Abstract

 OSCユニット1(100)は、光通信ネットワーク上で伝送される光信号(11,12)から監視用信号を分波する分波手段(13a,13d)と、分波手段(13a,13d)によって分波された後の監視用信号を伝送する光ファイバ(L1~L4)が接続される接続手段と、接続手段を介して接続された光ファイバ(L1~L4)を介して入力された監視用信号に含まれ、光信号の伝送方向を示す方向情報を検出する検出手段と、検出手段によって検出された方向情報と、あらかじめ設定された固有方向情報とに基づいて、接続手段に対する光ファイバ(L1~L4)の接続が正常であるか否かを判断する判断手段と、判断手段の判断結果に基づいて、光ファイバ(L1~L4)の接続が異常と判断された場合に、光通信ネットワークに対する光信号の出力を停止する制御手段と、を備える。

光通信装置および光通信制御方法
技術分野
[0001] 本発明は、光ファイバが切断された場合に、安全のため発光素子の出力を強制的 に停止させる APSD (Auto Power Shut Down)機能を備えた光通信装置およ び光通信制御方法に関するものである。
背景技術
[0002] 従来、光伝送における発光素子には、 LD (Laser Diode;レーザダイオード)が用 いられているが、 LDを扱う機器には、レーザが人体へ触れた際の影響を考慮して、 各機器の LDの出力パワーの強度に応じた安全対策を施す義務が課せられている。 具体例を挙げると北米地域では米国の FDA (Food and Drug Administration ;食品医薬品局)の下部組織である CDRH (Center for Devices and Radiolo gical Health;医療機器放射線保健センター)、ヨーロッパ地域では IEC (Internat ional Electrotechnical Commission;国際電気標準会議)が、その安全対策の 基準を定めている。
[0003] 上述の CDRHでは、光出力レベルごとにクラス分けを行い、クラス別に安全対策を 義務付けている。例えば、波長力 Sl060nm— 1400nmの光の場合、運用中のレー ザの出力レベルが 0. 198mW(-7. ldBm)以下、もしくは波長が 1400nm— 106n mの光の場合、運用中のレーザの出力レベルが 0. 79mW(-l. OdBm)以下であれ ば最も危険度の低い CLASSIと分類され、危険なものとは見なされない。同じく波長 が 1400nm— 10。nmの光であってもレーザの出力レベルが 500mW ( + 27dBm)で あると危険度が上から 2番目に高い CLASSIIIbに分類され、レーザの放射を直接、 皮膚や目にさらすと非常に危険であると見なされる。したがって、 CLASSIであれば 製品に「CertificationZldentification」ラベルを、 CLASSIIIbであれば製品に「D ANGER」ラベルを貼り付け利用者に注意を喚起する。加えて、 CLASSIIIbであれ ば光ファイバなどへの脱着時には直接人の目に入らないような装備をするように定め られている。 [0004] 近年の光通信分野では、波長の異なる光信号を多重化する WDM (Wavelength Division Multiplexing ;波長分割多重)技術により 1本の光ファイバに複数の光 信号を伝送する方法が一般的に行われている。したがって、 1波の光出力パワーレ ベルは、 + 2. 4dBm程度であっても、 40波を多重すると + 18. 4dBmという非常に 強い光出力となり CDRHでは CLASSIIIbに該当することから、光通信装置において も、出力するレーザへの安全対策は重要な課題となっている。
[0005] CLASSIIIbのレーザを扱う光通信装置における安全対策の一つとして広く用いら れているのが APSD (Auto Power Shut Down)機能である。 APSD機能は、誤 つて光ファイバが切断された場合にレーザの出力を強制的に止める機能で、光伝送 を行う装置全般に利用されている。以下、図を用いて WDMによる多重化光信号を 取り扱う一般的な光通信装置の構成と APSD機能がどのように動作しているかを述 ベる。
