Abstract
The present invention relates to a glove or bootee used at hands and feet with the purpose of preventing adult or child patients, who are unconscious, half conscious or conscious, from hurting themselves. The inventive glove (1) or bootee essentially comprises two identical parts (2) stitched upon being folded onto each other, having a suitable geometry to be used at hands and feet of the patients and wherein it comprises fiber in between two fabrics of each of the said parts, in order to increase softness.
Description
PROTECTIVE GLOVE
Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to protective gloves used at hands and feet with the purpose of preventing adult or child patients, who are unconscious, half conscious or conscious, from hurting themselves.
Background of the Invention
Medication and serum are administered to patients, who are taken to intensive care after an operation and are unconscious or half conscious, via intravenous injection and catheters are inserted to them. However, patients who are not conscious, involuntarily remove injectors and catheters which are exposed and do not have any protection. In order to prevent this, doctors and nurses had to tie the hands and/or feet of the patients to the rails of the patients' beds.
However, tying the hands and feet of the patients was causing constriction and clogging of the veins, thereby blood circulation was deteriorated or administering serum to the patient was getting to be difficult. Infections could be occurring in clogged veins; whereby they caused inflammation of vein walls like phlebitis, lymphangitis and reddening and swelling of peripheral tissues. Furthermore, tying the patient to the bed from his/her hands and feet displayed a more tragic view of the patient, causing a break down of the morale of the patient's relatives.
Latex gloves have been developed in the state of the art, for the purpose of protection of health care personnel from bacteria and viral infections. One of these is described in the USA patent application US5317759. The glove cited in the said application comprises two layers one on the inside and one on the outside.
In the USA application US4901372, a glove, which is also prepared for surgeons and health care personnel, is defined, comprising a tri-laminar construction with continuous inner and outer barrier layers and a central foam layer.
However the gloves defined in the above mentioned applications are prepared only for health care personnel and are not considered for use of patients.
Summary of the Invention
The objective of the present invention is to realize a protective glove, to be used at hands and feet, which will prevent adult or child patients who are unconscious, half conscious or conscious, from hurting themselves, and protect the exposed intravenous access through which serum and/or medication is administered to the patient.
Another objective of this invention is to realize a protective glove which will prevent the break down of the morale of the patient and his/her relatives.
The inventive glove, essentially comprises two identical parts, stitched upon being folded onto each other, having a suitable geometry to be used at hands and feet with the purpose of preventing patients from hurting themselves, and is characterized in that it comprises fiber in between two fabrics of each of the said parts, in order to increase softness.
Detailed Description of the Invention
The protective glove realized to fulfill the objectives of the present invention is illustrated in the accompanying figures in which,
Figure 1 is the schematic view of one embodiment of the inventive glove.
Figure 2 is the schematic view of another embodiment of the inventive glove.
Figure 3 is the section view of one embodiment of the inventive glove.
The parts in these figures are numbered individually where the numbers refer to the following:
1. Protective glove
2. Part 3. Fabric
4. Fiber
5. Sponge
6. Lacing
The inventive protective glove (1) is produced from a soft fabric, preferably cotton or synthetic, with a geometry and size suitable to be used at the hands and feet of adult and child patients. The inventive glove (1) is obtained by stitching two parts (2) with the same geometry onto each other. Fiber is placed in between the fabric (3) forming each part (2) with the purpose of making the glove (1) softer and providing a higher protection for the patient's body; the fabric is sewn quilted in order to prevent the said fiber (4) from sliding within the part (2).
In one of the preferred embodiments of the invention, with the purpose of improving the protection feature, a soft material preferably a sponge (5) is inserted in between the fabrics (3) forming the part (2), which faces the palm of the hand, of the glove (1) to be used for the hands (Figure 3).
A lacing (6) is provided to prevent the inventive protective glove (1) worn on the hands and feet, from coming out.
Industrial Applicability of the Invention
By means of the inventive glove (1), unconscious, half conscious or conscious adult and child patients are prevented from hurting themselves and their exposed intravenous accesses into which serum and/or medication is administered are protected without having to tie their hands and feet. Thereby, infections which may occur at the intravenous accesses are avoided, and regular administration of the medication and serum to the patient and more rapid recovery of the patient are ensured.
Within the scope of this principle concept, development of various embodiments of the inventive glove (1) is possible, and the invention cannot be limited with the examples described herein and is essentially as provided in the claims.
Claims
1. A protective glove (1) comprising two identical parts (2) which have a suitable geometry to be used at hands and feet and are stitched upon being folded onto each other with the purpose of preventing adult or child patients, who are unconscious, half conscious or conscious, from hurting themselves; and characterized in that it comprises fiber (4) in between two fabrics of each of the said parts (2) in order to increase softness.
2. A protective glove (1) according to Claim 1, characterized in that it comprises parts (2) formed by fabric (3) sewn quilted in order to prevent the inserted fiber (4) from sliding.
3. A protective glove (1) according to Claim 1 or 2, characterized in that it comprises a soft material, preferably a sponge (5), placed in between the fabrics
(3) forming the part (2), which faces the palm of the hand, of the glove to be used at the hands, with the purpose of enhancing the protection.
4. A protective glove (1) according to any of the above given claims, characterized in that it comprises a lacing (6) to prevent the glove from coming out of the hands or feet.
