ROLL TYPE ADHESIVE TAPE WITH FLEXIBLE STRING FOR INDICATING LEADING END THEREOF
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a roll type adhesive tape, and more particularly, to a roll type adhesive tape with a flexible string for indicating a leading end thereof, wherein a leading end of a strip of the adhesive tape, which has been formed after the previous use of the adhesive tape, can be easily found in position by means of the flexible string upon subsequent use of the adhesive tape.
Background Art
Generally, various kinds of roll type adhesive tapes have been used, and include a transparent resin adhesive tape called "scotch" tape, an opaque resin adhesive tape, a metal foil adhesive tape, and the like. Most of them are formed by winding a tacky strip around a hollow cylindrical core made of thick paper, plastic or the like. Among conventional adhesive tapes, an adhesive tape that has an additional tab with no adhesive applied thereto to indicate an initial leading end of a strip of the adhesive tape upon initial use thereof has also been widely used. Further, a roll type adhesive tape for use in packaging or an office is on the market while being mounted in a dispenser formed with a cutter for facilitating cutting of the adhesive tape upon use thereof. Such a dispenser formed with a cutter can facilitate cutting of a strip of an adhesive tape and simultaneously allow the adhesive tape to be stored in a state where a leading end of the strip of the adhesive tape temporarily adheres to a portion of the cutter for the purpose of future use of the adhesive tape.
In case of the adhesive tape formed with the tab for indicating the leading end, it is convenient to initially use the adhesive tape since the initial leading end of the strip can be easily found due to the presence of the tab. However, since a leading end formed after the first use of the adhesive tape has adhered to an outer surface of an outermost strip layer of the roll of the adhesive tape, it is difficult to find and peel off
the leading end and thus very inconvenient to utilize the tape upon subsequent use thereof. Further, in case of the adhesive tape mounted in the dispenser formed with the cutter, a strip piece of the adhesive tape extends by a certain length from the roll of the adhesive tape to the cutter and a leading end of the strip piece is then stuck on an upper surface of the cutter. Thus, foreign substances such as dust adhere to a tacky side of the strip piece of the adhesive tape, which extends by the certain length. If the strip piece of the adhesive tape is cut and stuck on a target surface, the target surface is stained or desired adhesive performance cannot be obtained. Moreover, there is a disadvantage in that the size or volume of the adhesive tape increases due to the dispenser formed with the cutter.
Therefore, there is still a need for a compact adhesive tape in which a leading end of a strip of the adhesive tape can be easily found and conveniently peeled off upon subsequent use of the adhesive tape while minimizing a possibility that the leading end of the strip of the adhesive tape may be stained.

Technical Problem
Accordingly, the present invention is conceived to solve the aforementioned problems in the prior art. An object of the present invention is to provide a roll type adhesive tape having a string for indicating a leading end of a strip of the adhesive tape, wherein the string has one end secured on a portion of a hollow cylindrical core of the adhesive tape and a length to such an extent that the other end thereof extends across the leading end of the strip, thereby allowing the leading end to be easily found and conveniently peeled off upon use of the adhesive tape.
Technical Solution
According to the present invention for achieving the object, there is provided an adhesive tape with a strip continuously wound in the form of a roll around a hollow core thereof, comprising a string for indicating a leading end of the strip of the adhesive tape. The string is releasably bonded to an adhesive applied to one side of the strip and has
one end secured on a portion of the hollow core and a length to such an extent that the other end thereof extends across the leading end of the strip.
The hollow core may be formed with spokes extending from an inner periphery of the hollow core toward the center of the hollow core, and the one end of the string may be secured at the center of the spokes.
Advantageous Effects
According to the adhesive tape of the present invention, due to a simple and effective configuration without increasing the size of the adhesive tape, contamination of the leading end of the strip of the adhesive tape is minimized to maintain adhesiveness until the adhesive tape is completely consumed, and at the same time, the leading end can always be easily found and conveniently peeled off using the string, thereby facilitating the use of the adhesive tape.
Description of Drawings
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a roll type adhesive tape with a string for indicating a leading end thereof according to an embodiment of the present invention.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of a roll type adhesive tape with a string for indicating a leading end thereof according to another embodiment of the present invention.
Best Mode
Hereinafter, preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. Fig. 1 shows a perspective view of a roll type adhesive tape with a string for indicating a leading end thereof according to an embodiment of the present invention. In this figure, the adhesive tape 10 of the present invention is shown in a state before it will be used second or subsequent time after the first use thereof. A leading end 16 of a strip of the adhesive tape has been formed due to previous use of the adhesive tape. The adhesive tape 10 of the present invention comprises a hollow cylindrical
core 12, and a roll 15 formed by continuously winding the strip with an adhesive applied to one side thereof around an outer periphery of the core 12. The adhesive tape 10 further comprises a flexible string 18 for indicating the leading end of the strip. The string 18 has one end secured on a portion of the hollow cylindrical core 12 and a length to such an extent that the other end thereof extends across the leading end 16 of the strip. The other end of the string 18, i.e., a free end, serves as a grasping end 19 that a user grasps with his/her hand.
