Abstract
A three-dimensional cam is defined by the peripheral surface (5) of a rotation body (4) which contacts the cam across its entire length (11) and whose rotational axis (6) intersects the rotational axis (3) of the cam when the circular cylindrical base section (2) of the cam is produced. The elevation section of the cam (1) and the areas of the circular cylindrical base section (3) adjoining the same are only crossed once. In order to produce the elevation section, the rotation body (4) carries out movements which include a rotation about an axis (12). A three-dimensional cam produced according to the inventive method can be used for a cam follower to feel different elevation curves when the cam is displaced along its rotational axis.
