背景技術
[0002] 光ディスク装置に用いられる光ピックアップ装置は、概ね、一般に光ディスクの半径 方向に沿って移動することができる光学ベースと、光学ベース上に搭載されている対 物レンズ駆動装置と、レーザ光を出射するレーザ光源と、光ディスクで反射したレー ザ光を検出する光検出器と、レーザ光源から出射されたレーザ光を光ディスクに導く とともに、光ディスクで反射したレーザ光を光検出器に導く光学系と、を備えている。
[0003] 上記対物レンズ駆動装置は、対物レンズと、この対物レンズを保持するレンズホル ダと、レンズホルダを変位させるためにレンズホルダに設けられて!/、る複数のァクチュ エータコイルと、一端にぉ 、てレンズホルダを支持する複数のサスペンションワイヤと 、これらの複数のサスペンションワイヤの他端を支持するダンバベースとを有する。
[0004] ブルーレイディスク(Blu-ray Disc)、 HDDVD等の大容量光ディスク対応の光ディ スク装置に用いられる光ピックアップ装置の対物レンズ駆動装置においては、対物レ ンズのフォーカス制御およびトラッキング制御に加えて、対物レンズのチルティング制 御が必要となる。このため、対物レンズを支持しているレンズホルダ両側部には 3本 ずつ合計 6本のサスペンションワイヤ(それぞれ 2本 1組のフォーカスコイル用ワイヤ、 トラッキングコイル用ワイヤ、チルティングコイル用ワイヤ)が配設されている。
[0005] このような光ピックアップ装置の対物レンズ駆動装置として、図 5に示すような対物レ ンズ駆動装置 100が知られている(特開 2000— 149292号公報参照)。
[0006] この対物レンズ駆動装置 100は、符号 102で示す対物レンズを備え、対物レンズ 1 02は、レンズホルダ 101に保持されている。レンズホルダ 101の側部外周には、チル ティング用のチルティングコイル 109が卷回されている。
[0007] このチルティングコイル 109と対向する位置にチルティング用マグネット 106c、 106 dが配置されている。なお、図 5には示されていないが、レンズホルダ 101には、フォ 一力シングコイルおよびトラッキングコイルも取り付けられており、フォーカシングコィ ルおよびトラッキングコイルと対向する位置にフォーカシングおよびトラッキング用マ グネットが配置されている。
[0008] レンズホルダ 101の両側部の上部 107a、 107bには、それぞれサスペンションワイ ャ 108aおよび 108b、サスペンションワイヤ 108cおよび 108dが水平方向に並列に 配置されている。

[0010] この対物レンズ駆動装置 100の計 6本のサスペンションワイヤ 108a〜108fは、そ れぞれフォーカシングコイル(図示せず)、トラッキングコイル(図示せず)、チルティン グコイル 109への電流を供給する接続用サスペンションワイヤであると同時に、レンズ ホルダ 101を変位可能に支持する役割を有する。
[0011] この対物レンズ駆動装置 100において、レンズホルダ 101の両側部の上部 107a、 107bに係止されている 4本のサスペンションワイヤの内、サスペンションワイヤ 108a および 108cはフォーカシングコイルに、サスペンションワイヤ 108bおよび 108dはト ラッキングコイルに電気的に接続されている。また、サスペンションワイヤ 108eおよび 108fはチルティングコイル 109に電気的に接続されている。
[0012] 上記のような構成において、フォーカシングコイル、トラッキングコイルおよびチルテ イングコイル 109への電流を制御することにより、レンズホルダ 101 (および対物レン ズ 102)を移動(フォーカシング方向およびトラッキング方向の移動)またはチルティン グさせることができる。これにより、レーザ光を光ディスクの記録面のトラック上に正しく 集光させることができる。
