Description
CONSTRUCTION 'ELEMENT * * * * *
DESCRIPTION
The aim of the present invention is a construction element .
Construction elements, more commonly called bricks, are usually employed for carrying out structures in the building and the furnishings fields : for example, bearing pillars , partition walls and garden fittings . The invention will be described with reference to this kind of application even if, of course, it could find an application in the construction of any kind of structure .
Construction elements made of clay are known. Generally,' they are preformed and then fired in proper ovens . The construction elements made of- clay are parallelepiped-shaped and, generally, they are equipped with internal through-cavities for improving the stress resistance and the insulating ability thereof . The construction elements of a known type can have different dimensions . Usually, they are characterized by a width of 25 cm, a length of 30 cm and a height of 20 cm.
As it is known in the construction of a structure, the different construction elements are horizontally assό-
ciated and vertically superposed and then fixed with a cementing compound, generally formed with sand, water and cement or lime . In particular, such elements are positioned so that their through-cavities are placed with the main axis substantially vertical . Moreover, the elements horizontally associated are fixed so as to be staggered relative to those underlying, in order to increase the resistance of the structure . However, the construction elements of the known type also present some drawbacks .
First of all , in order to carry out a structure with the construction elements of a_ known type, particular permissions of building concession are required. Secondly, the construction of such a structure requires the intervention of skilled staff . Furthermore, the known construction elements give rise to permanent structures that, for being moved, have to be demolished . Finally, the construction of structures using the traditional construction elements needs quite a long time, as it is necessary .to wait that the cementing compound, which contains a high percentage of water, is completely dried .
In this situation, the technical task placed at the bottom of the present 'invention is to provide a construction element capable of overcoming the mentioned
drawbacks .
Therefore, the aim of the present invention is to propose a construction element which can be employed for carrying out structures without the need of permis- ' sions from the pubblic body. The second aim of the invention is to provide a construction element which is • easy to handle and, therefore, does not necessarily require the intervention of skilled staff . It is also an aim of the invention to present a construction element which allows to rapidly carry out some structures . A further aim is to propose a construction element which is easy to carry out and with- a quite inexpensive cost .
These and other obj ects, which better result during the following description, are substantially attained, according to the present invention, by a construction element according to the appended claims . Further features and advantages will result to a greater extent from the detailed description of a construction element according to the invention, shown by way of example in the enclosed drawings , wherein :
- figure 1 is a perspective view of the construction element according to the invention;
- figure 2 shows a perspective view of a portion of structure carried .out with some construction elements
according to the invention .
With reference to the mentioned figures , a construction element 1 according to the invention has a parallelepiped shape and is characterized in that it .is made of wood .
Alternatively, the construction element 1 can have any polyhedrical shape suitable for the purpose, for example a cubic shape .
The construction elements 1 are preferably carried out by cutting a piece of massive wood using the conventional machines for the cutting of wood, so as to form some stripes with a width 2 and a height 4 equal to those of the element 1 that one desires to obtain, to which the edges 3 are blunted. Subsequently, the various elements are obtained, always using the conventional machines for the cutting of wood. Such elements 1, finally, are finished by blunting the edges and the remained sharp vertexes 2 , 4 , 5. Of course , each of the edges 2 , 3, 4 or the . vertexes 5 could not be blunted for aesthetical purposes, or simply in order to avoid an additional processing.
Advantageously, the construction elements 1 •■ described are made of a wood selected from a group consisting of pine and fir wood, like cheap woods , walnut and iroko, like expensive woods, and beechwood, oak, ash, maple,
chestnut wood, cherry wood, locust, linden, larch and hornbeam like woods with an intermediate cost . The construction elements 1 are preferably made of massive wood but in a varying embodiment could also be made of other kinds of material obtained from wood, for example particle board or glulam. Finally, some internal cavities , for lighten the structure thereof or for other purposes , could also be foreseen . The construction elements 1 can be carried out in any dimension . However, preferably, a base dimension is selected, characterized in that it has a width 2 , a length 3 and a height 4 equal to 12 cm, 24 cm and 6 cm, respectively. From this base dimension, other dimensions can be deduced. For example, the construction elements 1 can present a length 3 included in an interval between 10 cm and 30. cm and of an even value, a width 2 included in an interval between 5 cm and 12 cm and of an even value and a height 4 selected from a group of values constituted of 3 cm, 5 cm, 6 cm and 8 cm.
Advantageously, the construction elements 1, as the known ones , can be both horizontally and vertically associated, so as to . form a structure 10. In this - case, they are fixed one another by a glue, preferably of a vinyl type .
In the carrying out of structures 10 , the construction elements 1 are horizontally associated preferably in a staggered way with respect to those directly underlying, in order to increase the resistance of the structure 10 itself. In the decorations , on the contrary, in order to obtain particular aesthetical effects , the elements 1 can be also superposed in a non-staggered way. Moreover, in both cases, elements 1, both of the same dimensions and different dimensions can be used. The use of the described construction elements 1 is directed to many applications . Indoors , for example, they can be employed in the construction of small walls , partition walls , decorations , stairs , flooring and lining . Outdoors,' they can be used in the carrying out of wooden cottages , bearing pillars of structures , garden cabins, garden furniture and fountains . A further application is in the furnishings , where such elements 1 can be employed for building tables , wardrobes , chairs and flower boxes .
The inventive concept of the present invention also includes a method for carrying out a structure, characterized in that it includes the step of vertically and/or horizontally associating, by a glue, a plurality of construction elements according to what above described.
All the details are replaceable with other technically equivalent elements .
The invention attains important advantages . First of all , the embodiment of the construction elements results very easy and makes use of the traditional machines , so as to allow a cost reduction, also by making the elements in massive wood. Secondly, the structures carried out with the construction elements described, with the exception of the wooden cottages , are not subj ected to any permissions of building concession . Furthermore, the assembly process of the construction elements results very intuitive, fast and easy, and therefore the intervention of skilled staff is often unnecessary . A further advantage is determined in that the wood is perfectly suited to the use of glue, above all of the vinyl type, as cementing material , and therefore the structures made with the construction elements subj ect of the invention require- reduced times of setting up and can be movable . A further advantage is that the elements shown are suited, from the dimensional point of view, to the construe- tion of any type of structures , considering the width of measures according which they can be carried out . Finally, the described elements have a wide application in the furnishings field, in fact the wood re-
suits much warmer with respect to- other materials, for example the cement, and given the several varieties ■ which can be employed in the carrying out of the construction elements , it can be adapted to any requirements of colour and aesthetics .
