Description

Description
PILLOWFORPHOTOCHEMICALTREATMENT
Technical Field
[1] The present invention relates to a pillow for photochemical treatment, and more particularly to a pillow for photochemical treatment having light sources using semiconductor laser or LED (Light Emitting Diode) received in a quilt arranged at suitable intervals in an array pattern so as to uniformly irradiate light for medical treatment suitably for the diseased part. Background Art
[2] Photochemical action of plants is found in carbon dioxide assimilation, and it has been found that, when light is irradiated to a living body, ATP is produced to activate cells by means of the photochemical action. That is to say, a laser light with low energy that may not damage living cells is irradiated to a living body, a physiological function of the living body is activated and a natural recovering ability of the diseased part is improved. This is already well known in the medical fields through experiences of surgical operations using a high level laser.
[3] Recently, LLLT (Low Level Laser Therapy) for treating various diseases using the above action actively has been developed and used against various diseases. The biochemical action of light is determined depending on wavelength, polarization, and intensity of light, and it has been found through experiments that a light having an energy of about 100 mW with polarization of 600 nm to 1000 nm is most effective for the human body.
[4] This light can be generated using a He-Ne laser, a semiconductor laser, a YAG laser or the like, and the semiconductor laser is useful in terms of size and price, so semiconductors using GaAs (904 nm), GaAlAs (780-820-870 nm) and InGaAlP (630-685 nm) are mainly developed and sold. However, it has been reported that an emission light of LED may be used instead of such laser, and it is adapted to a product taking a serious view of manufacture cost. LED is not a coherent light in which lights of the same wavelength are focused like a laser light, so a bead width of LED cannot be focused less than a certain level, and also LED is not a polarized light. However, LED may give so similar effects as using a semiconductor laser if it generates light of 600 to 1000 nm and ensures intensity of 100 mW/cm.
[5] At present, various ache treatment is the most widely used in LLLT, and it has been greatly developed upon the opportunity that a professor Plog, Canada, irradiated He- Ne laser to acupuncture spots in a laser acupuncture pattern and got a successful result in removal of ache. These days, LLLT is found to give very excellent effects in treatment of diseases themselves as well as removal of ache by directly irradiating the laser to the diseased part in addition to the acupuncture spots, so its applications are greatly spread out. In particular, LLLT gives eminent effects on various chronic diseases known as being hard to cure. In addition, LLLT has epochal advantages that this treatment technique is essentially not invasive (requiring no operation) and not requiring medication and gives rare pain and rare side effects to a patient, and also a fee for the medical treatment is extremely low in comparison to traditional treatments.
[6] In order to utilize the advantages of LLLT, Korean Laid-open Patent Publication
No. 2003-41703, filed by an inventor of this application, discloses a quilt 2 having light sources 3 arranged in a predetermined array pattern as shown in FIG. 2. Disclosure of Invention Technical Problem
[7] However, most of existing curing devices developed for LLLT have a narrow irradiating diameter of several centimeters, which is suitable for a acupuncture spot irradiation that irradiates regular point but not suitable for the case requiring irradiation on a wide portion. In particular, in order to promote curing of an operated part after operation, treat an inflammation over a wide region, activate living cells in a wide region by uniform irradiation of light rather than an acupuncture spot, and make a treatment at home by an unskilled person, a light source having a wide irradiating diameter of several ten centimeters is required.
[8] In addition, there is still a need for a pillow for photochemical treatment, which may irradiate light to a diseased part though a patent does not make any special effort to position the light source accurately on a specific diseased part. Technical Solution
[9] The present invention is designed in consideration of the conventional techniques and the above problems, and therefore it is an object of the invention to provide a pillow for photochemical treatment, in which semiconductor lasers or LEDs are arranged at suitable intervals in an array pattern so that a light for treatment may be uniformly irradiated to a diseased part.
[10] Another object of the invention is to provide a pillow for photochemical treatment capable of irradiating a light for treatment toward the rear portion of the neck together with outputting oxygen or anions so that a user may feel refreshed and have a good sleep.
[11] Still another object of the invention is to provide a pillow for photochemical treatment having functions of air purification, deodorization, dehumidification, removal of harmful gas, preservative treatment, alleviation of pain, alleviation of fever, poison neutralizing, removal of pollutants and so on, by means of action of hardwood charcoal. [12] Further another object of the invention is to provide a pillow for photochemical treatment, which may be utilized in multi purposes in a house or car using combination of a pillow, a lower quilt and a side quilt so that a light for medical treatment may be irradiated to several diseased parts of a human body in a convenient way without requiring any effort of the user to fit the light to a position of a diseased part .

[27] In addition, the pillow for photochemical treatment may further include a controller for controlling power supplied to the plurality of light sources and generating and supplying oxygen or anions to the pillow body, wherein the pillow body may have a plurality of holes for emitting the oxygen or anions supplied from the controller.