[0006] 図 8は、一般的な光通信のネットワーク構成を示す図である。図示するように、リング 型の光ファイバ網 10上に複数の光通信装置 (A— F)を備えたネットワーク構成が光 通信では最も一般的である。光ファイバ網 10は、伝送方向の異なる(図中の方向 aお よび方向 b) 2回線の光ファイバからなり、 OUPSR (Optical Unidirectional Path Switched Ring) t 、われるプロテクション方法を用いて通信を行う場合の接続を 示している。例えば、図示のように光信号を光通信装置 Aから挿入し (Add)、光通信 装置 Dによって分岐する(Drop)場合は、送信端である光通信装置 Aの挿入ポートに 上り回線 l l (Work Path;現用回線)と、下り回線 12 (Protection Path;予備回 線)が接続され、同一の光信号を 2回線に伝送する。受信端となる光通信装置 Dは、 上り回線 11と分岐ポートを接続し光信号の分岐を行う。上り回線 11に故障が生じ光 信号の伝送が不可能になった場合は、光通信装置 Dの分岐ポートは下り回線 12と 接続し、通常時と同じように分岐を行う。このような OUPSRの他にも光ファイバ網 10 の構成を用いて、 OSPPR(Optical Shared Path Protection Ring)というプロ テクシヨンも行われる。
[0007] 図 9は、光通信装置の接続および内部構成を示す図である。光通信装置 A— ま 、光信号を光通信用の WDM信号と、光ファイバ切断等のネットワークの故障信号や 故障に対応するための制御信号を取り扱う OSC (Optical Supervisory Channel ;光監視チャネル)信号とに分波 ·合波する OSC力ブラ 13 (a— d)と、 WDM信号の増 幅と、 WDM信号の入力の監視とを行う WDMアンプ 14 (a— d)と、 OSC信号の送受 信を行う OSCユニット 15 (OSCl, 2)からなり(光通信装置 Aおよび光通信装置 ま 、一部省略)、図 8に示す光通信装置 D— Fも同様の構成を有する。また、以上述べ たような基本的な構成に加えて、光通信装置 Bのように OSCカプラ 13aと WDMアン プ 14aとの間に接続ポート 16を設け、伝送により分散された光信号の補償を行う DC F (Dispersion Compensation Fiber;分散補償ファイノく)ユニット 17を接続する ことも多い。図示した光ファイバによる接続の他に各光通信装置の内部の各素子は、 図示しない電気配線により電気信号の伝送が行われるようになつている。
[0008] 光通信装置 A— Cには光信号を方向 aに伝送する上り回線 11と方向 bに伝送する 下り回線 12とが接続されている。上り回線 11から入力された光信号は、 OSC力ブラ 1 3aにより、下り回線 12から入力された光信号は OSCカプラ 13cにより、 WDM信号と OSC信号とに分波される。分波されたWDM信号は、WDMァンプ14 (a, b)を経由 することで増幅される。このとき光通信装置 Bのように DCFユニット 17が設けられてい る場合は、 DCFユニット 17により分散補償が行われたのち、 WDMアンプ 14aへ入 力される。 OSC信号は、上り回線 11については光ファイバ L1を介して OSCユニット 15 (OCSl)に入力される。下り回線 12については光ファイバ L4を介して OSCュ- ット 15 (OSC2)へ入力される。 OSCユニット 15 (OSCl, OSC2)は、入力された OS C信号に応じて新たな OSC信号を出力する。増幅された WDM信号と、 OSCュ-ッ ト 15から出力された OSC信号は、上り回線 11であれば、光ファイバ L3を介して OSC カプラ 13bによって、下り回線 12であれば光ファイバ L2を介して OSCカプラ 13dによ つて合波され、各回線に出力することで光信号が伝送される。
