client user requests the apparel business server 110 to register himself or herself as an apparel business service member using selection items displayed on the main menu screen (step 404), the apparel business server retrieves a membership registration menu screen including a plurality of input or selection items necessary for the membership registration and provides the membership registration menu screen to the relevant client to request the client user to input member information necessary for the membership registration (step 406).
[75] Therefore, the relevant client user scans his or her body using an internal or external
3D scanner and transmits the created 3D pattern data together with other member information (e.g., identification (ID), password, name, sex, address, e-mail address, wired/wireless terminal number, and the like) inputted (or selectively inputted) by the user, to the apparel business server 110 through the network 108 or both the mobile communication network 106 and the network 108 (step 408).
[76] Next, the apparel business server 110 creates a 3D avatar image using the 3D pattern data received from the relevant client and also creates body size information (e.g., height, shoulder width, chest size, arm length, leg length, neck size, and the like) of the relevant client (i.e., the user) based on the 3D pattern data (step 410). The created 3D avatar image information, the body size information and the other member information are stored in the member information DB 112, and thus, the membership registration of the relevant client user has been completed (step 412).
[77] Furthermore, it is also apparent that finger prints, irises, 3D body features or the like other than the ID and password can be utilized as login information for connecting to the apparel business server in the apparel business method according to the present embodiment.
[78] On the other hand, although it has been described in the present embodiment that the body size of a relevant user is automatically created in accordance with the 3D pattern data provided by the user through a 3D scanner, the present invention is not limited thereto. It is also apparent that option menu information is provided to the user such that the user can select his or her body size through the option menu information.
[79] That is, according to the present embodiment, each of the clients can be registered as a member in the apparel business server, together with its won 3D avatar image, through a series of the aforementioned processes.
[80] Next, a process of providing custom-tailored apparel business to a client who has been registered as a service member through a series of the processes described above according to a third embodiment of the present invention will be described.
[81] Fig. 5 is a flowchart illustrating a process of providing apparel business to a client registered as a service member using a network according to a still further embodiment of the present invention.
[82] Referring to Fig. 5, if a certain client (e.g., a client registered as a service member) connects to the server through the network 108 or both the mobile communication network 106 and the network 108 and logs into the server (step 502), the apparel business server 110 searches the member information DB 112, retrieves a 3D avatar image of the relevant client and then provides the retrieved 3D avatar image to the relevant client. As a result, the 3D avatar image, i.e. the other self of the client, is displayed on the relevant client's display panel (step 504). Here, the displayed avatar image is an avatar that moves three-dimensionally according to an operation of the user (i.e., the operation through keyboard, mouse or the like).
[83] Next, if a relevant client user (i.e., a registered service member) selects an apparel service item on the main menu to request a service corresponding to the selected item (step 506), the apparel business server 110 searches the contents DB 114 and retrieves a design option menu including a plurality of option items used to select, for example, an apparel type, apparel material, collar, color, pocket type, pocket position, user's own initial and the like to transmit the design option menu to the relevant client through the network 108 or both the network 108 and the mobile communication network 106. As a result, the design option menu including the plurality of option items is displayed on the relevant client's display panel (step 508). Here, each of the option items contains options (e.g., red, yellow, blue, white, black, beige, or the like in the case of color) or the like for manufacturing the custom-tailored apparel desired by the user.
[84] Therefore, the relevant client user (i.e., the registered service member) can request the apparel business server to create the custom-tailored apparel contents desired by the user through a simple selecting operation using the respective option items of the design option menu displayed on the display panel.
[85] That is, if it is checked in step 510 that the relevant client user (i.e., the registered service member) completes selecting all of the design option information, the apparel business server 110 creates custom- tailored virtual apparel contents based on the design option information selected by the user (step 512) and causes the 3D avatar image to wear the created custom- tailored virtual apparel contents (step 514). As a result, the 3D avatar image wearing the created custom-tailored virtual apparel contents is displayed on the relevant client's display panel, and thus, the user can determine whether the selected custom-tailored apparel is fit for the user based on the displayed 3D avatar image.
