SLIDING TYPE PORTABLE PHONE
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a sliding type portable phone, and more particularly to, a sliding type portable phone which can widen an allowable open space in a main body by enabling a cover portion to perform a sliding movement with respect to the main body in at lease two directions, that is, two-dimensional directions such as left and right directions and up and down directions, and can allow a user to make a phone call at his or her desired direction, or enjoy watching TV or movies or playing a game since the cover portion can be opened in any directions such as left and right directions and up and down directions.
Background Art
Portable phones which are being frequently used for almost all people are classified into a flip type, folder type, and sliding type portable phones, according to the outer appearance.
In the flip type portable phone, only part of a main body where input buttons are formed can be opened and closed at a state where a display window is exposed externally.
In the folder type portable phone, a cover portion can rotate with respect to a main body around a central hinge portion.
In the recent sliding type portable phone, a cover portion can be slidingly opened and closed with respect to a main body.
With the advent of the folder type and sliding type portable phones, they are more preferred than the flip type portable phone.
In the case of the most recent sliding type portable phone, a cover portion provided with a display window can slidingly move only in one direction with respect to a main body provided with a plurality of input buttons.
In the case of the conventional sliding type portable phone provided with a cover portion which moves only in one direction, the cover portion can move within a limit length. As a result, since only a portion which is exposed after the cover portion moves in an opened direction can be used, only a limited area in the main body can be used.
In addition, users can enjoy watching TV or movies, or playing a game using a display windowprovided in a portable phone. However, the conventional portable phone should be turned in order to enjoy watching wide-screen movies or playing a wide-screen game.
Disclosure of the Invention To solve the above problems, it is an object of the present invention to provide a sliding type portable phone which can widen an allowable open space in a main body by enabling a cover portion to perform a sliding movement with respect to the main body in at lease two directions, that is, two-dimensional directions such as left and right directions and up and down directions, and can allow a user to make a phone call at his or her desired direction, or enjoy watching TV or movies or playing a game since the cover portion can be opened in any directions such as left and right directions and up and down directions.
To accomplish the above object of the present invention, according to the present invention, there is provided a sliding type portable phone comprising: a main body provided with a plurality of input buttons; a cover portion opening and closing the main body; horizontal and longitudinal guide rails which are formed on one surface of at least one of the main body and the cover portion and which mutually cross partly; and rail blocks which are formed on one surface of the other of the main body and the cover portion and which are supported by the horizontal and longitudinal guide rails and selectively slidingly move along corresponding guide rails.
Here, the horizontal and longitudinal guide rails are provided with a pair, respectively and are crossed in four cross-points, and the rail blocks are arranged at intervals so as to be positioned in the respectively four cross-points.
On the ends of the horizontal and longitudinal guide rails which are formed of a respective pair including the four cross-points are formed stop grooves temporarily stopping the movement positions of the cover portion, and on the four rail blocks are formed elastic detachable protrusions which can selectively detached from and attached to the stop grooves, respectively.
Brief Description of the Drawings The above and other objects and advantages of the present invention will become more apparent by describing the preferred embodiment thereof in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a sliding type portable phone according to the present invention;
FIGs. 2 and 3 are perspective views showing the operational states of the sliding type portable phone shown in FIG. 1, respectively; and
FIGs. 4A and 4B are perspective views for explaining a sliding movement mechanism, respectively.
Best Mode for Carrying out the Invention
Hereinbelow, a sliding type portable phone according to the present invention will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings .
As shown in FIGs. 1 through 3, a portable phone according to the present invention includes a main body 10 and a cover portion 20 largely.
The main body 10 is a body of a sliding type portable phone. On one side of one surface of the main body 10 are provided a plurality of input buttons 12 and call buttons 13 which play a role of inputting phone numbers or short messages as input tools. On one side of the respective input buttons 12 is installed a transmitter (not shown) which transfers one ' s voice to the other' s phone or records voice messages, as record tools. Optionally, a camera 14 photographing images such as pictures or photos is provided on one side of the main body 10.
On the front surface of a cover portion 20 which selectively opens or closes the main body 10 at the state where the cover portion 20 is combined with the main body 10, are provided a display window 22 displaying input signals input through input buttons 12, various functional buttons (not shown) and a receiver (not shown) which allows a listener to listen to bell sounds or the other's voice call. Besides, patterns which can allow a user to identify a battery charging state, a vibration mode, an alarm mode, etc., are additionally formed in the display window 22.
As shown in FIG. 2, the sliding type portable phone enables a longitudinal sliding movement in which the cover portion 20 is opened in the longitudinal direction, in order to make a phone call. As shown in FIG. 3, it is possible to implement a horizontal sliding movement in order to enjoy watching TV or movies or playing a game when the cover portion 20 is opened in the horizontal direction with respect to the main body 10. Of course, it is possible to make a phone call even at the state of horizontal sliding movement of FIG. 3.
FIGs. 4A and 4B are perspective views for explaining a sliding movement mechanism, respectively. As shown, on the rear surface of the cover portion 20 are formed horizontal and longitudinal guide rails 32a, 32b, 33a and 33b which mutually cross partly. On the front surface of the main body 10 are formed rail blocks 35a through 35d which are supported by the horizontal and longitudinal guide rails 32a, 32b, 33a, and 33b and selectively slidingly move along corresponding guide rails .
