Abstract

The invention relates to a universal gearbox. The inventive gearbox comprises two flywheels (1, 2) which rotate in parallel planes in opposing directions about a common axis Y and which are permanently engaged with a plurality of ring gears (3, 4) which rotate about a perpendicular axis X on both sides of axis Y. The aforementioned ring gears (3, 4) rotate freely about axis X and can be selectively coupled to same by means of a telescopic shaft (5) which is provided with coupling means (6) and actuation means (7). This structure can be used to obtain a compact gearbox with multiple positive and negative gear ratios between axes X-Y.
