Abstract

In a fuel cell system where a hydrogen gas supply passage (21) is provided with a hydrogen pressure regulating valve (6), an operation characteristic which is changed in accordance with a state of the fuel cell system. For example, when the fuel cell system is in the state where foreign substances have been accumulated in the hydrogen gas supply passage (21), and the foreign substances are required to be discharged, a discharge pressure of the hydrogen pressure regulating valve (6) is increased. Meanwhile, when the fuel cell system is in the state where hydrogen gas leaks from the hydrogen gas supply passage (21), the discharge pressure of the hydrogen pressure regulating valve (6) is decreased.
