Le système et la méthode renforcent et améliorent la technologie reconnue utilisée pour localiser et identifier l'adresse recherchée dans la ville et la méthode d'interrogation aux fins du guidage. L'invention relève du domaine de l'identification d'adresses urbaines et du guidage. Dès lors que le panneau indicateur portant le numéro correct se trouve au bon endroit, par exemple, des poteaux de réverbère placés à des intervalles réguliers sur les trottoirs, il est très facile de localiser les emplacements des deux côtés de la rue. Le rapport du chemin à suivre se construit entre les numéros des panneaux adjacents, après quoi s'effectuent la base de données de guidage et le système d'interrogation sur le trajet entre les deux points, où le trajet est indiqué par la séquence numérique du panneau indicateur.
