Abstract

La présente invention concerne une méthode visant à améliorer les caractéristiques de croissance des plantes, consistant à augmenter l'activité dans une plante d'une protéine se liant à l'ARN ou d'un homologue de cette protéine. Cette protéine se liant à l'ARN ou son homologue est soit : (i) un polypeptide possédant une activité de liaison à l'ARN et comprenant 2 ou 3 motifs de reconnaissance de l'ARN (RRM) et un motif possédant au moins 75 % de l'identité de la séquence du motif I: PIYEAAVVALPVVVKERLVRILRLGIATRYD et/ou un motif possédant au moins 50 % de l'identité de la séquence du motif II: RFDPFTGEPYKFDP ; ou (ii) un polypeptide RBP1 ou un homologue de celui-ci, possédant une activité de liaison à l'ARN, (b) deux domaines RRM, (c) les deux motifs suivants : (i) KIFVGGL ET (ii) RPRGFGF, permettant jusqu'à trois substitutions d'acides aminés et toute modification de conservation dans les motifs, et (d) au moins 20 % de l'identité de la séquence de l'acide aminé représenté par la séquence SEQ ID NO: 15. L'invention concerne également des plantes transgéniques dans lesquelles on a introduit un acide nucléique codant pour une protéine se liant à l'ARN ou un variant de cet acide nucléique. Ces plantes possèdent des caractéristiques de croissance améliorées par rapport aux plantes de type sauvage correspondantes. La présente invention concerne également des constructions pouvant être utilisées dans les méthodes de l'invention.