[0013] ところで、ブルーレイディスク等の光ディスクを記録再生する光ディスク装置では、 従来の CDや CD— R等の光ディスクを再生または記録再生する光ディスク装置に比 ベて、ディスク記録面と対物レンズとの間の距離が短い。また、ブルーレイディスク等 の光ディスクでは、 CD等の光ディスクに比べて、ディスクの内周側までリードインエリ ァが存在する。このため、ブルーレイディスク等に対応している光ディスク装置におい ては、光ピックアップ装置が従来よりもディスク記録面に接近できるようにするとともに 、より光ディスクの内周側に移動できるようにしなければならない。
[0014] しかし、光ディスクの最内周側へさらに光ピックアップ装置を移動可能にするために は、 CD等の光ピックアップ装置と比べて光ピックアップ装置を小型化しなければなら ないという問題点があった。これは、従来の大きさの光ピックアップ装置を用いると、 光ピックアップ装置の一部、例えば、レンズホルダが光ディスクの最内周側において ターンテーブル(図示せず)の外周と接触してしま 、、最内周側のディスク情報の読 み出しやそのエリアへの書き込みが不可能になる力もである。
[0015] このような問題点を従来の対物レンズ駆動装置 100において説明する。この対物レ ンズ駆動装置 100では、前述したようにレンズホルダ 101の上部 107aにサスペンショ ンワイヤ 108a、 108bが水平方向に並列に配置されて!、る。
[0016] このため、サスペンションワイヤ 108a、 108bを固定している上部 107aがターンテ 一ブル方向へ大幅に突出している。光ディスクの最内周側へ光ピックアップ装置が 移動した際に、この上部 107aの突出は、レンズホルダ 101とターンテーブルとの間 に必要なクリアランスを狭めていた。このため、ブルーレイディスク等に適用される光 ディスク装置に用いると、対物レンズ駆動装置 100のレンズホルダ 101がターンテー ブルに接触してしまう。この接触を回避するためには、さらに対物レンズ駆動装置 10 0のレンズホルダ 101を小型化しなければならないが、このような小型化は、製造を困 難にすると共に、製造コストの上昇を招来するという問題点があった。
[0017] また、ターンテーブル方向側に位置するサスペンションワイヤ 108b自体も、光ディ スクの最内周側へ光ピックアップ装置が移動した際に、サスペンションワイヤ 108bと ターンテーブルとのクリアランスを狭める原因となっていた。
発明の開示
[0018] 本発明は、上記問題点に鑑みなされたもので、光ピックアップ装置が光ディスクの 最内周側に移動した際に、光ピックアップ装置とターンテーブルとのクリアランスを十 分に確保することができる光ピックアップ装置を提供すること目的とする。
[0019] 上記目的を達成するために、本発明の光ピックアップ装置は、光ディスクの半径方 向に沿って移動することができる光学ベースと、前記光学ベース上に搭載されている 対物レンズ駆動装置と、前記光学ベースに設けられ、レーザ光を出射するレーザ光 源と前記光ディスクで反射したレーザ光を検出する光検出器と、前記レーザ光源から 出射されたレーザ光を前記光ディスクに導くとともに、前記光ディスクで反射したレー ザ光を前記光検出器に導く光学系とを備えている光ピックアップ装置において、前記 対物レンズ駆動装置は、前記レーザ光源から出射されたレーザ光を光ディスクに集 光させる対物レンズと、前記対物レンズを保持するレンズホルダと、前記レンズホルダ をその両側部において支持するそれぞれ 2本 1組の第 1サスペンションワイヤと第 2サ スペンションワイヤと第 3サスペンションワイヤと、前記第 1、第 2および第 3サスペンシ ヨンワイヤを支持するダンバベースとを備え、前記 2本の第 1サスペンションワイヤのそ れぞれの一端側は前記レンズホルダの両側部上部をそれぞれ支持し、それらの他端 側は前記ダンバベースに支持され、前記それぞれ 2本の第 2および第 3サスペンショ ンワイヤのそれぞれの一端側は前記レンズホルダの両側部下部を支持し、それらの 他端側は前記ダンバベースに支持され、前記レンズホルダの周囲であって、前記第 1サスペンションワイヤと、前記第 2および第 3サスペンションワイヤとの間にァクチユエ ータ用コイルを卷回したことを特徴とする。
