Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a flexible document folder for storing paper documents.
  • Document folders made of a plastic material or the like are known. These document folders are made of a relatively flexible material such as a plastic film which is folded and welded to form a document pocket into which a user can put papers. The document folders containing papers may then be placed in a ring binder or the like. Document folders are a simple and safe way of storing paper documents such that they are well protected from moisture and dirt when inserted into the document pocket. [0004] As similar storage folders with different contents can only be distinguished if the content is studied and inspected more closely, in the case of known document folders a label pocket is provided, into which a label is inserted.
  • the label pocket is formed by a film strip, which is fixed to the plastic firm of the document folder by means of weld seams, wherein an insertion slot for the label remains free at one side of the strip.

  • Figure 11a of the earlier application discloses a flexible folder in which a label pocket is formed within the plastic film which forms the main document pocket rather than providing a separate film strip which is fixed, e.g., welded, to the plastic film of the document folder to form a label pocket as previously described.
  • a problem with both the aforementioned arrangements is that a separate label material is required of a suitable size for insertion into the label pocket of the flexible document folder. These separate labels may become damaged or lost. Furthermore, if a folder is to be re-labeled then another label of suitable size is required. Furthermore, when labeling/re-labeling, the labels are required to be removed and inserted into the label pocket which can be fiddly, difficult to manipulate, and time consuming. Also, both the previously described arrangements require additional welding to form the label pocket.

  • Such an arrangement dispenses with the requirement for the provision of a label pocket with a separate label for insertion therein. There is no requirement to remove and replace a label when the flexible document folder is re-labeled. Instead, the original label can be written on, erased and re- written on.
