Description
DEVICE FOR CONNECTING ROPES WITH A STEP PLATE AND ROPE LADDER COMPRISING THE SAME DEVICE
Technical Field
[1] The present invention relates to a rope ladder, and more particularly, to a rope ladder for a ship and a device for connecting ropes with a rung(that is a step plate) , which is used in manufacturing the rope ladder for a ship. Background Art
[2] For example, a rope ladder for a ship is used for a pilot to get on a large ship from a small boat such that he/she guides a large ship from an outer port into an inner port. Such a rope ladder for a ship is disclosed in PCT Publication No. WO 00/44614 (entitled Rung for Pilot Ladder, laid-opened on August 3, 2000). The disclosed rope ladder for a ship is configured in such a manner that ropes are threaded respectively through two pairs of holes formed on a rung and the ropes are tied up with each other by a cord. However, there s a problem in that such a rope ladder for a ship requires complicated and time-consuming assembling works since a pair of ropes should be gathered and fixed by winding the cord several times around the gathered ropes.
[3] In the meantime, a method of manufacturing a rope ladder for a ship is disclosed in
PCT Publication No. WO 2004/104282 owned by the applicant of the present application. In this publication, rings are formed at both ends of a plurality of ropes with a certain length. Hasps for engagement with the rings of the ropes and guide holes for guiding the ropes are formed on a hook fixed to a rung such that the rings of the ropes passing through the guide holes of the hook are hooked with the hasps of the hook. This prior art has an advantage in that the assembly of a rope ladder for a ship can be achieved by a simple process of engaging the rings of the rope with the hasps of the hook. Disclosure of Invention
Technical Problem
[4] However, there is a problem in that the aforementioned prior art also requires complicated and troublesome works of first preparing the ropes with a predetermined length corresponding to an interval between the adjacent rungs and forming the rings at both ends of the prepared ropes. Moreover, since the rope ladder for a ship according to the prior art so configured is accomplished through the process of hooking the rings of the rope on the hasps of the hook, it is difficult to provide reliable connection between the ropes and the rung and a serious accident may be caused in a case where the rings of the rope are disengaged from the hasps of the hook during use of the rope
ladder. Furthermore, it is inconvenient for a user to climb up using the prior art rope ladder since a single graspable rope is provided on either side of the rope ladder. Technical Solution
[5] Accordingly, it is an object of the present invention to provide a device for connecting ropes with a rung, wherein the ropes and rung can be easily coupled by simply widening a space between the ropes within a pipe portion formed with guide holes through which the ropes are guided such that the ropes can be fixed to an inner surface of the pipe portion and the pipe portion can be then fixed to the rung.
[6] It is another object of the present invention to provide a rope ladder, wherein ropes are fixed to an inner surface of a pipe portion and the pipe portion are then fixed to a rung by simply widening a space between the ropes within the pipe portion formed with guide holes through which the ropes are guided.
[7] According to an aspect of the present invention for achieving the objects, there is provided a device for connecting a rung with ropes, comprising a rung fixture coupled with the rung and including a pipe portion formed with relatively small upper and lower guide holes through the ropes pass; and a wedge interposed between a plurality of the ropes to widen a space between the ropes, whereby the plurality of ropes cannot be escaped from the guide holes.
[8] According to another aspect of the present invention, there is provided a rope ladder including rungs, ropes, and a device for connecting the ropes with the rungs, wherein the connecting device comprises a rung fixture including a coupling portion coupled with the rung and a pipe portion formed with relatively small upper and lower guide holes through which the ropes pass; and a wedge interposed between a plurality of the ropes to widen a space between the ropes, whereby the plurality of ropes cannot be escaped from the guide holes.
Advantageous Effects
[9] According to the present invention, there is an advantage in that a rope ladder, more especially, a rope ladder for a ship can be easily and simply manufactured without performing the processes of cutting ropes into a specific length corresponding to an interval between adjacent rungs and forming rings at both ends of the cut ropes.
[10] Further, there is another advantage in that the rope ladder according to the present invention is convenient in use since a plurality of, more particularly, two graspable ropes can be provided at either side, as compared with the prior art rope ladder provided with only a single graspable rope at either side. Brief Description of the Drawings

[15] Hereinafter, a preferred embodiment of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.
