Abstract

The invention relates to devices for determining the characteristics of a gas with a planar gas sensor that is operated by means of a heating element at a temperature greater than 290 °C and that is located on a carrier substrate for and in a measuring chamber. Said devices are characterised in particular by an extremely simple construction and therefore can be produced extremely economically. The gas sensor consists of a carrier substrate comprising thin layers for at least one heating element, a solid electrolyte and electrodes. The carrier substrate consists of known aluminium oxide, vitroceramic or zirconium oxide-aluminium oxide material. The planar gas sensor is situated on one surface of the carrier substrate and the heating element on another surface of the carrier substrate. The heating element is an electric resistance element comprising at least two feeder lines. At least one conductor is connected to the heating element to act as a potential tap. Said heating element consists of tracks on the carrier substrate.