[0009] つぎに、光通信装置 A— Cに着目して、実際に光ファイバの切断が生じた場合の A PSD機能の動作を説明する。例えば、図 9に示す上り回線 11上の位置 18で光フアイ バの切断が生じた場合、光通信装置 Bの上り回線 11の入力ポート 20には、光信号 が入力されない。したがって、上り回線 11の入力側の WDMアンプ 14aは、 WDM信 号が入力されてこないことから WDM信号断絶が検出される。同様に OSCユニット 15 (OSC1)も OSC信号が入力されないこと力も OSC_LOS (OSC信号断絶)が検出 される。 WDMアンプ 14aは、検出した WDM信号断絶情報を電気信号として OSC ユニット 15 (OSCl)へ送信する(Sl)。 OSCユニット 15 (OSCl)は、 OSC— LOSの 検出と、 WDM信号断絶情報の受信が同時に行われると、アンプ出力を停止させる ための制御信号を電気信号として WDMアンプ 14dに送信する(S2)。 OSCユニット 15は、 WDM信号が運用されて 、な 、ために WDM信号断絶情報が送信されてくる 場合や、他の光通信装置内の OSCユニットの故障等により OSC— LOSが検出され る場合も想定されるため、 OSC— LOSの検出と、 WDM信号断絶情報の受信が同 時に発生して 、る場合のみ光ファイバの切断が生じて 、ると判断するようになって!/ヽ る。
[0010] これと同時に、 OSCユニット 15 (OSCl)は、下り回線 12を介して、光通信装置 Aの OSCユニット 15 (OSC2)へ、 APSD機能を実行させるための APSD— CONT信号 を OSC信号として送信する(S3)。制御信号を受信した光通信装置 Bの WDMアン プ 14dは、出力を停止する。 APSD— CONT信号を受信した光通信装置 Aの OSC ユニット 15 (OSC2)は、光通信装置 Aから上り回線 11への光信号の出力を停止させ るための制御信号を電気信号として WDMアンプ 14bへ送信する(S4)。このような A PSD機能により(例えば、下記特許文献 1参照。)、光通信装置 A, B間の上り回線 1 1および下り回線 12を伝送する光信号を停止でき、復旧作業を行う作業者への安全 性が確保できる。

発明の開示
発明が解決しょうとする課題
[0012] し力しながら、現在開示されている APSD機能を備えた WDM装置などの光通信装 置は、目的とする機能や動作にあわせて、筐体に対して機能ごとにまとめられたュ- ットを挿入することで各素子間の光ファイバの接続を行う形態が一般的であるため、 光通信装置内部での OSCユニット 15 (OSCl, OSC2)に対する光ファイバ L1一 L4 の接続ミスが発生することがある。図 10は、光通信装置における光ファイバの接続ミ スの例を示す図である。光ファイバの接続ミスとして想定されるのが図中の光通信装 置 Bのように OSCユニット 15 (OSCl, 2)内における光ファイバ LI一 L4の接続を逆( 図示の場合、異なる OSCユニット 15に対するクロス配線)を行うケースである。このよ うに光通信装置 B内部における OSCユニット 15 (OSCl, 2)に対する光ファイバ L1 一 L4の接続を誤ったまま同一光ファイバ網 10 (図 8参照)上の光通信装置 A— Fを 一斉に立ち上げた場合、光通信装置 Bに接続されている光通信装置 Aも光通信装 置 Cも基本的に同じ動作を行う装置であるため、光通信装置 Bは、光ファイバ L1一 L 4の接続ミスに気付かず、正常時のように立ち上がってしまう。
[0013] このような接続ミスの状態のまま、上り回線 11における位置 18の光ファイバが切断 された場合、光通信装置 Bの OSCユニット 15 (OSCl)においては、 WDMアンプ 14 aが検出した WDM信号断絶は、電気信号として伝送されるが、 OSC力ブラ 13aで分 波された OSC信号は、 OSCユニット 15 (OSC2)へ伝送されてしまうため、 OSC— L OSを検出することができない。したがって、このような接続状態では、位置 18の光フ アイバが切断しても、光通信装置 Bの WDMアンプ 14dおよび光通信装置 Aの WDM アンプ 14bの出力は停止せず、高出力の光信号が光ファイバ上を伝送したままとなり 、 CLASSIIIbの安全対策の基準を満たすことができない。よって、光ファイバ切断の 復旧を行う作業者の安全を確保することができな 、。
[0014] 本発明は、上記に鑑みてなされたものであって、光通信装置内部の光ファイバの接 続を誤った状態であっても、 APSD機能を実現できる光通信装置および光通信制御 方法を提供することを目的とする。
課題を解決するための手段