[16] Referring to Fig. 1, a rope ladder according to the embodiment of the present invention comprises a plurality of rungs 1 and ropes 3 and 3 . Further, the rope ladder comprises a device for connecting each of the rungs 1 with the ropes 3 and 3 . In this embodiment, each of the rungs 1 includes a pair of right and left holes IA vertically penetrating the rung 1. The two ropes 3 and 3 can pass through each of the holes IA, and the device for connecting the ropes 3 and 3 with the rung 1 (hereinafter, referred to as connecting device ) is formed near each of the holes IA. The connecting device is more clearly shown in Figs. 2 to 4.
[17] As shown in Figs. 2 to 4, the connecting device of this embodiment comprises a rung fixture 2 through which the two parallel ropes 3 and 3 can pass in a state where it is coupled with the rung. The rung fixture 2 includes a pipe portion formed with upper and lower guide holes 202 and 201 for guiding the ropes 3 and 3 , and a coupling portion 203 perpendicularly extending from an outer surface of the pipe portion and then coupled with the rung. Further, a seating portion 101 in which the coupling portion 203 is seated is concavely formed in a bottom surface of the rung 1. The seating portion 101 communicates with the hole IA. The rung fixture 2 can be fixed to the rung 1 in a vertical direction by means of a fastener such as a bolt 5 in a state where the coupling portion 203 of the rung fixture 2 is seated in the seating portion 101 of the rung 1. In such a state, the pipe portion is kept fitted in the hole IA of the rung 1. The pipe portion comprise a portion which is formed at size larger than the upper and lower guide holes 202 and 201 and also includes a cut-out portion formed by partially cutting out an outer surface thereof between the guide holes 201 and 202.
[18] The connecting device according to this embodiment of the present invention further comprises a wedge 4 for allowing the pair of ropes 3 and 3 passing through the pipe portion of the rung fixture 2 to be fixed to the rung fixture 2. In this embodiment, the wedge 4 is inserted between the ropes 3 and 3 to thereby widen a space between the ropes 3 and 3 and also to bring the ropes 3 and 3 into close contact with an inner surface of the pipe portion. The ropes 3 and 3 , which have been separated from each
other and brought into close contact with the inner surface of the pipe portion by means of the wedge 4, are brought into tight contact with inner surfaces of the upper and the lower guide holes 202 and 201 with a relatively smaller size than the cut-out portion such that they can be tightly fixed to the inner surfaces of the pipe portion.
[19] Consequently, the ropes 3 and 3 can be firmly fixed to the inner surfaces of the pipe portion. Although it can be configured in this embodiment that the wedge 4 is inserted between the ropes 3 and 3 by an operator, the wedge 4 may be formed integrally on the inner surface of the pipe portion. In this case, the operator can fix the ropes 3 and 3 by inserting the wedge 4 between the ropes 3 and 3 and then pulling up the ropes 3 and 3 in the similar manner as described above.
[20] Accordingly, a rope ladder suitable for use in a ship can be manufactured by fixing a plurality of rungs to ropes using the aforementioned connecting device as shown in Fig. 1. Mode for the Invention
[21] Although it is preferred that the sectional shape of the rung fixture be substantially elliptical, the present invention is not limited thereto. That is, the pipe portion of the rung fixture may be formed into such a sectional shape as a rectangle, a circle, and so on. In addition, the shape of the wedge is not limited to that shown in the figures. That is, the wedge may be formed into various shapes. Especially, in a case where a surface of the wedge brought into contact with the ropes is concavely configured corresponding to surfaces of the ropes, strong and firm coupling with the wedge and the ropes can be made. Furthermore, although it has been described in the previous embodiment that the two ropes pass through each of the pipe portions, the number of ropes is not limited thereto so long as two or more ropes can be separated by the aforementioned wedge. Industrial Applicability
[22] The rope ladder according to the present invention can be more preferably used for a ship since it is configured to be especially suitable for a pilot to easily get on a large ship from a small boat. However, it will be apparent that the rope ladder of the present invention can be applied to many uses such as when climbing up and down a building or airplane at the exterior thereof.