In more detail, as shown in FIG. 4A, the horizontal and longitudinal guide rails 32a, 32b, 33a, and 33b are formed of a pair, respectively. Thus, a total of four cross-points 34a through 34d are formed on the horizontal and longitudinal guide rails 32a, 32b, 33a, and 33b, respectively. Four rail blocks 35a through 35d are arranged at intervals so as to be positioned in the respectively four cross-points 34a through 34d. That is, as shown in FIG. 1, when a portable phone is not operated since the cover portion 20 is completely closed with respect to the main body 10, the four rail blocks 35a through 35d become positioned at the four cross-points 34a through 34d.
Meanwhile, in the case of the horizontal and longitudinal guide rails 32a, 32b, 33a, and 33b formed on the rear surface of the cover portion 20, on the ends of the horizontal and longitudinal guide rails 32a, 32b, 33a, and 33b which are formed of a respective pair including the four cross-points 34a through 34d are formed stop grooves 37a through 37d temporarily stopping the movement positions of the cover portion 20. In the drawings, there are a total of eight stop grooves 37a through 37d.
In addition, on the four rail blocks 35a through 35d are formed elastic detachable protrusions 3βa through 36d which can selectively detached from and attached to the stop grooves 37a through 37d, respectively. Although it is not specifically shown in the drawings, a spring is inserted into the elastic detachable protrusions 36a through 36d, respectively. Thus, the elastic detachable protrusions 36a through 36d are compressed during the time when the rail blocks 35a through 35d move along the horizontal and longitudinal guide rails 32a, 32b, 33a, and 33b. Finally, when the rail blocks 35a through 35d reach the stop grooves 37a through 37d, the elastic detachable protrusions 36a through 36d are expanded and accommodated into the corresponding grooves 37a through 37d, to thereby temporarily fix position of movement of the cover portion 20.
A series of operations of the sliding type portable phone having the above-described structure will be described below.
First, as shown in FIG. 1, in the case that the cover portion 20 is closed with respect to the main body 10, the four rail blocks 35a through 35d provided in the main body 10 are positioned at the four cross-points 34a through 34d formed on the cover portion 20, and the elastic detachable protrusions 36a through 36d are provided in the four rail blocks 35a through 35d are accommodated in the four stop grooves 37a through 37d positioned at the four cross-points 34a through 34d, respectively.
Here, for making a phone call, the cover portion 20 is slidingly pushed longitudinally with respect to the main body 10 as shown in FIG. 2. Then, the elastic detachable protrusions 36a through 36d provided in the rail blocks 35a through 35d are detached from the corresponding stop grooves 37a through 37d, respectively, and then move along the horizontal guide rails 32a and 32b together with the rail blocks 35a through 35d. Here, as soon as the four elastic detachable protrusions 36a through 36d are elastically accommodated in the corresponding four stop grooves 37c, 37d, 37e and 37f again, the cover portion 20 stops and becomes a state shown in FIG. 2 to thereby enable a user to make a phone call.
If the cover portion 20 is intended to be longitudinally opened with respect to the main body 10 as shown in FIG. 3, the cover portion 20 is pushed from the FIG. 2 state to the FIG. 1 original state. Then, the cover portion 20 is slidingly longitudinally pushed with respect to the main body 10. Then, the elastic detachable protrusions 36a through 36d provided in the rail blocks 35a through 35d are detached from the corresponding stop grooves 37a through 37d, respectively, and then move along the longitudinal guide rails 33a and 33b together with the rail blocks 35a through 35d. Here, as soon as the four elastic detachable protrusions 36a through 3βd are elastically accommodated in the corresponding four stop grooves 37b, 37d, 37g and 37h again, the cover portion 20 stops and becomes a state shown in FIG.3 to thereby enable a user to enjoy watching movies or TV or playing a game.
As described above, the sliding type portable phone according to the present invention can widen an allowable open space in a main body 10 by enabling a cover portion 20 to perform a sliding movement with respect to the main body 10 in at lease two directions, that is, two-dimensional "direction-s such as left and right directions and up and down directions, and can allow a user to make a phone call at his or her desired direction, or enjoy watching TV or movies or playing a game since the cover portion 20 can be opened in any directions such as left" and right directions and up and down directions .
Industrial Applicability As described above, the present invention provides a sliding type portable phone in which the horizontal and longitudinal guide rails 32a, 32b, 33a, and 33d are formed of a pair. However, the horizontal and longitudinal guide rails can be formed of a single line or three or more lines. In this case, the number of rail blocks 35a through 35d can be also adjusted.
As described above, the present invention has been described with respect to particularly preferred embodiment. However, the present invention is not limited to the above embodiment, and it is possible for one who has an ordinary skill in the art to make various modifications and variations, without departing off the spirit of the present invention. Thus, the protective scope of the present invention is not defined within the detailed description thereof but is defined by the claims to be described later and the technical spirit of the present invention.