[0020] 上記構成を有する本発明によれば、レンズホルダの両側部上部を 2本 1組の第 1サ スペンションワイヤにより支持するため、当該各側部上部には 1本のサスペンションヮ ィャのみが存在するだけである。このため、レンズホルダの側部上部におけるターン テーブル方向への突出量を最小限に抑えることができ、光ピックアップ装置が光ディ スクの最内周側に移動した際の光ピックアップ装置とターンテーブルとの十分なタリ ァランスを確保することができる。したがって、レンズホルダを小型化する必要がなぐ 光ピックアップ装置の製造コストの低減を実現することができる。
[0021] また、本発明の光ピックアップ装置では、前記ァクチユエータ用コイルは、フォー力 シングコイル、チルティングコイルおよびトラッキングコイルのいずれかであり、前記チ ルティングコイル、前記フォーカシングコイルおよび前記トラッキングコイルの各コイル に、前記第 1、第 2および第 3サスペンションワイヤの各ワイヤ力 電流が供給されるこ とが好ましい。
[0022] さらに、本発明の光ピックアップ装置では、前記第 1サスペンションワイヤの前記一 端側をそれぞれ支持するために前記レンズホルダの両側部上部に第 1支持部を設 け、前記第 2および第 3サスペンションワイヤの前記一端側を支持するために前記レ ンズホルダの両側部下部に第 2支持部を設け、前記第 1支持部と前記第 2支持部と は互いに間隔をあけてそれぞれ独立して配設され、前記第 1支持部と前記第 2支持 部との間に前記フォーカシングコイルを卷回したことが好ましい。
[0023] このような構成によれば、レンズホルダの側部において、第 1支持部と第 2支持部と が互いに間隔をあけてそれぞれ独立して配設したため、第 1支持部と第 2支持部との 間にフォーカシングコイルを卷回するスペースを確保することができる。したがって、 フォーカシングコイルの卷回作業を容易にすることができ、光ピックアップ装置の製造 コストの低廉ィ匕を実現することができる。
[0024] さらに、本発明の光ピックアップ装置では、前記第 1サスペンションワイヤの各ワイヤ の断面積は、前記第 2および第 3サスペンションワイヤの各ワイヤの断面積より大きい ことが好ましい。
[0025] このような構成によれば、第 1サスペンションワイヤの各ワイヤの断面積が第 2および 第 3サスペンションワイヤの各ワイヤの断面積より大きくなる。そのため、請求項 5に記 載したように、第 1サスペンションワイヤの断面 2次モーメントの合計力 第 2および第 3サスペンションワイヤの断面 2次モーメントの合計と同じになるように、第 1、第 2およ び第 3サスペンションワイヤの各ワイヤの断面積が設定できる。それにより、第 1サス ペンションワイヤの断面 2次モーメントの合計と、第 2および第 3サスペンションワイヤ の断面 2次モーメントの合計とのバランスを採ることができる。これにより、レンズホル ダの上部のモーメントとレンズホルダの下部のモーメントとの整合を図ることにより、レ ンズホルダを機械的に安定させ、正確且つ精密な駆動を実現することができる。

発明を実施するための最良の形態

[0040] チルティングコイルは、図 3に示すように、 4個のチルティングコイル 251〜254力ら 構成されている。これらチルティングコイル 251〜254は、フォーカシングコイル 23と 後述するヨーク片 431〜434との間であって、レンズホルダ本体 21の底面に形成さ れている 2個の矩形状貫通穴 211、 212の内周面にそれぞれ 2個づっ固定されてい る。また、チルティングコイル 251〜254のリード線端は、後述する接続突起 63に卷 回され、チルティングワイヤ 51、 52と電気的に接続されている。チルティングコイル 2 51〜254は、マグネット 44とヨーク片 431、 432との間およびマグネット 45とヨーク片 433、 434との間に形成されている磁界の中に配置されている。したがって、チルティ ングコイル 251〜254への電流供給により、レンズホルダ 2全体がタンジュンシャル方 向(図 2中の符号 Tg方向)に平行な軸周りに回動することができる。