[0015] 上述した課題を解決し、目的を達成するために、本発明は、光通信ネットワーク上 で伝送される光信号から監視用信号を分波する分波手段と、前記分波手段によって 分波された後の前記監視用信号を伝送する光ファイバが接続される接続手段と、前 記接続手段を介して接続された前記光ファイバを介して入力された前記監視用信号 に含まれ、前記光信号の伝送方向を示す方向情報を検出する検出手段と、前記検 出手段によって検出された前記方向情報と、あらかじめ設定された固有方向情報と に基づ!/、て、前記接続手段に対する前記光ファイバの接続が正常である力否かを判 断する判断手段と、前記判断手段の判断結果に基づいて、前記光ファイバの接続が 異常と判断された場合に、前記光通信ネットワークに対する前記光信号の出力を停 止する制御手段と、を備えることを特徴とする。
[0016] 上記構成によれば、光信号の監視用信号に付加された方向情報の検出によって、 光ファイバの接続が正常である力否かを検出し、光通信装置内の光ファイバが誤つ て接続された場合には光通信ネットワークに対する光信号の出力を停止することがで きる。
発明の効果
[0017] 本発明にかかる光通信装置および光通信制御方法によれば、光信号に含まれる 接続方向を示す方向情報によって、光通信装置内の光ファイバが誤って接続された 場合であっても、光ファイバが正しく接続されている状態と同様に APSD機能を実現 することができ、作業者に対する安全性を確保できるという効果を奏する。

[0021] 図 1は、本発明にカゝかる光通信装置の内部の光ファイバの接続ミス時の APSD機 能を示す図である。光ファイバ L1一 L4は、図 10と同様な接続ミスの状態としている。 同様に、図中の光通信装置 1一 3は、図 8に示すようなリング型の光ファイバ網 10上 に備えられている。各光通信装置 1一 3は、それぞれ 4つの OSCカプラ 13 (a— d)と、 4つの WDMアンプ 14 (a— d)と、 4つのスィッチユニット(SW) 101と、 2つの OSCュ ニット 100 (OSC1, 2)とから構成される(光通信装置 1, 3は図示の一部を省略して ある)。また、以上のような基本的な構成にカ卩えて、光通信装置 2には、 OSC力ブラ 1 3aと WDMアンプ 14aの間に接続ポート 16を設け、伝送により分散された光信号の 補償を行う DCF (Dispersion Compensation Fiber;分散補償ファイノく)ユニット 17が接続されている。また、光通信装置 1一 3の内部には、図示しない CPUユニット が存在している。また、 CPUユニットを含めた各機能部は、電気的に配線されており 、互いに電気信号の伝送ができるようになって!/、る。

[0023] 運用時、光通信装置 1一 3には、 a方向に光信号を伝送する上り回線 11と b方向に 光信号を伝送する下り回線 12とが接続されている。上り回線 11から入力された光信 号は、入力側の OSCカプラ 13aによって、通信用の光信号である WDM信号と、監 視用の光信号である OSC信号とに分波される。一般的に WDM信号は、 1528. 77 一 1563. 45nm(C-band) , 1573. 71— 1607. 04nm (L— band)帯の光を用い、 OSC信号は、 1510nm (C— band)、 1625nm (L— band)の光が用いられていること から、 OSC力ブラ 13aでは、帯域別に分波を行うことで WDM信号と OSC信号を分け ることがでさる。
[0024] OSCカプラ 13aによって分波された WDM信号は、 DCFユニット 17が備えられて V、る場合は DCFユニット 17を経由して、 DCFユニット 17が備えられて!/、な!/、場合は そのまま WDMアンプ 14aへ入力され増幅される。増幅された WDM信号は、光信号 の光路のスイッチングを行うスィッチユニット(SW) 101によって WDM信号の波長ご とに図示しな!、分岐部に分岐 (Drop)、もしくは光通信装置 3の方向に透過 (Throug h)される。スィッチユニット(SW) 101をそのまま透過した WDM信号や、図示しない 挿入部からスィッチユニット(SW) 101を通じて光通信装置 2に新たに挿入 (Add)さ れた WDM信号は、出力側の WDMアンプ 14bに入力され、増幅される。増幅された WDM信号は、 OCSカプラ 13bによって、 OSC信号と合波され、光通信装置 3方向 の上り回線 11に伝送される。