FIG. 1 is a plane view showing a quilt provided with a light source array, and it is taken by seeing an inner surface side where a quilt 2 contacts with a diseased part.
[32] The quilt 2 is made of thick insulating sheet, and a flexible wire 5 is included therein. In the quilt 2, a plurality of light sources 3 such as laser semiconductors or LEDs are arranged to configure a predetermined array.
[33] In one embodiment, as shown in FIG. 1, the light sources 3 may be arranged in two groups, namely first and second groups for outputting lights with different wavelengths. The light sources 3 receive power from a controller 4 through a wire 5. The wire 5 is flexible so that its shape may be changed according to a shape of the quilt 2 with easiness.
[34] FIG. 2 is a side view showing the quilt provided with the light source array.
[35] On the quilt 2, doughnut-shaped rings 9 including the light sources 3 are arranged to configure a predetermined array, as shown in FIG. 2. Each ring 9 has a hole 9a into which the light source 3 may be inserted. Thus, the light source 3 composed of a laser semiconductor or LED may be protected by the rings 9. The ring 9 may be made of natural jade, elvan, tourmaline, gold, copper and the like.
[36] Meanwhile, as shown in FIG. 2, a hardwood charcoal layer 15a having a compressed hardwood charcoal may be included in the quilt 2. Thus, due to the action of the hardwood charcoal layer 15a, functions such as air purification, deodorization, dehumidification, removal of harmful gas, preservation treatment, alleviation of pain, alleviation of fever, poison neutralizing, and removal of pollutants may be additionally provided.
[37] FIG. 3 is a perspective view showing a pillow for photochemical treatment according to one embodiment of the present invention, FIG. 4 is a plane view thereof, and FIG. 5 is an inner sectional view thereof.
[38] The pillow 100 for photochemical treatment is configured by combining a pillow body 12 with a pillow quilt 11 having the light sources 3 on its surface for emitting light toward the back of the head of a user or the back of the neck of the user. The pillow body 12 is preferably made of sponge formed by natural rubber or synthetic resin, but various plastics, woods and other materials may also be made. The pillow quilt 11 is substantially identical to the aforementioned quilt 2 having light sources, and its surface may be made of leather, cloth, flexible plastic or the like.
[39] The pillow quilt 11 of the photochemical treatment pillow 100 has a plurality of light sources 3 arranged on its surface to configure a predetermined array. The photochemical treatment pillow 100 is coupled to the controller 4 through a supply line 50. The supply line 50 acts as a channel for supplying power and oxygen/anions. The controller 4 supplies power to be used in the light sources 3 of the pillow quilt 11, and generates oxygen or anions to be emitted through a hole 7 of the pillow body 12. As shown in FIG. 3, the controller 4 may include an on/off button 4a, an oxygen generation on/off button 4b, an anion generation on/off button 4c and so on.
[40] The light sources 3 may include the semiconductor laser that emits laser in a wavelength range of 660 nm to 890 nm. Alternatively, the light sources 3 may include LEDs. Thus, the photochemical treatment pillow 100 gives a place on which the back of the head of a user or the back of the neck of the user is placed and also gives LLLT action to a diseased part so as to give effects of prevention and treatment of loss of hair, prevention of dandruff, treatment of various head skin diseases.
[41] In addition, the pillow body 12 may have a hole 7 in at least a part thereof so as to emit oxygen or anions. A user who uses the photochemical treatment pillow 100 shown in FIGs. 3 and 4 may receive treatment effects due to the LLLT action on the back of the head and the back of the neck, and also receives effects of deep sleep and release of stress since he/she feels refreshed due to the actions of the oxygen or anions emitted through the hole 7 from right and left sides of the pillow body 12.
[42] The oxygen allows the user to be supplied with a sufficient amount of oxygen to increase immunity power, which makes the user feel refreshed and relieves fatigue, infirmity, chronic headache, and tameness, and also improve concentration power, thinking power, memory power, intellectual power, curing of hangover, and skin beauty, and prevents generation of 'cyoxin oxidase' that is a main factor of cancer, and also gives deodorizing effects.
[43] The anions give effects of purification of blood, increase of resisting power, control of autonomic nerve system, air purification, removal of dust, sterilization and so on. In addition, action of the anions gives effects of purification of blood, increase of resisting power, control of autonomic nerve system, air purification, removal of dust, sterilization and so on.
[44] First, as the purification of blood, the anions increase an ionizing ratio of calcium, sodium, and potassium that are mineral components in the blood to purify the blood by means of progress of alkalization, and increases an ionizing ratio of calcium and sodium in serum by means of generation of endorphin and enkaphalin so as to recover health, recovery fatigue, purification of the blood and release ache by activating cells suffering from serious pains.
[45] In addition, as the increase of resisting power, the anions increase an amount of globulin that is an immune component included in the serum so as to improve the resisting power against infectious symptoms, so a curing effect is given faster when using the anion therapy.
[46] Also, as the control action of an autonomic nerve system, the anions control the autonomic nerve system responding to thinking or feeling of a person such as all blood vessels and internal organs to be more beneficial for a human body.
[47] Also, as action of the air purification, various pollutants such as cigarette smoke, sulfurous acid gas, nitrogen oxide, carbon monoxide, ozone and various organic materials existing in the air form cations, and the anions harden, settle and remove and settle these cations to keep the air clean and fresh.
[48] In addition, as the dust removal and sterilizing action, cations make bacteria, dust, pollens, musts and polluted articles be floated freely, which makes the air muddy, while the anions neutralize and eliminate these. As for other effects for the human body, X-ray, R-ray, ionizing radiation and ultraviolet emitted from TV, PC, mobile phone and various electronic and electric products have high energy, which become a factor of generation of cation in the air. If an amount of cations is increased, many diseases such as asthma, bronchial trouble, headache, sight trouble, lumbago, shoulder pain, hypersensitivity, extreme tension, irregular physiologies, tameness, melancholia, dermatitis and parturition of a deformed child may be induced, so the anions offset such cations.
[49] Meanwhile, as shown in the internal sectional view of FIG. 5, a hardwood charcoal layer 15b may be further provided to the pillow body 12. Thus, by means of actions of the hardwood charcoal layer 15b, functions such as air purification, deodorization, de- humidifying action, removal of harmful gas, preservation treatment, alleviation of pain, alleviation of fever, poison neutralizing, and removal of pollutants may be further provided.
