Abstract

L'invention concerne un moteur à combustion interne comprenant au moins un cylindre (1) dans lequel une chambre de combustion (5) est définie entre un piston (3) et une culasse (2), un injecteur de carburant (6) disposé dans la culasse (2), ainsi qu'une cavité (4) ménagée dans le piston (3). Du carburant est injecté dans la chambre de combustion (5) par une buse d'injection (6a) pendant un cycle de fonctionnement sous la forme de plusieurs quantités partielles correspondant à une préinjection, une injection principale et une post-injection. Selon l'invention, lorsqu'il arrive sur la cavité (4), le carburant est guidé au moins partiellement le long d'un contour (11) du fond de la cavité entre une partie saillante de compression (10) et un bord (15) de la cavité et les fractions de carburant guidées le long dudit contour (11) sont au moins partiellement séparées ou déviées d'une surface du fond de la cavité par une modification d'inclinaison (16) du fond (14) de la cavité ou par une zone convexe (R2) de ce fond (14).