The string 18 may be a thin flexible string made of a resin film that has tensile strength to such an extent that it cannot be easily broken and can be releasably bonded to the adhesive applied to the side of the strip of the adhesive tape. Alternatively, the string may be a flexible string with a metal wire longitudinally embedded in such a resin film. The one end of the string 18 may be embedded in and fixed to the hollow core 12 when the hollow core is being molded, or may be fixedly attached to an inner periphery of the hollow core 12 by means of an adhesive or other known methods. The string 18 has a length enough to extend from the end thereof secured on the hollow core 12 in a diametrical direction of the roll 15 of the adhesive tape across the width of the strip of the adhesive tape to an opposite side. Since the diameter of the roll 15 decreases as the adhesive tape is used, a user may cut the string 18 into a proper length during its use. The adhesive tape of this embodiment can be configured while minimizing modifications to a conventional adhesive tape.
Mode for Invention
Fig. 2 shows a perspective view of a roll type adhesive tape with a string for indicating a leading end thereof according to another embodiment of the present invention. Even in this figure, the adhesive tape 100 of the present invention is shown in a state before it will be used second or subsequent time after the first use thereof. It can be seen from the figure that a leading end 106 of a strip of the adhesive tape has been formed due to previous use of the adhesive tape. Similarly to the adhesive tape 10 shown in Fig. 1, the adhesive tape 100 of this
embodiment comprises a hollow cylindrical core 102, a roll 105 of the strip, and a flexible string 108 for indicating the leading end of the strip, which has one fixed end and a grasping end 109 as a free end thereof. The adhesive tape 100 is generally similar to the adhesive tape 10 according to the embodiment of Fig. 1 but is different therefrom in that it further comprises spokes 103 extending from an inner periphery of the hollow core 102 toward the center of the hollow core and the one end of the string 108 is secured at the center of the spokes 103 where the spokes meet one another.
Although three spokes 103 are shown in Fig. 2, an arbitrary number of spokes may be configured. The spokes may be molded integrally with the body of the hollow core 102, or may be separately molded and then attached to the body of the hollow core 102. The one end of the string 108 may be embedded in and fixed to the center of the spokes 103, or may be fixedly attached thereto by means of an adhesive or other known methods.
The string 108 has a length enough to extend from the center of the spokes 103 in a radial direction of the roll 105 of the adhesive tape across the width of the strip of the adhesive tape to an opposite side. Since the one end of the string 108 is located at the center of the roll 105 in the adhesive tape 100 of this embodiment, there is an advantage in that the adhesive tape can be more easily used due to an equal distance from the center to respective portions of the roll 105. Now, the operation of the adhesive tape 10 or 100 according to the embodiment of the present invention will be described.
A strip piece with a proper length is unwound from the roll 15 or 105 of the adhesive tape 10 or 100 and then cut, so that the cut strip piece is used. Prior to storage of the adhesive tape after the use thereof, a user holds the grasping end 19 or 109 of the string 18 or 108 and places an intermediate portion of the string 18 or 108 at a position slightly spaced apart inward from a distal end portion of a newly formed leading end 16 or 106 of the strip of the adhesive tape and across a portion of an outer surface of an outermost strip layer of the roll, before the user attaches the newly formed leading end 16 or 106 to the outer surface of the outermost strip layer of the roll. Then, the user attaches the leading end 16 or 106 to the outer surface of the outermost strip
layer of the roll. That is, a portion of the string 18 or 108 is interposed between the outer surface of the outermost strip layer and an inner surface of the leading end 16 or 106 of the strip.
When the user intends to reuse the adhesive tape 10 or 100 later in such a storage state, he/she holds and pulls the grasping end 19 or 109 of the string 18 or 108.
Thus, the leading end 16 or 106 of the strip is easily peeled off. Thereafter, a strip piece with a certain length is unwound from the roll 15 or 105 and then cut to be used.
By repeating such procedures, the adhesive tape can be conveniently used.
Meanwhile, it can be understood that the roll type adhesive tape of the present invention shown in Fig. 1 may be conveniently used in a state where it is mounted in a conventional dispenser with a cutter.
Although the present invention has been described in connection with the preferred embodiments, it will be understood by those skilled in the art that various modifications and changes can be made thereto without departing from the scope of the present invention defined by the appended claims.