[86] Next, the relevant client user can request a quotation for the virtual apparel custom- tailored by the user (i.e., a quotation for production costs of real custom- tailored apparel). If the user requests the apparel business server 110 to send a quotation (step 516), the apparel business server 110 creates a request for quotation including the design option information provided by the user and transmits the created request for quotation to the manufacturer server 116 through the network 108 (step 518).
[87] In response thereto, the manufacturer server 116 calculates the production costs required for manufacturing the custom-tailored apparel in accordance with the design option information (e.g., apparel type, apparel material, collar, color, and the like) recorded on the request for quotation, creates a quotation including the calculated custom-tailored apparel production costs and transmits the quotation to the apparel business server 110 through the network 108. Then, the apparel business server 110 transfers the received quotation to the relevant client. As a result, the quotation including the production costs of the apparel that the user wishes to custom-tailor is displayed on the relevant client's display panel (step 520).
[88] Therefore, the relevant client user can determine whether to place an order for manufacturing the apparel after checking the production costs of the custom-tailored apparel that the user wants. If the user requests the manufacture of the custom- tailored apparel (step 522), the apparel business server 110 requests the shipping information from the relevant client user. That is, the apparel business server inquires whether the recipient of the custom-tailored apparel will be the user himself or herself or the other person. If it is determined that the recipient is any person other than the relevant client user, the apparel business server requests the shipping information including, for example, a recipient name, shipping address, wired/wireless terminal and the like (step 524).
[89] Next, if the shipping information is selected or inputted, the apparel business server
110 creates a manufacturing request message including the shipping information and provides the message to the manufacturer server 116 through the network 108 to thereby place an order for manufacturing the custom-tailored apparel (step 526).
[90] Subsequently, if a message notifying that the manufacturing order has been formally placed is transferred from the manufacturer server 116, the apparel business server 110 creates an order confirmation message corresponding to the ordering message and provides the order confirmation message to the relevant client through the network 108 or both the network 108 and the mobile communication network 106 (step 528). After checking the order confirmation message displayed on the display panel, the relevant client user can recognize that the order for manufacturing the custom-tailored apparel requested by the client user has been normally placed. Here, it is apparent that the order confirmation message can be provided in the form of an SMS message to the relevant client user's wireless terminal.
[91] As a result, the manufacturer will manufacture the corresponding custom- tailored apparel according to the design option information and forward the manufactured custom-tailored apparel to the shipping address through a home delivery service or the like.
[92] Similarly to the aforementioned first and second embodiments of the present invention, the apparel business method according to the third embodiment of the present invention is configured in such a manner that if the user requests the manufacture of the custom-tailored apparel, the order is accepted and then the production costs for the custom-tailored apparel can be paid in advance using a credit card, electronic money, deposit without passbook, fund transfer, or the like.
[93] According to the present embodiment, therefore, upgraded apparel sales services can be provided to many people who have diverse and individual tastes in apparel, and thus, the desire of the users for diverse services can be effectively satisfied, as described in the aforementioned first and second embodiments of the present invention.
[94]
[95] [Fourth Embodiment]
[96] Fig. 6 is a flowchart illustrating a process of providing apparel business to a client registered as a service member using a network according to a still further embodiment of the present invention.
[97] Referring to Fig. 6, an apparel business method of the present embodiment is different from to the third embodiment in which the custom-tailored apparel personally designed by a user is ordered to a designated manufacturer server, in that it provides apparel business through a bidding method where the apparel business server simultaneously sends a request for quotation from the relevant client user to a plurality of manufacturer servers and allows a user (a perspective buyer of custom-tailored apparel) to personally select a desired manufacturer based on the quotations received from the respective manufacturer servers.
[98] Thus, the processes of steps from 602 to 616 in Fig. 6 are substantially the same as those of steps 502 to 516 in Fig. 5. Therefore, for the simplicity of descriptions, steps 602 to 616 will not be described herein in order to avoid unnecessary descriptions.
[99] Further, the process of registering a certain clients as a service member is substantially the same as the process shown in Fig. 4, and thus, the description thereof will be omitted herein for simplicity of the specification.