[0051] フォーカシングワイヤ 53、 54のそれぞれの一端側は、レンズホルダ 2の左右第 2支 持部 62、 62 (側部下部)をそれぞれ支持しており、それらの他端側がダンバベース 3 のワイヤ支持部 32の下部貫通孔 324を貫通している。フォーカシングワイヤ 53、 54 は、第 2支持部 62と前述の充填用凹部 321との間に張り渡してある部分が弾性変形 することにより、レンズホルダ 2全体の移動またはチルティングを可能にする。
[0052] トラッキングワイヤ 55、 56のそれぞれの一端側は、レンズホルダ 2の左右第 2支持 部 62を支持しており、その各他端側がダンバベース 3のワイヤ支持部 32の下部貫通 孔 325を揷通している。また、トラッキングワイヤ 55、 56は、それぞれフォーカシング ワイヤ 53、 54とトラッキング方向(Tr方向)において、並列に配置されている(図 3参 照)。トラッキングワイヤ 55、 56は、第 2支持部 62と前述の充填用凹部 321との間に 張り渡してある部分が弾性変形することにより、レンズホルダ 2全体の移動またはチル ティングを可會 にする。
[0053] 上記チルティングワイヤ 51、 52、フォーカシングワイヤ 53、 54およびトラッキングヮ ィャ 55、 56の他端は、光学ベース 11に設けられた基板(図示せず)に電気的に接続 されている。レンズホルダ 2の両側部には、上部 (側部上部)に前述した第 1支持部 6 1、 61が、下部 (側部下部)に前述した第 2支持部 62、 62がー体に設けられている。
[0054] 第 1支持部 61と第 2支持部 62とは、互いに上下に間隔をあけて独立して配設され ている。これにより、レンズホルダ 2の側部において、第 1支持部 61と第 2支持部 62と の間にフォーカシングコイル 23を卷回することができるようになった。
[0055] また、レンズホルダ 2の両側部には、第 1支持部 61、 61、第 2支持部 62、 62からダ ンパベース 3とは反対側に間隔をおいた位置に前述した接続突起 63〜65がそれぞ れ一体に設けられている。
[0056] 第 1支持部 61は、レンズホルダ本体 21のトラッキング方向(Tr方向)の両側部上部 力も外側へ突出するように、レンズホルダ本体 21と一体に形成されている。各第 1支 持部 61は、それぞれ前述のチルティングワイヤ 51、 52の一端側を貫通させるための 貫通孔 611を有する。各貫通孔 611にダンピング材を充填することによって、チルテ イングワイヤ 51、 52の一端側が保持されている。
[0057] また、第 2支持部 62は、レンズホルダ本体 21のトラッキング方向(Tr方向)の両側部 下部から外側へ突出するように、レンズホルダ本体 21と一体に形成されている。各第 2支持部 62は、前述したフォーカシングワイヤ 53 (54)およびトラッキングワイヤ 55 (5 6)の一端側をそれぞれ貫通させるための貫通孔 621、 622を有する。すなわち、貫 通孔 621および貫通孔 622は、トラッキング方向(Tr方向)に並列に配置されている。 これらの貫通孔 621、 622にダンピング材を充填することによって、フォーカシングヮ ィャ 53、 54およびトラッキングワイヤ 55、 56の一端側が保持されている。
[0058] 接続突起 63には、前述したようにチルティングコイル 251〜254のリード線端が卷 回されている。第 1支持部 61を貫通し接続突起 63に伸びているチルティングワイヤ 5 1、 52の一端が、この接続突起 63において、チルティングコイル 251〜254のリード 線端に電気的に接続されている。したがって、チルティングワイヤ 51、 52によりチル ティングコイル 251〜254への電流供給が行われる。
[0059] 接続突起 64には、前述したようにフォーカシングコイル 23のリード線端が卷回され ている。第 2支持部 62を貫通し接続突起 64に伸びているフォーカシングワイヤ 53、 5 4の一端が、この接続突起 64において、フォーカシングコイル 23のリード線端に電気 的に接続されている。したがって、フォーカシングワイヤ 53、 54によりフォーカシング コイル 23への電流供給が行われる。
