Abstract

This invention relates in general to the packing industry, and more particularly to bottle closures used for bottling high-quality alcohol products. The body (1) of the closure is made with a coating applied on its exterior surface and formed by several layers of polymeric film. One of the layers (7) has a holographic image and is placed under one or more transparent layers (6). The multilayer coating film is applied on the body (1) using the thermomechanical method. The holographic image is made continuous or discontinuous, it can contain inscripts, protective signs. The coating can be applied all over the surface or on specified parts of the body.

Description

CLOSURE
This invention relates in general to the packing industry, and more particularly to bottle closures used for bottling high-quality alcohol products. Known is using different designs for closing beverage bottles which include a protective cap in the form of a hood, and a body, which can be locked on the bottleneck, the body being linked to the hood by means of a weak section. Known is a closure in the form of a cap, in which the hood and the body are made integrally of a flat aluminum and set on the bottleneck together. The forced engagement of the cap with the bottle is achieved by means of rolling on the bottle thread, which is typically, a coarse thread. Usually, such closures have identifying parts, i.e. careers of information facilitating recognition of the packed product and protection against counterfeit For example, from the patent RU Jfe8340 UL, IPC7 B65D 41/00, 16.11.1998 is known a design in which the information career is made readable in the form of a hologram containing, e.g. the name of the manufacturer, its trade mark, or logo. The aforesaid career of information is located on the upper end of the hood under a separate cover which is linked with the hood by means of perforations. In order to have a look at the career of information, one has to open the cover, which means to break the package. This design has a tamper-indicating means. The disadvantage of the known closure is its complexity. One can only verify the identity of the product after breaking the package. From the patent RU JV° 2204511 C2, IPC7 B65D 41/62, 20.01.2003 is known a protective closure for tanks, which has a cap and a sealing cover. The cover (and the packed product) can be individualized with a pattern or an inscription. The cover is made in the form of a flexible sleeve which is applied over the cap. The cover has weak lines used to make sure there has been no tampering. The pattern or inscription is placed exactly over the weak lines. A range of closures is presented by the Italian company «GUALA KLOZURES S.p.A.». From the patent RU J °2205142 C2, IPC7 B65D 41/34, 27.05.2003 is known a bottle closure which makes it possible to find out if the bottle has been opened. The closure includes a hood and a sleeve linked by means of a weak line, the hood having a means to orient the hood and sleeve in the process of setting the closure on the bottleneck. This design has been selected as a prototype of the proposed invention. The disadvantage of both of the aforesaid designs is that they do not guarantee the user sufficient protection against counterfeit. The information identifying the content of the bottle and the manufacturer is usually written on the sealing cover or directly on the sleeve as an imprint. Such an imprint makes it possible to recognize the product immediately, but it can be forged easily. The proposed invention is aimed at providing a maximal protection against counterfeit and identification of the product closed in the bottle. This aim is achieved in that the closure comprised a tubular body having coating on its exterior surface, the coating consisting of a multilayer polymer film, one of the internal layers having a holographic pattern, the outer polymer layer being transparent. The coating can be applied to the side surface of the body. The multilayer film is applied on the body using the thermomechanical method. The holographic pattern is made continuous, discontinuous, with inscripts, or with a protective sign. The coating can be applied all over the surface or on specified parts of the body. The proposed invention will now be explained by way of the non-limiting description of the preferred embodiments and with the reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figures 1 - 2 are general views of the embodiments of the closure whose body is made with a weak line. Figure 3 is the general view of the closure whose body is made without a weak line. Figure 4 illustrates an embodiment of the multilayer film used. In embodiment 1 (Fig. 1), the closure includes a tubular body 1 consisting of a hood 2 and a sleeve 3. The hood 2 and the sleeve 3 are linked by means of so called "weak line" 4 (e.g. a perforated section of the body). One of the layers in the multilayer coating has a holographic image. The coating is applied to the sleeve below the weak line. In another embodiment of the closure (Fig. 2), the weak line 4 is made in the end of the body 1. In another embodiment (Fig. 3), the closure includes a one-piece tubular body 1 with said coating on its side surface. One possible embodiment of the multilayer film (Fig. 4) which can be used for the coating has, particularly, four layers, namely the base layer 5 of heat- resistant polymeric film, the layer 6 of transparent polymeric film, the layer 7 of film with holographic image, the layer 8 which melts when heated. The multilayer material which protects the packed product against counterfeit, is applied to the surface of the body of the proposed apparatus using the process of thermomechanical application of holographic images by means of a thermographic machine. The polymer film has a specified multilayer composition. It can be applied to any surface using the thermomechanical method which provides good adhesion. The coating includes a film with applied holographic image, which makes a varying optical effect. The visible picture provided by the proposed holographic image (diffraction structure) can be a regular diffraction array, a mosaic of diffraction arrays, a three-dimensional holographic image with a spacing effect, etc. in one or more visually identified areas. To apply the coating, the film with a holographic image is fixed in the machine using a special forming roller. The location parameters are set in the machine: the front edge, the rear edge, the left edge, and the right edge, and the temperature 230 - 270°C is specified, dependent on the film. After that the coating is applied. The placement of the holographic image between the two opposite surfaces makes it strong and practically not susceptible to disintegration. The introduction of the varying microstructure (holographic image) into the coating improves the protection of the product against counterfeit. The fixing of the holographic image, e.g. along with the system of protective printed characters yields a closing apparatus ideally meeting the package protection requirements. Obviously, the described preferred embodiments are given for illustration only and will not confine the scope of claims.