[0026] 光通信装置 1一 3には以上述べたような WDM信号を伝送するための基本動作を 行う機能部に加え、ネットワークを監視するための OSC信号を扱う機能部である OS Cユニット 100 (OSC1, 2)が備えられており、光ファイバの切断が生じた際は、 OSC 信号の指示によって切断部分の上り回線 11、下り回線 12へ光信号を伝送するため の WDMアンプを停止させて!/、た。このような機能を APSD機能と!/、う。 [0027] 通常、同一の光通信装置内において、 OSCユニット lOO (OSCl)は、上り回線 11 から伝送された OSC信号が入力され、入力された OSC信号に応じた OSC信号を出 力し下り回線 12へ伝送し、 OSCユニット 100 (OSC2)は、下り回線 12から伝送され た OSC信号が入力され、入力された OSC信号に応じた OSC信号を出力し、上り回 線 11へ伝送するようになっている。しかし、図 1に示す光通信装置 2のように上り回線 11と、下り回線 12とから OSC信号が入力される OSCユニット 100 (OSC1, 2)に対 する光ファイバ L1一 L4の接続を誤った場合、従来技術では、 APSD機能が働かな い。
[0028] 例えば、図 1に示す光通信装置 2の場合では、内部における各機能部の電気的接 続に関しては、光通信装置 2の図示しないバックボード上であら力じめ接続が行われ ているが、内部における光ファイバの光学的接続に関しては、光通信装置 2の図示し ないフロントボード上で手作業により行われる。通常、フロントボード上の各 OSCュ- ット 100 (OSC1, 2)の接続スロット(図示せず)は、外見上同様の構造で形成されて いる。このため、手作業による光ファイバ接続時に、上述したように OSCユニット 100 (OSC1, 2)の接続を誤ってしまう事態が起こり得るのである。
[0029] そこで本発明に力かる光通信装置 1一 3では、 OSCユニット 100に、新たに OSC信 号に方向 IDを格納する機能と、隣接する光通信装置から送信された OSC信号に格 納された方向 ID力も接続ミスを検出する機能と、接続に問題がない状態であるか、接 続ミスの状態であるかの判断を行 ヽ、状態に応じた OSC信号を送信する機能とを備 えることで APSD機能を実現させる。

[0031] 光 Z電気変換器 (OZE) 200は、光信号を電気信号に変換する。電気 Z光変換 器 (EZO) 201は、電気信号を光信号に変換する。 LDCC部 202は、 OSC信号の 生成および送出を行う。 WCH— Processor203は、 OSC信号に格納されている方 向 IDがあらかじめ設定された期待値と同じであるか否かの判断を行う。 Unit INF2 04は、光通信装置内の他の機能ユニットである OSCユニット(OSC2) 210と、 MUX ユニット(MUX) 211と、スィッチユニット(SW) 212と、 DMUXユニット(DMUX) 21 3とに接続しており、 OSCユニット lOO (OSCl)と、これら他の機能ユニットとのインタ 一フェースとして機能する。
[0032] 主信号処理部 205は、 OSC信号の方向 ID以外の主信号 (後で述べるペイロード 部 302)の処理を行い、インターフェース変換部 206によって CPUユニット(CPU) 2 09に接続され制御されている。 CPU— IZF207は、 INF— REG. 208と接続され、 CPUユニット 209とのインターフェースとして機能する。図示するように、光 Z電気変 換器 (O/E) 200への入力信号と、電気 Z光変換器 (E/O) 201からの出力信号は 、光信号であるが、それ以外は電気信号によって制御されている。また、 OSCュ-ッ HOSC2) 210も基本的に全く同じ内部構成であり、 Unit INF204から OSCュ-ッ ト 100 (OSC1)へ接続されて!、る点のみが異なる。
[0033] 図 3は、 OSC信号の伝送フレームを示す図である。本実施例では、光通信装置 1 一 3 (図 1参照)内の OSCユニット 100 (OSC1, 2)から伝送する OSC信号内に方向 情報(方向 ID)を格納する。図 3に示したのは伝送方式の一例として、 SONETにお ける伝送フレームを示した。 SONETとは光ファイバを用いた高速デジタル通信方式 の一つであり、この SONET方式を国際電気通信連合 '電気通信標準化セクタ (ITU TS)で標準化したものを SDHと呼ぶ。よって、 SDHZSONETと呼ばれることが一 般的である。図示するように伝送フレーム 300は、オーバーヘッド部 301と、ペイロー ド部(Payload) 302とからなる。オーバーヘッド部 301は、さらに SOH (Section O verHead) 303と、 LOH (Line OverHead) 304とから構成されて!、る。オーバー ヘッド部 301は、 SDHZSONETにおける伝送フレーム 300の特徴であり、ネットヮ ークの運用の高度化を図るために、運用保守情報を格納する領域であり、このォー バーヘッド部 301に、方向 IDを格納する。