[100] That is, if a relevant client user requests a quotation for the virtual apparel custom- tailored by himself or herself (i.e., a quotation for production costs of real custom- tailored apparel) in a state where a 3D avatar image wearing custom-tailored virtual apparel contents created according to the design option information selected by the user is displayed on the relevant client's display panel, the apparel business server 110 creates a request for quotation including the design option information provided by the user and then simultaneously transmits the request for quotation to a plurality of predetermined manufacturer servers (e.g., manufacturer servers registered as a member company) through the network 108 (step 618).
[101] In response thereto, each of the manufacturer servers calculates production costs required in manufacturing the custom-tailored apparel in accordance with the design option information (e.g., apparel type, apparel material, collar, color and the like) recorded on the request for quotation, creates a quotation including the calculated custom-tailored apparel production costs and then transmits the quotation to the apparel business server 110 through the network 108.
[102] Next, the apparel business server 110 collects the quotations transferred from the respective manufacturer servers within a predetermined period of time (step 620). In step 620, t denotes a period of time elapsed after the request for quotation has been transmitted to the manufacturer servers, and n denotes a predetermined time waiting for accepting the quotations (e.g., 5 seconds, 10, seconds, 15 seconds or the like).
[103] Next, after the predetermined period of time has been elapsed, the apparel business server 110 creates a quotation list containing manufacturer names, custom-tailored apparel production costs, designers and the like using the quotations transferred from the respective manufacturer servers and provides the quotation list to the relevant client (step 622). As a result, the quotation list is displayed on a display panel of the relevant client (step 624).
[104] Therefore, the relevant client user can decide or determine whether to place an order for manufacturing the apparel after checking the production costs of the desired custom-tailored apparel from the quotation list (step 626). If the user selects one of the plurality of quotations and requests the manufacture of the custom-tailored apparel corresponding to the selected quotation (step 628), the apparel business server 110 requests the relevant client user to send the shipping information. That is, the apparel business server inquires whether the recipient of the custom-tailored apparel will be the user himself or herself or the other person. If it is determined that the recipient is any person other than the relevant client user, the apparel business server requests the shipping information including, for example, a recipient name, shipping address, wired/wireless terminal and the like (step 630).
[105] Next, if the shipping information is selected or inputted, the apparel business server
110 creates a manufacturing request message including the shipping information and provides the manufacturing request message to the manufacturer server that has sent the quotation selected by the user through the network 108 to thereby place an order for manufacturing the custom- tailored apparel (step 632).
[106] Subsequently, if a message notifying that the manufacturing order has been formally placed is transferred from the relevant manufacturer server, the apparel business server 110 creates an order confirmation message corresponding thereto and provides the message to the relevant client through the network 108 or both the network 108 and the mobile communication network 106 (step 634). After checking the order confirmation message displayed on the display panel, the relevant client user can recognize that the order for manufacturing the custom-tailored apparel requested by the client user has been normally placed.
[107] As a result, the relevant manufacturer selected by the user will manufacture the corresponding custom-tailored apparel according to the design option information and forward the manufactured custom-tailored apparel to the shipping address through a home delivery service or the like.
[108] Similarly to the aforementioned third embodiment, the apparel business method according to the present embodiment of the present invention is configured in such a manner that if the user requests the manufacture of the custom-tailored apparel, the order is accepted and then the production costs for the custom-tailored apparel can be paid in advance using a credit card, electronic money, deposit without passbook, fund transfer, or the like.
[109] According to the present embodiment, therefore, upgraded apparel sales services can be provided to many people who have diverse and individual tastes in apparel, and thus, the desire of the users for diverse services can be effectively satisfied, as described in the aforementioned first to third embodiments of the present invention.
[110] Furthermore, since the present invention provides custom- tailored apparel business through a bidding method where a request for quotation is simultaneously sent to the plurality of manufacturer servers, there is an advantage in that the user can be provided with the custom-tailored apparel business at a lower cost. Industrial Applicability
[111] The method for providing apparel business using a wired/wireless network according to the present invention interconnects mobile communication networks and Internet networks to facilitate the on-line apparel business and the value added service business of mobile communication companies, so that the advancement in the electronic commerce field can be accelerated.
