Abstract

The invention relates to a device and method for producing a false twist on a running thread. For this purpose, the inventive device comprises several friction discs which are successively arranged along the thread path and whose centres of rotation form a triangle in such a way that said friction discs overlap each other and form a middle thread guide. The friction discs are supported by three axes, which form an angle with respect to the thread-carrying axle of the thread guide. In order to produce a careful false twist with a lowest possible energy consumption, the friction discs, according to said invention, are freely rotatable.
