Abstract

The tie (3) for a stationary device such as a notebook or a diary provided with the closing member (5A, 5B) is of decreasing width to pass through a slot (7) and thus form a turn (3X) to encircle and constrain a pencil (P) , ball-point pen or the like and the extension (3Y) carrying the closing member (5) .

Description

A CLOSING TIE FOR COVERS OF DIARIES, NOTEBOOKS AND THE LIKE EQUIPPED WITH WRITING INSTRUMENT"
DESCRIPTION
Covers are known for diaries, notebooks and the like, which have a tie to allow the two flaps of the cover to be closed. Frequently a constraining member is associated with the cover to hold by friction a writing instrument, such as a pencil, a ball-point pen or the like.
The present invention relates to a cover of the aforesaid type, which is produced to offer improved functionality combined with a very low production cost, which allows an appreciable utility of the product thus produced to be attained.
In substance, the subject of the invention is a closing tie of the aforesaid type with a closing member mainly of the pressure and snap fastening type operating between the tie and the flap of the cover opposed to one from which it originates, said tie being developed to form a turn to encircle and constrain the writing instrument and an extension for the closing member.
In a particularly advantageous solution, the tie is developed with decreasing width and with a substantially transverse slot, which is suitable for the narrowest part, forming the extension with the closing member, to pass through.
Two opposed notches along the edge of the tie, at a distance from each other corresponding to the slot, can be provided to stabilize the position of the turn formed by the tie.
The drawing shows a possible embodiment of the invention: Figures 1 , 2 and 3 show an external view of a cover, before closing, in an intermediate step and in the closed position; and
Figures 4 and 5 are local sections according to IV-IV of Figure 2 and V-V of Figure 3.
According to the illustration, 1A and 1B indicate the two parts of a cover 1 , connected to each other by the spine 1C. To close the cover, a tie is normally provided applied to the back part 1A and which can be engaged with the front part 1 B by a closing member with snap, or pressure, fastening or the like.
According to the invention and the solution in the drawing, a tie 3 originates from the back part 1A and develops and extends with decreasing width to the end 3A, where one 5A of the components of the closing member is applied, the other 5B of which being applied to the part 1 B of the cover. A transverse slot 7 is produced in the tie 3, with a length corresponding approximately to the distance D between two opposed notches 9 formed along the edges of the tie 3 in a position closer to the end 3A of the tie.
The position of the slot 7 and of the notches 9 are such that the end 3A of the tie 3 can be inserted into the slot 7 to form a turn 3X inside which a pencil or ball-point pen P or the like can be received, held in the turn 3X when it is tightened until the notches 9 are positioned inside the slot 7. In these conditions an end part 3Y remains projecting from the turn 3X and from the slot 7 (Figure
4) which is sufficient for the two components 5A, 5B of the closing member to be coupled to hold the two parts 1A, 1B of the cover folded closed (Figure 5), as the turn 3X is tightened around the pencil P (or the like) in conditions to hold the pencil P by friction.
When the component 5A is detached from the component 5B, the turn 3X is loosened and the pencil (or the like) P can be removed for use, and the two parts 1 B, 1A can be opened for use.
The tie 3 - with the slot 7 and the notches 9 - can be produced directly by punching from the material of the back part 1A or even of the cover 1 as a whole. The components 5A, 5B can be applied adopting with the same criteria used for conventional production.
The drawing shows an example of the invention, which can vary in forms and arrangements without however departing from the scope of the concept on which the invention is based. Any reference numerals in the appended claims are provided to facilitate the reading thereof with reference to the description and to the drawing, and do not limit the scope of protection represented by said claims.
