Definitions
- the invention relates to a flow cup for a paint spray gun according to the preamble of claim 1.
- Such a flow cup is known from the prior art, for example from WO 98/32539.
- This flow cup is intended for single use and comprises a plastic container and a lid that can be placed on it to close the container.
- connection means for placing and attaching the flow cup to a paint spray gun or an adapter fastened thereon are provided on the top of the cover.
- the gravity cup is placed "upside-down" on the paint spray gun with the lid side down.
- the paint in the flow cup then flows downward into the paint inlet channel of the paint spray gun due to gravity.
- a pressure equalization between the interior of the paint cup and the environment is required.
- a ventilation opening is made in the bottom of the container, which can be closed by means of an adhesive strip or a manually operable valve.
- the object of the invention is to provide a flow cup with an easily manually operated valve for closing the ventilation opening.
- Figure 1 A flow cup according to the invention in section
- Figure 2 Top view of the left half of the container bottom of the flow cup of Figure 1, in which a valve for closing a ventilation opening is arranged (Figure 2a) and a section through this view along the line AA ( Figure 2b), the valve being shown in the open valve position;
- Figure 3 The same representation as in Figure 2, but with the valve position closed, and additionally in Figure 3c, a section along the line B-B of Figure 3a;
- FIG. 4 Perspective view of the components of the valve, partly in section.
- the flow cup shown in FIG. 1 comprises a cup-shaped container 1 and a cover 2 which can be screwed onto it by means of a thread.
- the cover 2 has on its top side an outlet connection with an outlet opening.
- a connection part 3 is formed on the outside of the outlet connection piece and is used to place and fasten the flow cup on a paint spray gun or on an adapter arranged between the paint spray gun and the flow cup.
- the connection part 3 comprises a thread and a wedge-shaped groove which cooperate with corresponding connection parts on the paint spray gun, namely a corresponding internal thread and a pin for engaging in the groove.
- Both the container 1 and the lid 2 are expediently made of plastic as injection molded parts.
- the lid 2 is removed and put back on after filling. Subsequently, the cover 2 with its connecting part 3 can be placed and fastened on the connecting part of a paint spray gun or an adapter. During the spraying process, the flow cup is located on the top of the paint spray gun and the liquid in the container runs into the paint inlet channel of the paint spray gun due to gravity.
- a ventilation opening 6 is provided in a wall 4 of the container 1.
- the ventilation opening 6 is in the bottom of the container.
- the ventilation opening 6 can also be made in the side wall of the container 1, preferably in the vicinity of the bottom.
- a valve 5 is provided, which is arranged on the underside of the container bottom.
- the valve 5 is shown in more detail in FIGS. 2 to 4. It is designed as a slide valve and has a valve housing 7 arranged on the wall 4 and a slide 8.
- the slide 8 is displaceable with respect to the valve housing 7.
- the valve housing 7 is integrally formed on the wall 4 in the area of the ventilation opening 6, as can be seen from the illustration in FIG. 1.
- the slide 8 is displaceable within the valve housing 7 along a displacement direction V, which is essentially parallel to the wall 4 of the container 1, in which the ventilation opening 6 is arranged.
- Parallel is understood here to mean that the direction of displacement V runs exactly or at least approximately parallel to the flat wall 4, or, if the wall 4 is a curved surface (for example the cylinder jacket of the cup-shaped container 1), that the The direction of displacement V has at least approximately the same curvature as the curved wall 4.
- a ventilation duct 9 is formed, with a first bore 9a, which opens into the ventilation opening 6 and a second bore 9b, which opens into the first bore 9a at a right angle.
- the second bore 9b widens in two stages from a smaller bore diameter to approximately twice the bore diameter.
- the second bore 9b finally opens into a cuboid-shaped space 9d that is open towards the front, that is to say toward the outside of the container 1 (FIG. 4).
- the space 9d forms an insertion opening for inserting the slide 8 into the valve housing 7.
- the slide 8 shown in more detail in FIG. 4 has a head part 14 and a cuboid piston 15 integrally molded thereon. At the end of the piston 15 facing away from the head part 14, a pin 10 is formed thereon. At its top and bottom, the piston 15 has a groove-shaped recess 9c extending along its entire length (FIGS. 3c and 4). Wedge-shaped stop elements 11, 12 are formed laterally on the head part 14 (FIG. 4).
- the piston 15 of the slide 8 is pushed into the space 9d of the valve housing 7.
- the slide 8 is then in the valve housing 7 between a first valve position and a second valve position.
- the first valve position (FIG. 3)
- the slide 8 is pushed so far into the valve housing 7 that the pin 10 arranged on the front of the slide 8 engages in the second bore 9b on the valve housing 7 and seals it tightly.
- the pin 10 is spherically rounded on its front side or is conically tapered.
- the spherically rounded region of the pin 10 bears against the first, conically widening region of the second bore 9b, as shown in FIG. 3b.
- the slide 8 In the second valve position (FIG. 2), the slide 8 is pushed out of the valve housing 7 so far that the second bore 9b is free. This allows air to pass from the inside of the container 1 through the ventilation opening 6 into the ventilation channel 9 with the first bore 9a, the second bore 9b and the space 9d.
- the recesses 9c are provided on the top and bottom of the piston 15. These recesses 9c extend the ventilation duct 9 formed by the two bores 9a, 9b and the space 9d to the outside.
- the stop elements 12 of the slide 8 rest on the inside of the brim 16. This prevents the slide 8 from accidentally sliding out of the valve housing 7 and being lost.
- the wedge-shaped stop elements 11 are provided. These clamp the head part 14 of the slide 8 on the inside 13 of the brim 16 in the closed valve position, as shown in FIG. 3a. In order to move the slide 8 from the closed valve position into an open valve position, some force must be applied to bring the stop elements 11 out of their clamping on the inside 13 of the brim 16.
- the head part 14 of the slide 8 protrudes beyond the outer circumference of the container 1 in the region of the brim, as shown in FIG. 1.
- the user sees that the valve 5 is in the open position, whereby it can be avoided that the user inadvertently fills liquid into the container 1 standing on the floor when the valve is open.
- the outer end face of the head part 14 closes flush with the outer circumference of the container 1 or the brim 16 from.
- the inner end face of the head part 14 lies against the end edge 17 of the valve housing 7 surrounding the insertion opening (FIG. 3a).
- valve 5 is also distinguished by a high level of tightness.
- the tightness of the valve 5 can be further improved by designing it as a double valve with two valve seats.
- a second valve seat can be formed by between the front end face 18 of the piston 15 and the rear wall 19 of the space 9d a seal (not shown here in the drawing) is inserted. The stop of the front end face 18 of the piston 15 on the rear wall 19 of the space 9d then acts as an additional valve seat.