[0034] 図 4は、オーバーヘッド部の構成を示す図である。オーバーヘッド部 301は、 9 X 9 の bit行列からなり、 3 9の1) 行列が3011303として、 6 X 9の bit行列が LOH304 として、データが格納されている。方向 IDは、 LOH304内の D4— D12の bit (灰色 部分)に格納される。方向 IDは、格納されている OSC信号の伝送方向を示す。した がって、正常な光ファイバの接続がなされている場合、上り回線 11へ OSC信号を出 力する OSCユニット 100 (OSC2)であれば、方向 aを示す方向 IDを、また、下り回線 12へ OSC信号を出力する OSCユニット lOO (OSCl)であれば、方向 bを示す方向 I Dを、それぞれ OSC信号へ格納する。
[0035] 方向 IDの格納方法としては、 2つの OSCユニット 100 (OSC1, 2)のどちらか一方 を電源側に、他方をグラウンド (GND)側に接続することで生じる電位差により異なる 方向 IDとなる。よって、例えば高電位による方向 IDは、方向 aとし、低電位による方向 IDは、方向 bを表す、というように設定を行うことで方向 IDを認識する。また、方向 ID を認識する方法としては、他〖こ OSCユニット 100 (OSC1, 2)が、シエルフに挿入され ると同時に、 CUPユニット 209 (図 2参照)によってどのスロットに挿入されたかを教え てもらい、そのスロット情報力も方向 IDを認識することもできる。
[0036] また、このような設定と同時に、各 OSCユニット 100 (OSC1, 2)において、方向 ID の期待値の設定も行っておく。この設定は先に述べたように図 2中の WCH— Proce ssor203で行う。期待値とは、 OSCユニット 100が正常に接続されている場合に受信 した OSC信号に格納されている方向 IDが示す方向(実施例では aもしくは b)を示す 。したがって OSC1であれば期待値は、方向 aとなり、 OSC2であれば期待値は方向 bと設定する。
[0037] 図 5は、 OSCユニットにおける接続ミス検出動作を示すフローチャートである。図 1 に示すように光通信装置 2にお 、て OSCユニット 100の接続ミスが生じて 、る場合の 光通信装置 2内の OSCユニット 100 (OSC1)の動作説明をする。まず、方向 IDが格 納された OSC信号を受信した力否かの判断を行う(ステップ S501)。方向 IDが格納 された OSC信号を受信していない場合 (ステップ S501 :No)、ステップ S501に戻り 、待機状態となる。
[0038] 方向 IDが格納された OSC信号を受信した場合 (ステップ S501: Yes)、つぎに、格 納されて 、る方向 IDが期待値と一致して 、るか否かの判断を行う(ステップ S502)。 ここで、受信した OSC信号に格納されて 、る方向 IDと期待値が一致した場合 (ステツ プ S502 : Yes)、 OSCユニット 100の光ファイバ接続は正常だと判断できることから、 通常動作を行い (ステップ S503)、検出処理を終了する。ここでいう通常動作とは、 光ファイバが通常に接続されている際に OSC信号によって行われる APSD機能を意 味する。具体的な通常動作については、後で詳しく述べる(図 7参照)。
[0039] 受信した OSC信号に格納されて 、る方向 IDが期待値と一致しな力つた場合 (ステ ップ S502 :No)、 OSCユニット 100の光ファイバ接続ミスを検出したこととなり、通常 の APSD機能を行えない。したがって、作業者によって光ファイバの接続ミスが解消 されるまで、光通信装置 2から上り回線 11および下り回線 12へ出力する WDM信号 を増幅している WDMアンプ 14b, 14dと、光通信装置 2に上り回線 11から入力する WDM信号を増幅する光通信装置 1の WDMアンプ 14bと、下り回線 12から入力す る WDM信号を増幅する光通信装置 3の WDMアンプ 14dとを停止させなければなら ない。