[0060] 接続突起 65には、前述したようにトラッキングコイル 241〜244のリード線端が卷回 されている。第 2支持部 62を貫通し接続突起 65に伸びているトラッキングワイヤ 55、 56の一端が、この接続突起 65において、トラッキングコイル 241〜244のリード線端 に電気的に接続されている。したがって、トラッキングワイヤ 55、 56によりトラッキング コイル 241〜 244への電流供給が行われる。
[0061] 次に、本実施形態の作用効果を説明する。
[0062] 最初に、レンズホルダ 2の動作を説明する。このレンズホルダ 2は、上述したように、 マグネット 44、 45およびヨーク片 431〜434が設けられているヨーク 4に対して移動ま たはチルティングするようにダンバベース 3にフォーカシングワイヤ 53、 54、トラツキン グワイヤ 55、 56およびチルティングワイヤ 51、 52を介して支持されている。このため 、フォーカシングワイヤ 53、 54、トラッキングワイヤ 55、 56およびチルティングワイヤ 5 1、 52による電流供給を制御すると、フォーカシングコイル 23、トラッキングコイル 241 〜244およびチルティングコイル 251〜254が上述した磁界の中で引き寄せられたり 反発したりするため、これらのフォーカシングコイル 23、トラッキングコイル 241〜244 、チルティングコイル 251〜254が設けられているレンズホルダ 2がヨーク 4に対して 移動またはチルティングすることになる。
[0063] 本実施形態によれば、チルティングワイヤ 51、 52力 レンズホルダ本体 21の両側 部上部に設けられている第 1支持部 61、 61にそれぞれ一本づっ支持されている。し たがって、第 1支持部 61のレンズホルダ本体 21からターンテーブル(図示せず)方向 、すなわちトラッキング方向(Tr方向)への突出量を最小限に抑えることができる。こ のため、光ピックアップ装置 1が光ディスク(図示せず)の最内周側に移動した際に、 光ピックアップ装置 1とターンテーブル(図示せず)とのクリアランスを十分に確保する ことができる。故に、このクリアランスを確保するためにレンズホルダ本体 21を小型化 する必要がないため、光ピックアップ装置 1の製造コストの上昇を回避することができ る。
[0064] また、レンズホルダ本体 21の側部において、第 1支持部 61と第 2支持部 62とを互 いに上下に間隔をあけてそれぞれ独立して配設したため、第 1支持部 61と第 2支持 部 61との間にフォーカシングコイル 23を卷回することができる。したがって、フォー力 シングコイル 23の卷回作業を容易にすることができ、当該作業時間の短縮を通じて 製造コストの低減ィ匕を実現することができる。
[0065] さらに、チルティングワイヤ 51、 52の各ワイヤの断面積がフォーカシングワイヤ 53、 54およびトラッキングワイヤ 55、 56の各ワイヤの断面積より大きい。そのため、チルテ イングワイヤ 51、 52の断面 2次モーメントの合計が、フォーカシングワイヤ 53、 54およ びトラッキングワイヤ 55、 56の断面 2次モーメントの合計と同じになるように、チルティ ングワイヤ 51、 52、フォーカシングワイヤ 53、 54およびトラッキングワイヤ 55、 56の 各ワイヤの断面積を設定できる。それにより、チルティングワイヤ 51、 52の断面 2次モ 一メントの合計と、フォーカシングワイヤ 53、 54およびトラッキングワイヤ 55、 56の断 面 2次モーメントの合計とのバランスを採ることができる。したがって、レンズホルダ 2の 上部のモーメントとレンズホルダ 2の下部のモーメントとの整合を図ることにより、レン ズホルダ 2を機械的に安定させ、正確且つ精密な駆動を実現することができる。
[0066] なお、上記実施形態における各コイルと各サスペンションワイヤと組み合わせは一 例であり、その組み合わせは適宜変更することが可能である。例えば、第 1サスペン シヨンワイヤをフォーカシングコイルと電気的に接続されているフォーカシングワイヤと し、第 2サスペンションワイヤをトラッキングコイルと電気的に接続されているトラツキン グワイヤとし、第 3サスペンションワイヤをチルティングコイルと電気的に接続されて ヽ るチルティングワイヤとしてもよい。この場合、フォーカシングワイヤの各ワイヤの断面 前述したように、フォーカシングワイヤの断面 2次モーメントの合計力 トラッキングワイ ャおよびチルティングワイヤワイヤの断面 2次モーメントの合計と同じになるようにする ことが望ましい。
