Abstract

The invention pertains to the field of electrolytic capacitors and discloses a capacitor consisting of anode with an insulating film thereon, a cathode, an electrolyte being in contact with anode and cathode, and at least one valve metal oxide layer integral with at least one surface of said cathode and/or anode (Fig.1). The metal oxide layer/s operate/s as integral anode-cathode separator and has an average thickness of less than 10 microns on both or one of said electrodes. The invention also discloses a process for manufacture of such capacitor, which process comprises a reactive vapor deposition of said valve metal (in the presence of oxygen) onto the surface of at least one said electrode.