[0040] そこで、まず OSCユニット 100と同じ光通信装置内の WDMアンプへ、出力停止信 号を送る (ステップ S504)。このとき出力停止信号は、電気信号であるため、光フアイ バの接続に依存せず伝送できる。よって、 OSCユニット 100であっても OSC1で接続 ミスを検出した場合は、下り回線 12へ出力する WDM信号を増幅する WDMアンプ 1 4dへ、 OSC2で接続ミスを検出した場合は、上り回線 11へ出力する WDM信号を増 幅する WDMアンプ 14bへそれぞれ出力停止信号を送るように、一意的に設定して おく。続けて、 OSC信号の送信元の OSCユニットへ APSD— CONT信号を送る(ス テツプ S505)。図 1の例では、 OSCユニット lOO (OSCl)が受信した OSC信号の送 信元は、光通信装置 3の OSCユニット lOO (OSCl)である。 APSD— CONT信号は 、 OSC信号(光信号)の一部であり、当該 OSCユニット lOO (OSCl)力 APSD— C ONT信号を出力すれば、接続関係から自動的に送信元の光通信装置 3の OSCュ ニット 100 (OSC1)へ送信される。以上で、光通信装置 2内の OSCユニット 100 (OS C1)の接続ミス検出動作は終了する。
[0041] 図 6は、接続ミス検出時の OSCユニットの動作を示すフローチャートである。図を用 いて、 OSCユニット 100において、 APSD— CONT信号を受信した場合の動作につ いて説明する。まず、 APSD— CONT信号を受信した力否かの判断を行う(ステップ S601)。 APSD— CONT信号を受信していない場合 (ステップ S601 :No)、 OSCュ ニット 100の光ファイバ接続は正常だと判断できることから、通常動作を行い (ステツ プ S603)、接続ミス検出時の OSCユニットの動作を終了する。
[0042] APSD— CONT信号を受信した場合 (ステップ S 601: Yes)、同じ光通信装置内の WDMアンプへ出力停止信号を送る (ステップ S602)。このとき出力停止信号は、電 気信号であるため、光ファイバの接続に依存せず伝送できる。出力を停止させたい のは、 APSD— CONT信号を受信した OSCユニットから出力した OSC信号と合波さ れる WDM信号を増幅する WDMアンプである。よって、 OSCユニット 100 (OSC1) が APSD— CONT信号を受信した際には、 WDMアンプ 14d、 OSCユニット 100 (0 SC2)が APSD— CONT信号を受信した際には、 WDMアンプ 14bへそれぞれ、出 力停止信号を送ると設定しておく。以上で接続ミス検出時の OSCユニットの動作を終 了する。
[0043] 以上の動作は、各光通信装置(1一 3)内のすべての OSCユニット 100 (OSC1, 2) において図 5および図 6の動作が行われていることから、光通信装置 2の OSCュ-ッ ト 100 (OSC2)においても接続ミスが検出され、図 5および図 6の動作から光通信装 置 2の WDMアンプ 14bと、光通信装置 1の WDMアンプ 14bの出力を停止させる。よ つて、出力停止させたい WDMアンプすべてが、停止した状態となり、通常動作に代 わる APSD機能による出力制御方法となる。
[0044] 図 7は、光ファイバの接続が正常な場合の光通信装置の動作を説明する図である。
図示するように光ファイバ L1一 L4の接続を正常に戻した後、 OSCユニット 100 (OS C1, 2)では、再度、受信した OSC信号内の方向 IDと設定された期待値が一致した か否かの判断が行われる。このとき方向 IDと期待値は一致するため、光通信装置 1 一 3は、そのまま運用する。
[0045] このような通常運用時に上り回線 11の位置 18の光ファイバが切断した場合は、光 通信装置 2の WDMアンプ 14aにおいて、 WDM信号断絶が検出される。同様に OS Cユニット 100 (OCS1)も OSC信号が入力されないことから OSC— LOS (OSC信号 断絶)が検出される。 WDMアンプ 14aは、検出した WDM信号断絶情報を電気信号 として OSCユニット 100 (OSC1)へ送信する(S 11)。 OSCユニット 100 (OSC1)は、 OSC— LOSの検出と、 WDM信号断絶情報の受信が同時に行われると、アンプ出 力を停止させるための制御信号を電気信号として WDMアンプ 14dに送信する(S12