産業上の利用可能性
[0067] 本発明によれば、レンズホルダの両側部上部を 2本 1組の第 1サスペンションワイヤ により支持するため、当該各側部上部には 1本のサスペンションワイヤのみが存在す るだけである。このため、レンズホルダの側部上部におけるターンテーブル方向への 突出量を最小限に抑えることができ、光ピックアップ装置が光ディスクの最内周側に 移動した際の光ピックアップ装置とターンテーブルとの十分なクリアランスを確保する ことができる。したがって、レンズホルダを小型化する必要がなぐ光ピックアップ装置 の製造コストの低減を実現することができる。
なお、本件出願は、 2005年 8月 6曰に出願された曰本国特許願 2005— 228870 に基づくものであり、当該出願の番号を明記することにより、その開示内容全体が本 件出願に組み込まれたものとする。

Claims

請求の範囲
[1] 光ディスクの半径方向に沿って移動することができる光学ベースと、
前記光学ベース上に搭載されている対物レンズ駆動装置と、
前記光学ベースに設けられ、レーザ光を出射するレーザ光源と前記光ディスクで反 射したレーザ光を検出する光検出器と、
前記レーザ光源から出射されたレーザ光を前記光ディスクに導くとともに、前記光 ディスクで反射したレーザ光を前記光検出器に導く光学系とを備えている光ピックァ ップ装置において、
前記対物レンズ駆動装置は、前記レーザ光源から出射されたレーザ光を光ディスク に集光させる対物レンズと、前記対物レンズを保持するレンズホルダと、前記レンズホ ルダをその両側部において支持するそれぞれ 2本 1組の第 1サスペンションワイヤと 第 2サスペンションワイヤと第 3サスペンションワイヤと、前記第 1、第 2および第 3サス ペンションワイヤを支持するダンバベースとを備え、前記 2本の第 1サスペンションワイ ャのそれぞれの一端側は前記レンズホルダの両側部上部をそれぞれ支持し、それら の他端側は前記ダンバベースに支持され、前記それぞれ 2本の第 2および第 3サス ペンションワイヤのそれぞれの一端側は前記レンズホルダの両側部下部を支持し、 それらの他端側は前記ダンバベースに支持され、前記レンズホルダの周囲であって 、前記第 1サスペンションワイヤと、前記第 2および第 3サスペンションワイヤとの間に ァクチユエータ用コイルを卷回したことを特徴とする光ピックアップ装置。
[2] 前記ァクチユエータ用コイルは、フォーカシングコイル、チルティングコイルおよびト ラッキングコイルの ヽずれかであり、
前記チルティングコイル、前記フォーカシングコイルおよび前記トラッキングコイルの 各コイルに、前記第 1、第 2および第 3サスペンションワイヤの各ワイヤ力 電流が供 給される請求項 1記載の光ピックアップ装置。
[3] 前記第 1サスペンションワイヤの前記一端側をそれぞれ支持するために前記レンズ ホルダの両側部上部に第 1支持部を設け、
前記第 2および第 3サスペンションワイヤの前記一端側を支持するために前記レン ズホルダの両側部下部に第 2支持部を設け、 前記第 1支持部と前記第 2支持部とは互いに間隔をあけてそれぞれ独立して配設 され、
前記第 1支持部と前記第 2支持部との間に前記フォーカシングコイルを卷回した請 求項 2記載の光ピックアップ装置。
[4] 前記第 1サスペンションワイヤの各ワイヤの断面積は、前記第 2および第 3サスペン シヨンワイヤの各ワイヤの断面積より大きい請求項 1記載の光ピックアップ装置。
[5] 前記第 1サスペンションワイヤの断面 2次モーメントの合計が、前記第 2および第 3 サスペンションワイヤの断面 2次モーメントの合計と同じになるように、前記第 1、第 2 および第 3サスペンションワイヤの各ワイヤの断面積が設定されている請求項 1記載 の光ピックアップ装置。
[6] 前記第 1支持部および前記第 2支持部は、前記レンズホルダに一体に形成されて V、る請求項 3記載の光ピックアップ装置。