[0046] これと同時に、 OSCユニット lOO (OSCl)は、下り回線 12を介して、光通信装置 1 の OSCユニット 100 (OSC2)へ、 APSD機能を実行させるための APSD— CONT 信号を OSC信号として送信する(S13)。制御信号を受信した光通信装置 2の WDM アンプ 14dは、出力を停止する。 APSD— CONT信号を受信した光通信装置 1の O SCユニット 100 (OSC2)は、光通信装置 1から上り回線 11へ出力する光信号を停止 させるための制御信号を電気信号として WDMアンプ 14bへ送信する(S14)。以上 の動作により、光通信装置 1, 2間の WDM信号の出力が停止し、作業者の安全を確 保できる。以上が通常動作時の APSD機能による出力制御方法である。
[0047] このように、本実施例では、従来力 ある OSC信号のオーバーヘッド部の領域に方 向 IDを新たに格納することで、従来技術では、出力制御できないような事態にも AP SD機能を実行させることが可能となり、 CLASSIIIbの安全基準に対応した安全性の 高 ヽ光通信装置を提供できる。
産業上の利用可能性
[0048] 以上のように、本発明にかかる光通信装置および光通信制御方法は、高出力の光 信号が扱われている機器に有用であり、特に、高密度に多重された光信号を伝送す る DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing ;高密度波長分割多重 方式)を行う光通信装置に適している。

Claims

請求の範囲
[1] 光通信ネットワーク上で伝送される光信号から監視用信号を分波する分波手段と、 前記分波手段によって分波された後の前記監視用信号を伝送する光ファイバが接 続される接続手段と、
前記接続手段を介して接続された前記光ファイバを介して入力された前記監視用 信号に含まれ、前記光信号の伝送方向を示す方向情報を検出する検出手段と、 前記検出手段によって検出された前記方向情報と、あらかじめ設定された固有方 向情報とに基づいて、前記接続手段に対する前記光ファイバの接続が正常であるか 否かを判断する判断手段と、
前記判断手段の判断結果に基づ!/ヽて、前記光ファイバの接続が異常と判断された 場合に、前記光通信ネットワークに対する前記光信号の出力を停止する制御手段と を備えることを特徴とする光通信装置。
[2] 前記判断手段は、前記方向情報が示す伝送方向と、前記固有方向情報が示す伝 送方向とを比較し、比較の結果が一致する場合は、前記光ファイバの接続が正常と 判断し、比較の結果が異なる場合は、前記光ファイバの接続が異常と判断することを 特徴とする請求項 1に記載の光通信装置。
[3] 前記制御手段は、前記光通信ネットワークに対して前記光信号の出力を停止させ る制御信号を送信することを特徴とする請求項 1に記載の光通信装置。
[4] 前記監視用信号に対して前記方向情報を付加する情報付加手段と、
前記情報付加手段によって前記方向情報が付加された前記監視用信号を前記光 信号に合波して前記光通信ネットワークに出力する合波手段と、
を備えることを特徴とする請求項 1に記載の光通信装置。
[5] 前記制御手段は、前記監視用信号の状態を監視し、前記光通信ネットワーク上の 光回線の切断を検出したとき前記光信号の出力を停止させる APSD (Auto Power Shut Down)制御手段を備えて 、ることを特徴とする請求項 1一 4の 、ずれか一 つに記載の光通信装置。
[6] 光通信ネットワーク上で伝送される光信号から分波された後の前記監視用信号に 含まれ、前記光信号の伝送方向を示す方向情報を検出する検出工程と、 前記検出工程によって検出された前記方向情報と、あらかじめ設定された固有方 向情報とに基づいて、前記監視用信号を伝送する光ファイバの接続が正常であるか 否かを判断する判断工程と、
前記判断工程の判断結果に基づ!ヽて、前記光ファイバの接続が異常と判断された 場合に、前記光通信ネットワークに対する前記光信号の出力を停止する制御工程と を含むことを特徴とする光通信制御方法,
